There just isn't precedence for two hip hop headliners. Would it work? Yep. Would it be popular? Yep. I just doubt Lolla, which cut its teeth on rock and roll, would ever do two hip hop headliners. I want to be wrong, cause I will c both outkast and Kanye.
What about the year they had Avicii and Justice?
Coldplay popped up at sxsw/iTunes fest in March. They could be 2,3. But I find them unlikely, but possible. New album in May I believe.
Now you're making good sense, although I feel like it be a really big pull for Lolla at this point.
Hip -hop. World selling, platinum album acts! Not two run of the mill bleep bloopers. Let's not compare outkast/Kanye with justice/avicii. That comparison doesn't seem close to me. I want Kanye and outkast. I would dance my face off. I just feel like it is a long shot, but it is possible. PJ- Kanye- outkast- KoL would be the best top four they could grab for my tastes.

You just said that they wouldn't get two hip hop acts because RAWK. I pointed out that they just had two non-RAWK headliners not too long ago.
Hoping for Kanye to headliner is like hoping to land Prince. The odds are never in your favor, but it's definitely possible.

To be fair the DJs were listed 8 and 10. Of course Lolla is always interesting with billing. Outkast and Kanye would be billed no deeper than 3, maybe 4 for outkast.

I do think that if they had both, one would probably be out of the top 3, which seems unlikely.

Agreed, that is why the probability of both being there is low. So is Coldplay, tool, or someone else the mystery act?

Very suspicious that they're skipping Chicago on a stadium tour in August...decent chance Eminem or even both are booked for Lolla.
Since it only looks like they're only doing three dates, not suspicious at all. Can't be surprised Eminem would do Detroit over Chicago.
You might be right, and like Launchpad said that would be an unprecedented turnaround time for a #1 to return. When they release the dates for these shows we'll know more. If the Detroit show is mid week before or after Lolla weekend then I'm guessing one or both of them will be there.

Don't even try to get my hopes up the RiRi might be there.

I feel like we have so many options at the top. Pearl Jam, Foos, outkast, eminem, Rihanna, JT, Kanye, KoL, Tool, Drake, Metallica, Coldplay. Only 3 maybe 4 of could be there. You know I fall with history of not having 2 major non rock headliners, aside from 2012 having two DJs. So which three or four? And we are still missing 5 and 6. I think the mau5 or skrilly near will be the north closer against the big rock act.
We need Greg Kot to do his job and get us some insider info! Hopefully just a few more weeks, I guessing March 18th-19th at midnight.

two acts that Coachella has that I think are a huge deal are the Knife and the Replacements. If even one did Lolla I'd go in a heartbeat. I think the Knife are already hitting Chicago this spring though and the Replacements did Riot Fest there last fall, but I think they'd both be more fitting with the fest's alt leanings over some of the huge pop names mentioned earlier.
or you know who's active who we were hoping for at 'roo? Black Sabbath. That would be freaking awesome. Dream roster: Black Sabbath | Outkast | Pearl Jam | Portishead | and I'd need the two others to be garbage so I don't have to debate which to see

Black Sabbath was just there in 2012, and yes, it was awesome.

What type of band do you think they'll put up against Outkast? Has to be something hard rockish, right? I'm not sure what type of headliner conflict would piss off the fewest people.

Wouldn't be shocked if it was Kings of Leon. I see Pearl Jam (assuming they're there) going up against the top DJ. I think the number #2 slot will be either JT or Kayne, and that slot would maybe go against Arctic Monkeys.

You never can tell. In 2011 Coldplay played opposite Muse. So, is there a real formula??

This^^^^^^*. You never know with Lolla but. PJ v DJ and outkast v KoL make good sense.

Since so many artists try to play Osheaga the same weekend, they usually book based on the artists availabilty rather than based on who would be a good/bad conflict with who. That said, odds are it will be some sort of rock conflict against Outkast, since rock will take up the majority of the headlining spots.

This is what is going around on the Lolla board as a prediction, what would your guys schedule be if this was it? Bolded mine.
Friday South: Danny Brown (Little Dragon) Frank Ocean (Cut Copy) Kanye West North: Cake (Andrew Bird) The Flaming Lips (DJ) Kings of Leon Grove: Ty Segall, Okkervil River, Darkside Perry's: Duck Sauce, Flosstradamus, Kaskade
Sunday South: Fitz & the Tantrums (St. Vincent) Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (Broken Bells) Pearl Jam North: Janelle Monae (Chromeo) Foster the People (DJ) wompwomp Grove: Frank Turner, A$AP Ferg, James Blake Perry's: Martin Garrix, Zedd, Empire of the Sun
For Friday, that's assuming that The Flaming Lips play Sunday night at Bunbury and I get a day pass. If that falls through then I would choose the Flaming Lips over Frank. For Friday night I would go see about an half hour of both Kayne and Kings of Leon, and get to an aftershow.
