Not sure you'll have to wait in line very long to get in the pit for this considering some people got in the pit for PP, Wilco and Macca last year... I may show up a half hour-45 mins before and see if I can get in. The Kanye pit may be a different story
I really think like 80% of the people at the festival have no idea how the pit works.
Let's keep it that way.
Let us never speak of it again.
I agree...it needs to remain a secret. Im almost positive most people think it is some kind of VIP area. I was in the pit for 5 shows last year. I will usually check the line about 30-45 minutes before the show and if it is 2 long just go back half way though the set. People leave for other shows I guess and I almost always get in when its past half way.

Maybe I should have kept my mouth shut.
But if it hadn't been for Inforoo then I would have never found out about the pit myself. My first year I never even realized it was there.
Ps. This is an amazing interview if you have not seen it.
This is one of my favorites. This and the video where he and Stephen Colbert try to out-Catholic each other and Jack yells "SCAPULAR!" at the tops of his lungs.
How long will his set be? I remember at Lollapalooza it was an hour and half and I'm pretty sure that's what he got at Voodoo and Firefly as well.
Since he's a top 3 headliner and performing saturday night, he'll get a 2 hour slot. Granted, he's one for encores, so expect him for a solid 2.5 hours

I'm a huge Jack White fan but I'm not expecting him to play for 2.5 hours. Even with encores. His Outside Lands set was only 16 songs long. I think it'll be more like Arcade Fire who went a little over an hour and a half. I'd love to be wrong and have him do a huge, epic set maybe with some guests and things but I could see him playing under 2 hours.
My ex made me leave roo right before The White Stripes played their set because he was tired and wanted to go home. We lived in Knoxville at the time, so the drive was not even that long. I have never forgiven him for that. I am definitely excited I finally get a chance to see Jack White.
Jesus Christ! That's awful. That mother fucker could have walked to Knoxville.
You are going to freak your shit at Jack's show. Soul affirming rock and roll type shit.

I gotta agree with r here.
While it isn't out of the realm of possibility, I wouldn't count on 2.5 hours, or even 2 hours for that matter. Granted, I haven't researched every show, but it was my understanding that a typical Jack White show is around 90 minutes.
He did do a few album release shows where he played one set with each band - those shows were almost exactly two hours, but that includes the setbreak. Perhaps Bonnaroo booked him for a performance like this? That would be awesome.
I really, really hope that I'm wrong and you're right, but if Jack White plays a 2.5 hour show at Bonnaroo, it will be one of the longest (and probably most amazing) shows of his career thus far.

Major points for this post! My girlfriend and I were at this show and it was unforgettable. Think I will make a copy of this vid. Thanks
I've also seen him in all of the manifestations. I've been hoping for a shot at the latest endeavor.
Right on. It's fantastic. White Stripes is the only incarnation I've missed, but on the Blunderbuss tour he is effectively surrounded in a half-circle by either the male/female band so he's very much 'leading the band', a departure from Raconteurs and Horehound live.
It's great in that way and because he'll get into face of whomever is playing the key instrument at a particular time to get them even more into it. It's high energy rock and roll and it's fucking killer!

There is no way Jack will hit the 2.5 hour mark. 2 hours is pushing it for him. He isn't exactly known for epic drawn out performances that go on and on and on.
I also wonder if he will impose his famous no cameras plea during his Bonnaroo set.

(1) Damon Albarn (2) Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds (3) King Khan & His Shrines (4) Ty Segall (5) Ms Lauryn Hill (6) Darkside (7) Kanye (8) Janelle Monae (9) Goat (10) Meshuggah.
One thing that greatly excites me about this show is that the JACK WHITE WITTY UNPREDICTABLE factor is fully in play. Will he play with the Peac ocks? Will he play with the Buzzards? OR will he play with some concoction of musicians that is completely unknown to anyone at this time? Only JW knows. We may have to wait 'til breakfast that morning to find out.
This is my number 1 show of the weekend. I've only seen Jack once and that was with the Dead Weather opening for the Flaming Lips in 2010, and he played second fiddle to Allison Mosshart most of the night. I had tickets to the White Stripes show in Nebraska back in 2007 but then Meg had the anxiety and cancelled. Pretty broken up about that still!
I can see a solid hour and 45 minute set from Jack spanning his solo work, WS, Rac, and DW. Given that he's a man for collaboration, maybe we'll see some guests? Who knows, maybe Meg will come out....

I think he did a few shows last tour where he split the set between the two but I may be wrong.

City and Colour is on the lineup and their bass player is one of the guys from the Raconteurs, hmmmmmmmm.
..apparently said guy plays in the Dead Weather too, forgive me because I will admit I'm more knowledgeable about City and Colour than I am Jack White...I love me some Jack White though.

More material for the Roo show. Awesome. Could actually end up being a longer set than usual.
Jack White presents his new album LAZARETTO to be released June 10th. Experience a first taste of new music from the album and watch the video for new instrumental track "High Ball Stepper" now while we await the debut of first official single and title track "Lazaretto" later this month. FOLLOW-UP TO GOLD-CERTIFIED INTERNATIONAL #1 BLUNDERBUSS OUT JUNE 10 ON THIRD MAN RECORDS/COLUMBIA
Jack White presents his new album Lazaretto, to be released June 10th on Third Man Records/Columbia. Lazaretto inhabits an exciting place in White's expansive discography as the follow-up to 2012's gold-certified international #1 Blunderbuss, and will be preceded by first single and title track "Lazaretto," to be released later this month. While we await the debut of that first official single, listeners can experience a first taste of new music from the album and watch the video for new instrumental track "High Ball Stepper."
The aforementioned Blunderbuss was the first U.S. #1 album of Jack's storied career, also debuting at #1 in the UK, Canada, and, naturally, Switzerland. Blunderbuss was supported by an ambitious world tour featuring two backing bands, the all-male Buzzards and all-female Peacocks, notched up five GRAMMY nominations including Album of the Year, and dominated Best of 2012 lists, including being named MOJO's #1 album of 2012.
In celebration of the new album and their 20th Vault package, Third Man has unveiled their most unique Vault package yet.
The LP for Third Man Records' Vault Package #20 will be the ONLY limited version of Lazaretto to be released. Pressed on split-color blue-and-white vinyl and coupled with exclusive album art, this alternate presentation of the album is both insightful and deserving. Also exclusive to the Vault is a fold-out poster accompanying the album, featuring a classic National Archives photo that serves as a recurrent image throughout the album art.
Unlike the lightning bolt and inverted lightning bolt pressings Third Man did for Jack White's Blunderbuss, this alternate art and colored vinyl will be the only time ANY variation on Lazaretto will be made. Once subscriptions are closed and records are pressed... that's it. Don't sleep. Get in now or regret it later.
The 7-inch includes two early demos of songs that appear on Lazaretto in their completed form. Both "Alone in My Home" and "Entitlement" are solo recordings by Jack White, done while he was in Mexico. Pressed on lustrous blue vinyl and housed in the standard felt-weave, die-cut Third Man Vault 7-inch sleeve, both tracks offer a unique glimpse into the creative process and evolution of a song from it's original germination to its final delivery.
The bonus item is a lavish 40-page hard bound companion piece book full of lyrics, exclusive musical notations, photos and art from Lazaretto. This is the perfect accompaniment to the listening experience and insight into both the album creation method and some of the inspiration (visual and otherwise) behind it.
In addition to these items, Vault package #20 will also include a linen, letter-pressed postcard with the same eye-popping color separations as evidenced in classic chromatic postcards popular in the first half of the 20th century. Stamps not included.
