I think I'm going to end up getting shut out. I submitted all of my information, and even confirmed the payment, but I've been waiting (with a projected wait time of less than a minute) for about 5 minutes now on the final "your order has been confirmed" page. This is un-Ticketmaster-like (more of what I'd expect from TicketFly).
Nevermind. I'm still waiting in limbo on the Ticketmaster website but I just checked my email and received an order confirmation! Woo hoo!
It's worth noting that Ticketmaster usually gouges shoppers with fees, but there was only a $2 and some change fee added to the order. I feel like that's pretty reasonable for $190 tickets.

Got a regular 3-day ticket. Maybe should have just done a two day but oh well. $214. Not terrible. Now to get on the Governor's Ball payment plan and I'm set.
$80 for a full day, $50 for the half day. Seems pretty on par with what other mid-tier festivals charge (although, you might be getting a bigger headliner at these other fests, they also have 30,000+ more people)

I have mine! No presale (I actually forgot to try, of course... sigh). Then I realized that I forgot my purse at home. Thought I had to wait until later, however TicketBastard as all my info and I just clicked my way through the payment screen and POOF! A ticket!
PS. I think my parents are currently buying theirs as well. I know they got shut out of presale, but I haven't heard confirmation for buying regularly priced tickets yet.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

My folks wanted to go last year after the lineup came out but couldn't swing it cuz tix sold out and it just wasn't good timing. Gonna try to tell them they'd like it again this year but if there's no big acts they like/know it might not be worth it. I did tell them we could always sell tix after if they don't want.

Well, I didn't go to bed until 5 last night/this morning, so I naturally didn't get up at 9 for the cheaper tickets. Sounds like they were tough to get anyway. But I did purchase my 3-day ticket a little while ago! Now I'm contemplating Shaky Knees too...

Shaky Knees looks fantastic. I wish it was closer to me.

Oh man, I think my PARENTS are coming to one of the days too. God help us all. Any lineup leaks to share? They're trying to decide which day but are a bit stymied by this whole delayed lineup announcement thing.

The way this festival has gone the past couple of years they could probably buy a ticket for both days and then sell the ones they don't want on here (or craigslist). Facebook was FULL of people selling theirs last year.
This fest is really pricey for what it is, to be honest. $214 for a three/two-and-a-half day fest where the last show ends at like 7:30?
I guess now that I look at festivals like Loufest, FYF Fest, FFF Fest, and Shaky Knees, you're right.
That really makes me wonder why tickets are so expensive (and that the organizers are always claiming the way they're doing things is to keep the prices down). Especially for a non-profit fest. Is it solely the location?

I'd say so. It's a small venue, capacity 10k at the most - so you're either paying high on tickets or getting a much weaker lineup. Take last year's NFF lineup, put it on the Bonnaroo farm, I couldn't see it being over $125 for the whole weekend.
I can't imagine renting out a major state park for several weeks (in the summer) being cheap either.
If I read correctly, Shaky Knees has a capacity of 9,000. I would say the lineups are fairly comparable in terms of size of artists; NFF might have (marginally) bigger headliners, but I'd argue Shaky Knees is (slightly) deeper. But the 3 day ticket prices for Shaky Knees are $99 (before the lineup), $150 (first tier), and $169 (second tier).
It must come down to hosting an large event at a state park on the shore, compensation to locals for the increased traffic, and the prestige of the festival (they can charge more just because they are NFF; maybe a lot of proceeds end up donated back to good causes).

NFF doesn't take big corporate sponsors. That's huge $$$ compared to other festivals. If they wanted it to be the Bud Light Newport Folk Festival, I'm sure tickets could be cheaper.
Just figured I'd share my latest folk find. I think a lot of you will like them (I hear a little bit of Grizzly Bear in this song). Debut album coming out soon. Hope they make the lineup!

Have any of you ever done the Jazz Fest? The lineup was just released and I really like it. It's highly unlikely that I will hit it up, but I'd still like to hear comments on it.

Going this year for sure. Where did you see the lineup?
I've never done it, but this year's lineup is especially orgasm worthy... I would LOVE to go, but I just don't see it possible. I have a friend who just moved down there and specifically offered me a spot to crash if I want to do a NO fest. The problem is that she is about to have a baby. My hopes is that next year, the baby will be a little older and then maybe Jazz Fest can happen. I don't want to intrude with a newborn there.
