I'm ecstatic to see Outkast at Hangout Fest so because of that, I really hope Lolla doesn't get them. Nothing will beat seeing them on the beach. Lolla getting Yeezus would be a huge get for me so I can see both w/o having to live like a dog for 4 days at Bonnaroo.
Updated possibilities?-
Pearl Jam/Metallica * Kanye West * Coldplay/Tool * Kings of Leon * (?) * Arctic Monkeys
I don't think Arctic Monkeys should be top 6 but with a potential top 4 of that caliber, They'll have to go lighter on the other 2 headliners.

I'd be bummed if Outkast don't play Lolla . I know they're are playing like every festival, but I don't have the money or the time to get to another major festival.
Kanye West is playing Fuji Rock which is the weekend before Lolla. Over the past three years The Cure, NIN, Jack White and Coldplay have played both festivals. I think we are getting Yeezus
^ That's my sh*t right there. Hopefully that plays out. They could def get Kanye and Outkast, we just wouldn't have that badass 3rd rock headliner we're trying to figure out. We'd probably have Metallica/PJ, Kanye, Outkast, Kings Of Leon, (?), (?) for the top 6.

This would make me incredibly happy. One of my biggest frustrations about not being able to go to Bonnaroo is missing Kanye. If i can catch him at Lolla, then that will relieve so much stress.
Just a reminder on Outkast, they're playing both Governors Ball and FireFly in the span of 3 weeks.
They are discussing on the Lolla board the possibility of Coachella making a deal with Outkast that they couldn't play Roo or Lolla. You put any stock into this line of thinking?

Yeah I saw that, it really doesn't make any sense. "Oh sure, go play 40 other festivals, JUST NOT LOLLAPALOOZA." Coachella will be over and done with before Lolla tickets even go on sale.

Yep makes no sense. Summer fest does nothing about outkast. The most interesting thing is Kanye playing Fuji.
That trend is strong. I might stand corrected horn. Lolla might book two huge non rock acts in the same year in 2014. PJ-Kanye- Outkast- KoL- AM- DJ Outkast v KoL Kanye v AM PJ v DJ
May Tycho May Phoenix June Rooo July MMJ and Margo Price August Queen with Adam Lambert August Roger Waters (Bucket list #1) August Spoon and Portugal the man Sept Depeche Mode Sept Pilgrimage Fest
I think you guys might be overestimating their budget.... I can't imagine they'd nab Coldplay and Kanye and Outkast. I mean last year their headliners were groups who come here for $40 GA aside from the Cure. I'd expect one big name and then a slew of headliners on the level of MBV, QoTSA, the National, Soundgarden, groups who are big but not arena sized acts. Really hoping for the Mats!!!

This is not true. You are not seeing any of the 6 headliners from last year (The Killers, NIN, Phoenix, The Postal Service, Mumford) in Chicago for $40 GA. I saw Phoenix at the Aragon the month after Lolla and my ticket was $57. When the Killers were here in December GA pit at UIC was about $70. I think you are severely underestimating how much these acts cost to book, and Lolla has just as big of a budget as any North American festival around.

Killers, Phoenix and Postal Service all played 2000-3000 capacity venues here in Minneapolis for ~$40-$50 last year which is why I was underwhelmed. I think 'roo has one of the biggest budgets around; Phoenix headlined Coachella and Lolla and here they are at like 7th on our poster.

Roo has unopposed headliners. Phoenix was up against The Cure. Which do you think was really the headliner?

Capp Dogg also said on the AMA that they were looking at Outkast (obviously) but got a way better deal at a Europe festival at the same time as Roo. Also what Horn said about Coachella being over before Lolla really starts going with announcements. It'll be a loss for Lollapalooza if they didn't book Outkast. Roo can afford to skip out on them because they have Kanye booked.

any reason to think Lolla didn't also book Kanye?
It seems that there is no real hard evidence to lock anyone in, except for Arctic Monkeys, but I have a feeling they got Kanye.
If Lolla came out with Metallica, Kanye, Coldplay and Outkast it would be like the biggest headliners of any fest in the states. It could be argued that each one of those is a bigger draw than the Cure. I see Lolla as one tier below Coachella and roo.
Would completely disagree that Lolla is below Coach or Roo. It's all about your tastes. I thought Coachella's top 3/4 was a joke last year. Sorry I know Blur is cool to like on this board but I have no urge to see them at all. Stone Roses? Don't know one song. RHCP? Nah I'm good since they played everywhere in the US (some places twice) in 2012. Nine Inch Nails are better than anyone that Coach booked last year. Sure that's my opinion but if you're talking selling tickets and the draw a big festival has, Lolla is right on the same level.

I like NIN, but there were more people at Stone Roses than NIN, and Lolla sells 3x the tickets.

Nope. Kanye could absolutely happen at Lolla, but if he is not there and Outkast is also not there, they missed out big time. Lollapalooza seems like a perfect demographic for Hip-hop even though it's known as a 90's rock orgy.
