With the Osheaga lineup coming next week supposedly, that should narrow some things down for us.
Are Metallica out of the question since the Heavy Montreal website mentioned that it's their 'only NA show for the summer' ??
What is the source for Osheaga releasing their lineup next week?
I could be wrong, but I think it's just specutalation based on passed years. Last year they really hyped up the schedule release and they really haven't yet this year, I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah that's pretty much what we're getting the idea from.
But I've got a buddy who lives in the area and keeps his ear to the ground for this stuff and he mentioned it very well should be next week. So I know that doesn't hold much water cause who am I right? But hey. .Whenever the Oshie lineup DOES come, we'll have a good idea.
Take it for what it's worth but Lolla just tweeted that "the site says the lineup should be coming in the Spring... And spring starts in 15 days!" I doubt it's coming in two weeks but possibly 3? That'd make sense. Hopefully we can get a reliable leak soon.
I'm sure it's been discussed to death, but it would be a stunner at this point if Outkast appeared on the Lollapalooza lineup. Between Summerfest, Osheaga, OVO, and Forecastle, it just makes zero sense that Lolla landed them.
Those guesses you just posted would destroy the top of Roo. JW jus played 2 yrs ago, and their 2nd line is a bunch of subs from Lolla last year. I like Elton too, but in terms of a live show Id take PJ, Tool, and Coldplay over him in a heartbeat. Roo is certainly not a bad lineup but other than Kanye (who lolla may get) and Elton, the rest of the top is so "been there done that" for me at least.
I tend to like Lolla's lineup more, while I tend to like the vibe of Bonnaroo over Lollapalooza's immensely
It's all about your taste as far as a lineup is concerned, but I do feel like the Roo lineup is a bit overrated for this year. Much prefer last years, but thats just my own preferences. I don't have much experience with festivals but I know going in that you can't beat the vibe and LN at Bonnaroo.
Interesting tweet, as they have already took it down.

it's harder to enjoy an EDM act at lolla if you catch my drift

They have to play Chicago at some point, but I agree that if they're actually on the Osheaga lineup it's pretty unlikely they'll be at Lolla.
Yeah their Twitter has been blowin up today. I think we may actually have a good shot at this lineup drop in 2 weeks, 3/21.
Maybe.
I kinda think its just to keep everybodys attention. Coachella is coming up, Forecastle dropping what most consider a impressive lineup, and still a lot of buzz for Bonnaroo. Trying to catch everybodys eye through social media outlets.
Do we really think that the biggest reunion of the year- Outkast, will not play Chicago? I know they are close to Chicago, but it makes no sense for Outkast to skip Chicago. LA, NY, ATL, Chicago- nope Milwaukee is close enough. It's north coast or Lolla? I have my $ on Lolla. And they are in the area, mostly likely at osheaga which is a near slam dunk, and Toronto. Black keys in 2012 did Toronto, Lolla, and osheaga in a three- four day span.
I understand Kanye at Fuji and outkast summer fest- history. They could have both, but if it's one I bet it's outkast.

Between Osheaga, OVO, Summerfest and Forecastle Outkast will be playing four shows within a less than 300 mile radius from Chicago. It's entirely possible that they realized they could make more money, and reach more people, by playing lots of smaller events which don't enforce radius clauses than playing the big ones that do.

Osheaga and OVO are well outside the 300 mile range. Osheaga is 800+ miles, which is why I don't think they can play that and OVO and Lolla in the same weekend. Louisville is just barely under 300 (298).
If I was putting a festival together, I wouldn't care about Outkast playing in a neighboring city, assuming the price was right. They'll be more than enough of a draw. This is clearly the decision the people at Governor's Ball and Firefly came to.
I think that you're dead on right with respect to fests like Governor's Ball and Firefly, but for some reason I feel as though the bigger fests still like to enforce some sort of radius/exclusivity clause on their headliners with respect to neighboring fests.
Chicago is it's own market. Outkast anywhere but Chicago at this point doesn't mark them up. I still fairly confident they will be there. They are a great get despite the "whoring". But this maybe the last time they are seen together again in years.
Outkast v KoL Coldplay v Tool PJ v Skrillex
Line-up in 2-3 weeks I is my guess. Goldens next Wednesday or Thursday. Earlybirds the Friday after, lineup the following Tuesday. Greg Kot leak soon, hopefully!
Edit: Kanye would work good in Coldplays spot. Double Hip-Hop would be a clutch move for Lolla IMO.

Yea brah, Tool playing a US festival for the first time in years is SOOOOOOOO LAMEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Nope it's friggin awesome (and maybe I'm in the minority), but I wouldn't like to have to choose between the two and would rather see both in full. You can calm down though.

Tool and Coldplay is a funny combo to be stressing about. You have heard Coldplays music, right?

That conflict would suck. It'd be a no brainer decision for me with Tool, but Coldplay's live show is pretty cool and I would like to see them too. I think that top 6 is off the wall impossible too, though. The top 5 of PJ-Outkast-Coldplay-Tool-Kings of Leon is too much imo.

I agree with what you're saying, but I think Outkast is the exception to the rule. They clearly want to play as many festivals as they can and want to hit every large market. If Lolla had the opportunity to book Outkast I don't think it mattered to them whether or not a radius clause was agreed to. This is going on the notion that this is the one year you can book Outkast. I doubt they continue touring after the year is over. If forecastle was a top 5 festival in the country then it might be a different conversation.

Let's try to broaden this conversation a bit. Here's my list 1) potential headliners 2) rumored performers and 3) people I'm just expecting/hoping to be there. Who am I missing?
Possible Headliners: Kanye Pearl Jam Arctic Monkeys Outkast Tool Soundgarden Coldplay Justin Timberlake (longshot)
Rumors: Broken Bells Chromeo Cut Copy Foster the People Lykke Li Mayer Hawthorne Nick Cave Parque Courts Sleigh Bells Kaiser Chiefs Bloody Beetroots Jagwar Ma 1975
Expecting: Robyn and Royksopp Cloud Nothings War on Drugs
With EDC Chicago not happening this year I think there is a good chance that there is a EDM headliner on the north stage. Maybe add Skrillex or Calvin Harris to your list.

What's the pool there, Harris, Skrillex, Axwell/Ingrosso? I don't really care about any of them so I haven't thought about it too much. I'd guess Calvin Harris would be least likely since he had a prime spot in 2012.

Yeah I think those three are the most likely candidates for that slot.
