Pretty Lights could for sure close out a main stage, and FTP closed out Firefly fest last year.
Did you really just try to compare Firefly and Lolla as festivals? FTP could maybe sub-headline depending how their next album does. Pretty Lights could close Perry's, but no way they would let him close a main stage.

I would think the cheapest way to go for tickets is to try to be extremely lucky with the souvenir tickets, and if not wait till the weekend before and grab them from somebody desperate on Craigslist or stub-hub?

The Goldens are basically impossible, I wouldn't bank on those. I've been able to snag early bird ($200 last year) without any trouble every year, those are your best bet IMO.

FTP could headline the grove for sure.
I think that would be a disaster. I saw fun. play the Grove in 2012 and it was incredibly overcrowded and that stage is not built for the best sound unless they have updated it in the last year. I think they would be better placed as a pre-headliner on one of the two main stages.

probably true, they went the singer/songwriter route for headliners for the grove last year

Do you guys think they will book another fairly big country act since Eric Church played last year? I know both Luke Bryan and Darius Rucker are playing in Canada on that Saturday. Could play that Friday or Sunday.

Unless they start changing who their targeting audience is, I couldn't imagine either one of them playing.

I don't think Church is as 'country' as people think. I think him and Zack Brown Band are really it when it comes to country near the top of festival lineups. In terms of radio country music i wouldn't classify Luke Bryan any different than Taylor Swift where as I think Church and ZBB in different sort of subclass. There are others I would consider in this group but none near headline status.
All of those are possible. The Lolla board seems pretty convinced of Pearl Jam/Metallica/JT being the top 3, I don't think that would leave room for Outkast if that is indeed the case.
Watch the Tribune, Greg Kot usually leaks headliners sometime in Feb/March.
I cant see Lolla getting both JT and OutKast and the JT tour dates are very suspicious. Anyway OutKast are not going to play every major festival this year.

Yeah Outkast seems highly likely now. The Lolla board seems pretty convinced that PJ is playing this year. Maybe everybody overreacted with JT tour dates?
I feel pretty confident that FTP will be there this year. Never played Lolla before, new album in March.

FTP played Lolla in 2011 to a huge azz crowd. You couldn't even get into the south field - (sony stage)from the north you had to come around from the street next to Perry's. They are sub headliner at worst in 2014. If passion pit can do it. FTP is bigger and will at least be that.
May Tycho May Phoenix June Rooo July MMJ and Margo Price August Queen with Adam Lambert August Roger Waters (Bucket list #1) August Spoon and Portugal the man Sept Depeche Mode Sept Pilgrimage Fest

PJ/Metallica/outkast Kings of Leon/Beck/DJ
Metallica v Beck Outkast v KoL PJ v DJ
I stand corrected. If that happens I will be more than happy with the headliners.

I'm cautiously optimistic that Lolla will snag Robyn & Royksopp. It would fit nicely into their tour dates and the could do NYC and Lolla between Euro fests similar to them hitting Sasquatch and the Hollywood Bowl in July. Seeing them and Nick Cave basically makes the whole endeavor worthwhile for me.
COS has Chromeo and Cut Copy based on their 8/5 Red Rocks show, which is a reasonable guess but not quite "logical" IMO.

I was feeling optimistic even before the Sasquatch announcement. Every announced show has been outdoors so far and I cant think of non festival outdoor venue that they could play in Chicago. Brooklyn Bowl>Osheaga> Lolla or vice versa seems very plausible.
JT-outkast-skrilly bear at rawkapalooza. No way! Need more rock. Two of those three- maybe. All three no way. I would gladly eat my words cause JT-Outkast -PJ would be a great line of headliners. I still think there is a number two or three that will surprise but I don't know who. Could be Foo Fighters. Phoenix came back in three years. New album on the way.
My guess at this point
Pearl Jam- Foos- outkast KoL- Beck- DJ
To follow Zaj a bit
PJ-JT-Outkast KoL- Beck- Death Cab for Cutie Two big hip hop acts mark out skrilly and put rock on north end besides PJ

I meant to say two big pop acts instead of hip hop. JT is not a hip hop act. *Smacks face*

I doubt Foos will be back so soon. Not to mention they haven't played a proper Chicago show (the Metro the night before Lolla doesn't count) since 2008.
