Goddd... I convinced all my friends to leave early for the skrillex superjam. Then when the time came I really didn't want to leave. But I did an waited an hour and a half and never even really got into it. I wish I had followed my instincts and stayed at Jack White
Jack white was awesome! Unlike Kanyes super long rang, he gave a pretty simple 'rolling Stones magazine what? Music is about me and you' speech and went on about his music.
It was an amazing night. Jack white and flips just blew my mind.
I was lucky enough to get in the pit for this. It was the best set of the weekend and the best performance I've ever seen from Jack. I feel bad for anyone who missed this because they thought they "had something better to do".
Nice. Definitely my favorite break from the show. Cool little backstory with him and Benson.
Man I can't get over how much ass he kicked. What a great moment. Really felt like we witnessed a peak moment in the career of Jack White.
This is hilarious! Still trying to drag Jack down to Kanyes level?? Why are we even mentioning Kanye in a Jack White thread? I watched Jacks set on tv with 3 people who had no opinion of him. They were blown away! Thought he was an outstanding musician and performer, was genuine to his band and audience, and was a total pro. I sat there smiling, with my own like of Jack rising to love. Fantastic headliner. Same can be said about Elton.

The encore sounds like it was awesome. Misirlou would have been surreal.
Headed over after Lauryn Hill and watched from afar. I was pretty disappointed in his talking and his leaning on Lazaretto material, but the set seemed to get better as it went on. Still left early for Nick Cave.
Also, I was really annoyed that he was playing up his southern accent so much.
(1) Damon Albarn (2) Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds (3) King Khan & His Shrines (4) Ty Segall (5) Ms Lauryn Hill (6) Darkside (7) Kanye (8) Janelle Monae (9) Goat (10) Meshuggah.

Wow, inforoo is fucking depressing.
I'm hopping into all of these threads to talk about how great of a time I had. How is everyone already back in the mood to argue about this dumb bullshit. Do people just go to Bonnaroo with folded shoulders and look for shit to complain about? Seems like all of the great people I met and the weekend I had is not represented here at all. If you got offended or upset by what Jack said... jesus... thats soft. The complaints made in the post above me seem rational btw J@lonetriker. Not speaking towards that.
He dominated the farm imo. Everyone around me was basically flipping out during his jams and solos. Loved Little Bird getting slipped in right before the end as I know he doesn't always play it.

This was the best set of the weekend hands down. I cant believe Im saying this but out of the last 3 years when Ive gone this was second only to McCartney for headlining sets. Never thought he would have topped Radiohead but goddamit he did!

Saw him at Governors Ball and Bonnaroo the following week. Seemed like he was really trying to impress at Bonnaroo and he didn't disappoint. I'd give is Govball set an 9/10 and his Roo set a 10/10

I saw both as well and definitely felt like he gave more of an effort to Bonnaroo. It was great and I really believed he viewed it as an opportunity to prove just WHY he was given the headliner slot. When he was announced there was concern about "Is he really a headliner?" and I think he answered with a resounding "HELL YES".

For me, it topped McCartney. The fact that I was in the pit has something to do with it, but it was just insane the energy that was going from both the crowd and from stage. I've seen his solo act before, and this was a completely new level if performance. Macca set had energy from the crowd, but it was just a different feel Saturday night. Jack's set is my #1 show ever, and I don't know what can ever top it.
I very very deeply regret running back to camp at the beginning of his set and then standing in the pit line after he was already on, as both of these things took me away from the music, but damn, Seven Nation Army was the best thing that happened to me at any Roo ever. He just kept playing song after song and then capped it off terrifically.

This was my favorite set of the weekend as well. Fantastic setlist, loved all of his banter, seemed to be putting in his all, and played well beyond his listed set time. Also helped that this was my first time making it into the pit at the What stage.

I think he wanted to prove who the greatest living rock star really is.

It was my first time in the pit at the What as well. I decided to start camping after cake. The pit crowd was amazing.

I actually quite enjoyed most of the Lazeretto songs. High Ball Stepper, man I didn't even realize the potential of that song when it was released first.
Why does Jack get away with being such an arrogant prick but Kanye gets bashed? Personally, I've always thought JW is an overrated douchebag. I mean his set did suck, right?
Shouldn't the "biggest rockstar in the world" inspire more conversation? We're 80 pages ahead of you guys over in the Kanye thread (I know he sucks and all but still). LETS TALK JACK

I’m gonna go have a smoke right now. You want a smoke? You don’t smoke, do ya, right? What are ya, one of those fitness freaks, huh? Go fuck yourself.
“That might have been the greatest show I’ve seen in my life. It was more punk, more in-your-face than anything I’ve seen." - Jack's thoughts on the Yeezus tour
Loved the set list. Pretty much prefect for me. Was it just me or was his set extremely loud? I was in the back and felt like I was in the pit. So I know pit had to of been crazy.

Everyone was loud on What this year that I saw. The feedback was bad towards the middle. I had much higher audio quality when we moved over towards the vip hill.
Cowboy, a guy in my group, had seen jack several times. He was playing music he never plays, and generally he doesn't talk to the audience he is playing for. Cowboy said Jack was into it from the get go.

I love how Jack White gets to talk as much as he wants and it's considered charming and evidence of it being a special show, while Kanye gets berated and insulted all weekend for doing the same thing.
