The Pitchfork lineup locks in Outkast though (although there was only an outside chance Pitchfork would get them). Pitchfork didn't snag anything too major IMO.

Phoenix came back as headliner two years apart. Foo fighters are a possibility, but unlikely. I agree. Tool looks possible. New tour, not sure about an album. They would fit the nin, black sabbath, Friday north side thing Lolla has been doing.
Kings of leon v Tool Outkast v Arctic Monkeys PJ v DJ/someone for the kids.
Diverse- not overindulgent in cost. Should be able to support good undercard.

Lolla is always bumping up a band to play in the top six that others fests typically do not. Once beck was announced at pitchfork it opened the door for another 5/6 band. It was beck until last week. I feel good about AM getting the Lolla bump. They took a chance on phoenix2010, MMJ, multiple DJs- arctic monkeys are not a stretch when combined with these acts. AM is arguably bigger at this point than any of the above bands at the time of their headlining. I think they juxtapose outkast very well for a Saturday night. Plus they are in France until the 19th of July- why come back to play Squamish and Outside lands without a big Lolla payday.

^ Do you have any idea of how stacked of a card that is? No way Lolla could afford that. Not in a million years. If they get Metallica, no way JT or PJ happen. That top 3 is insane.

Metallica isn't expensive. Pearl Jam isn't expensive. The only two expensive acts are Outkast(who are probably taking pay cuts to play 40 festivals), and Justin Timberlake. It's not that stacked, and Lolla has the money to get high tier acts. Pearl Jam is going to be there, their show at Wrigley last year was talked about/still being talked about, and they'll be free in August. Justin Timberlake's tour ends on July 31st, so he could play any of those dates, why would he open the festival(so people could just but single days and not come the rest of the weekend?). Outkast is playing 40 music festivals, Lolla hasn't had a top hip hop act since Eminem, it's safe to say that since Pitchfork didn't grab them, Lolla would be the sole Chicago festival that does. Tool is going to be this year's Nails reunion/comeback. Kings of Leon are trying to come back full circle, with their latest tour, sold out shows, they will be this year's "Killers" slot like last year. Metallica is going to be this year's "Black Sabbath" fill in. This lineup is very possible, and until the lineup drops- I'm sticking to my guns here. Lolla will be BIG this year, and prove why they are still one of the top tier festivals!

So much of this is wrong. Outkast will be there, otherwise you got nothing.
LOL at Metallica not being expensive. They've basically come out and said they don't have much urge to play in the states and the money is part of it. They can gross so much more overseas. It really pisses me off too considering they were probably my favorite band growing up. I love seeing bands live though and their lack of US touring has caused my interest to slowly deteriorate. I don't think any of these other major festivals have a top 3 anywhere near Metallica, JT, and Pearl Jam.

No, this lineup is not feasible at all. Pearl Jam, Metallica, and JT can all be number 1's at lolla, not to mention Tool, Outkast, and KoL which could all be south side headliners. Essentially you have a fest with 6 south side headlienrs and very expensive subs and grove/perry's headliners (skrillex is way too big to play perry's at this point). Please explain to me how Pearl Jam and Metallica are both cheap.

I think its a little odd that we are less than two months away for the lineup and all we know is the Arctic Monkeys and FTP are a lock and altohugh we have nothing to confirm Outkast we can see the writing on the wall. I would think FTP would have a higher billing than AM, am I wrong?

Soundgarden is at Sasquatch, The Strokes are at Governors Ball, Outkast is everywhere.
I think this line-up is boring and same-y, but not outrageously unrealistic.
Pearl Jam, Tool, and Soundgarden would make my heart explode so that's not happening. That would also free up the possibility for some Temple of the Dog collabs. Again, heart explosion, not happening.

Tool have a new album coming out, they aren't playing any US fests atm, so I don't know how that's "samey." That would be an awesome get for Lolla, since they haven't played in almost 7 years lol. Pearl Jam hasn't played since 2006, has new material, and so many people who go to Lolla have been pleading for this to happen. Kings of Leon have played Lolla twice, and it's been 5 years since they've played, and they didn't play any US fests last year except ACL in Oct when Mechanical Bull came out. Outkast is playing 40 festivals, if your festival gets Outkast out of the 40 fests, that's a good thing, since they aren't touring in arenas, and this could be the only time you get to see this for a while. And Strokes are playing one fest so far, and Julian Casablancas is playing all three South American Lolla's which makes me think they'll be at Lolla in Chicago. Also, Soundgarden is playing South American Lolla's. All of these reasons, and scenarios give me reasons to think that this is a possible lineup. I'm just making guesses, so for those that are butt hurt by my comments, I don't care. Just voicing my opinion.

It's not an issue of being "butt hurt," it's just that your dream lineup kinda sucks.
Pearl Jam and Soundgarden = We get it, the 90s rule! Those two bands have been everywhere the last couple years and having both at Lolla is totally unnecessary.
Tool = Tool is cool. Really getting after this 90s thing, and it'd be a quick turnaround for them. They're a North Stage band at best.
Outkast = They'll be there. That's cool. It could easily be the third or fourth time I see them this summer, but whatever, that's not Lolla's fault.
The Stokes = Julian Casablancas needs to get over himself.
Kings of Leon = I'd rather have a double case of Bob Costas-eye than watch Kings of Leon.
