Eh, not really how it works. By June, they could have a new single on the air, even though the album doesn't come out for another 1-2 months. So they would definitely play something new, if the circumstances were right-like having a new record drop shortly. They did it for a few songs from 1x1 at Coachella, or 'But Honestly' in 2007. Nothing is written in stone.
I think even if the album wont be out until fall we maybe could expect a teaser. If the album is expected at all before 2015 and they do the festival circuit I would think Dave & the boys would have a little something to get us pumped. Mostly I need some classics though and by that I mean an acoustic sing along of Everlong (one can dream).
Also, the Hangout lineup is out tomorrow and they were flashing throwback pics of the Foos on Twitter and Facebook a few weeks ago. Thoughts? I'd say if they're at Firefly AND Hangout we can move further into suspicion about Bonnaroo.

Hangout headliners are OutKast and Jack Johnson. If they add Foo to that it'll make the exact same thing as firefly, so I seriously doubt it. Also, it's a bit soon for them
2014 Festivals:
Ultra Music Festival Buenos Aires
A State of Trance Buenos Aires
Ultra Music Festival Miami
EDC Las Vegas
Bonnaroo
Electric Forest
Lollapalooza
If they're between albums, the setlist varies. They'll still play 4-5 from wasting light, a few new ones, then some classics. If you're lucky, an obscure 'Wattershed' or 'Enough Space'.
They had Resolve, Headwires, and Alone + Easy Target on the setlist for the Mexico shows......but didn't play any of them and I was super bummed

Yeah I saw. Had it been in the U.S. they probably would've played them, but it was their first time ever playing in Mexico. I think they wanted to play it safe and keep it to classics. 'Headwires' would've been incredible. Such a beautiful song.

It would seem a bit tacky if hangout and Firefly had the exact same headliners. Perhaps it was a crazy coincidence, and they posted some throwbacks reflecting back on the old days? Either way, if hangout doesn't get them, I'm still just as optimistic that Roo will get them. Foos have clearly stated that they're available for the summer festival circuit.

I was surprised that they switched up the setlists though. They don't seem to do that much, besides swapping a few songs. And agggghhh I know, they had a great transition going from Headwires to Alone + Easy Target and practiced it during soundcheck on the day of the second show and it was SO perfect. Then they didn't play it... But they play For All The Cows, Generator, Hey Johnny Park, Young Man Blues, some other ones they don't play too much anymore. I really don't even care what they play, I just want them at Bonnaroo hahah

The end of the 'Wasting Light' tour they started putting 'Generator' and 'Hey JP' in the set pretty frequently. Songs like 'Alone + Easy Target' and 'Headwires' are a real treat. They're good at making festival appearances very memorable. Lollapalooza was fucking awesome to be at. Reading, Hyde Park, etc. Their is always some kind of special experience involved. Dave Grohl is competitive against other headliners, and always wants to one up you. It's just guaranteed to be a killer show.

Really? I heard HJP a few times but never Generator. According to a girl I know that's seen them a ton of times and in different countries, they mostly bring Generator out when they're outside the US, haha. And oh believe me, I know. Every show I've gone to has been great. I just want them on the farm.
The only time I got Generator on the WL tour was early on. Toronto, August 2011.
I've seen them play Generator a bit actually. The Metro (chicago 2011) Excel Energy Center (St. Paul 2011) Scottstrade Center (St. Louis 2011). Now that I think about it, I haven't seen them play it this often since I saw them on the 'There is nothing left to lose' tour. For their recent shows, they played it at Reading, Leads, Tennent V. They also just played it at the Secret Pizza Place show. So they played it pretty frequently during the beginning and end of the WL tour. I really don't think it's that big of a rarity. Like Gimmie Stitches for example.
Imagine this setlist at Bonnaroo. 35 songs? Yes please.

To be fair, I wasn't considering Generator a "rarity," I had just never heard it in the bunch of shows I've been to until I heard it in Mexico. And hahaha I wish! They don't even play 35 songs regularly, let alone as a festival set. That would be awesome.
With all the other line ups dropping and Foos still only being on Firefly, I have a feeling that may be all we'll see from them on the festival circuit this summer, at least in the US. I'm still holding out for Roo, but if it doesn't happen I'm sure I'll have fun at my first Firefly. If Roo headliners haven't leaked early February I'm hoping to have an answer by then.

I just find it difficult to believe that Firefly of all festivals would be the only one to get a band like the Foos. I don't know, that's just me. I'll keep hoping for a Dave appearance until the day the lineup drops.

I agree. But at the same time I could see them just playing one festival or something like that. I'm still hoping they're at Roo though, it's all I want!

This is what I'm thinking. Just because they're not whoring themselves to the festival market like Outkast doesn't mean it's not possible. It's not like Foo Fighters to play just 1 summer festival and be done. Since they booked Firefly, I think they'll do a few U.S. festivals this summer, and play Europe festivals next summer. Foo Fighters are yet to play bonnaroo-the roo booking staff is aware of that. They have to be in high consideration, and a big appeal for bonnaroo.

Im in the camp of there is no way they play only one festival this year, and no way its only going to be Firefly. If you look at it this way, no other festival getting them actually benefits Bonnaroo. And those guys at a Superjam would be great. That being said, I dont think there will be a Fooaroo 2014.

I agree, I'm sure they'll play more shows and/or festivals than Firefly, but I almost feel like it was a huge deal for Firefly so why would Bonnaroo have two of three of the same headliners as Firefly (assuming we get OutKast too)?? I want Foo Fighters on the farm more than anything but I'm leaning towards "probably not gonna happen" but I guess that's also me not getting my hopes up so I'm no devastated if they aren't on the lineup, haha. Superjam with any of them would be amazing... It would obviously/most likely be Dave but I would love to see Taylor be in a Superjam as the drummer (and let him sing a few songs!)

Unfortunately this is the reality of the situation and it sucks. I feel if we get a big enough headliner and a unique number 4 (GaGa) then it could work.
All I want to experience is Dave leading 80,000+ people in singing My Hero on the farm. Is that too to much to ask? In fact I get chills thinking about it.

No, it's not too much. It NEEDS to happen! ...and also that acoustic version of Everlong that I mentioned earlier.

I can see this happening in my head and it just gets me so excited.
also, I saw the Foo Fighters at the Garden, the last night of one of the American legs of the Wasting Light tour. Good show. Social D and Joy Formidable opened. Probably would be even better sans curfew.

With that logic, wouldn't that make Outkast completely out of the question?
