The Outkast v Damon conflict is definitely made better by the Aftershow - I wonder what time his set will be there - I have a feeling it will be after 11
Outkast vs Damon will be awful and result in a massively crowded main stage! Looks like I'm picking up a ticket to his Sunday aftershow since Interpol end so early (and I really have no interest in seeing VW again).
Also, anyone know how close the GovBallNYC stage is to the Big Apple Stage? Looks like I'm be running from The Strokes to Spoon.
The grounds itself isnt too big, but it is pretty much separated into two sides. One side has the GovBallNYC stage and Gotham tent within a short distance, then its like a 5 minute walk to the otherside where the Honda and Big Apple stages are.
Thanks! Well, knowing The Strokes they'll start late and stop early, so that should be enough time to run to Spoon. Hopefully Skrillex draws a size-able crowd so I wont be too far back for Jack White.

Made a schedule just for fun and that was about the easiest schedule I've ever had to make. Love how they set everything up. My only conflict would have been Tanlines vs Deafheaven.

They are a good distance away from each other. However, last year I was trudging through a foot of mud to get from one end to the other, so it may have seemed further than it was in reality. Distance aside, I'll be running from The Strokes to Spoon and back to Jack White.
The Strokes/Jack White double-headline billing is interesting in the wake of last year. KOL's set was cancelled due to the monsoon on Friday. GovBall got them to come back and play around 5:45 Saturday. Say what you want about KOL, but having a headliner play in the sunlight was kind of awesome and it was a deviation from typical-festival procedure. I wonder if this is a formula that could stick for future GovBall line-ups? The Strokes bringing the sun down should be pretty awesome.
I thought for sure they were going to have Phoenix conflict with Outkast... Between this and Roo I think we can safely say the experiment of Phoenix as a headlining act is over.

I've made peace with the fact that I'll be missing a majority of the Friday acts I wanted to see. I was excited to catch Jason Isbell, Janelle Monae, Kurt Vile, and Run the Jewels but I'm not going to be able to get out of work early. Damn. Hoping I'll still be able to get in there with enough time for Phoenix's full set. At least I'll be getting an Outkast show
Might check out Grimes too....don't know too much about them but saw their name popping up a bunch of places lately.
Looking like
Friday - Phoenix > Grimes > Outkast Saturday - Diarrhea Planet > ?? > Deafheaven >> Lucius >> Fitz and the Tantrums or Chance the Rapper > The Naked & Famous > Childish Gambino > Spoon > Jack White Sunday - Cayucas > ?? > ?? > Earl Sweatshirt > Tyler the Creator > ?? > The Kills > James Blake > Interpol or Empire of the Sun > Vampy Weeks
What's the general consensus on Jack White live? I am seeing the Strokes the week before at the Capitol Theater show and I'll be seeing Spoon at MIA in August, so Jack White is my only big draw to GovBall this year, outside of those two acts. I saw The Dead Weather @ 'Roo '10, which was a decent show (I don't remember being blown away). I might just sell my GovBall ticket if the case is that he isn't great.

I saw him headline Lollapalooza in 2012 and he was absolutely great! It was the only festival show to-date that I have been on rail for. He started playing with an all male band and the end of his show featured an all woman band. It was pretty cool to see the switch and how the two bands played differently behind Jack. He puts on a great show when he wants to. I feel like Lazaretto will translate live very well so I'm definitely not missing his set at GovBall and Bonnaroo.

Here's what I'm thinking:
Friday: HAERTS/Little Comets>Run The Jewels>Kurt Vile>Janelle Monae>either Washed Out or wait for Julian Casablancas and Voidz>either Neko Case or wait for a good spot for Phoenix>Outkast
Saturday: Hunter Hunted>PAPA>Lucius>Broken Bells>The Strokes>Spoon>Jack White
Sunday: Cayucas>Banks>Earl Sweatshirt>Alunageorge>The Head and the Heart>The Kills>James Blake>Interpol>Damon aftershow?
Bummed about missing Deafheaven and Chance the Rapper, but I'm fine with skipping them to get a better spot for The Strokes. Really hoping for a Spoon aftershow, but since they're in Porto the Thursday before I doubt it will happen. Curious to see how big the Jack White crowd will be with Skrillex going against him.
Friday: Haerts-->Run The Jewels-->The 1975-->Bastille-->check out Julian Solo-->La Roux-->Phoenix-->TV On the Radio-->OutKast
Saturday: Hunter Hunted-->RJD2-->Tanlines-->Classixx-->Chance the Rapper-->Naked and Famous-->Childish Gambino-->Sleigh Bells-->Jack White
Sunday: Banks-->Tyler, The Creator-->The Head and the Heart-->The Kills-->James Blake-->Empire of the Sun-->Vampire Weekend
There is a good chance i don't make it to a lot of those earlier shows as i will be coming from Hoboken, but yeah, if anyone going wants to meet up let me know! I am going solo Friday and Sunday, and could definitely meet up with some awesome Inforoo people!

My schedule
Friday: Kurt Vile>The 1975>Bastille>Casablancas> La Roux/food>Phoenix>TV on the Radio>Outkast
Saturday: The Internet> ??> Lucius probably> Fitz and the Tantrums>Broken Bells>The Glitch Mob>The Strokes>Jack White>Earlwolf aftershow
Sunday: Cayucas>Bleachers>Banks>Earl Sweatshirt>Tyler, the Creator>The Head and the Heart>The Kills>Foster the People>Empire of the Sun>Vampire Weekend
Definitely not set in stone because I have no idea how the festival logistics are. Really wish the Tyler and Earl were on Saturday so it could be Odd Future day.

Anyone thinking of doing the Damon aftershow on Sunday? Still trying to figure out the logistics of seeing all of Interpol and then possibly catching an Uber to Irving.
Question for those of you who have been before---is it the kind of deal where I'll need to stay at a stage for a long time to get a good spot? Asking becuase I'd love to see Spoon, but not sure if it would be smart to leave the main stage between The Strokes and Jack.

I was there last year, and the walk from one end to the other is anywhere from 7-10 minutes depending on your walking speed I'd say. I never had an issue with the main stage and getting a good spot. However, it truly depends on how close you would like to get. The main stage bottlenecks for non-VIP members towards the front, so if you want to be up there, I would say don't go to Spoon. I imagine a lot of Strokes fans are JW fans, which may mean a lot of people will hang out and load up on beers during the intermission. Beer is relatively close to the main stage, so it may get crowded early.

Last year I saw Bloc Party in the tent and ran to Kanye after and I was soooo far back. Though I don't think it'll be a problem this year because id imagine the crowd will be split pretty evenly between Jack White and Skrillex.
I wouldn't stray too far from the main stage before Outkast, though.
I went. If anyone was up in the air on seeing The Strokes, last night solidified that you must. Their most recent concerts seemed in-cohesive and lazy. But, damn did they put on a show last night. They actually performed as a band, and seemed to genuinely enjoy playing and being in each other's company. Maybe it was the fact that it was a small venue, but they played with the determination of a young band trying to prove their worth. Something Strokes fans have been waiting a long-time to see. The 18-track set-list was all-encompassing. I can't wait to see them again next week.

Yeah, The Strokes really killed it last night. Amazing setlist and they were all really into it. As a big Strokes fan, I know how they can sometimes phone it in and just put on a decent show, but they really exceeded all of my expectations and put on one of the best shows I've ever seen. My only real complaint was that I wish they played more Comedown Machine songs.

Urghhh. My friend offered me a ticket to the Strokes yesterday but I turned it down because I figured I'll just see them at govball……just found out I can't do sat or sun at govball anymore and had to sell my ticket : ( Praying that the Strokes come back soon (though I realize its pretty unlikely)
