Jason Isbell and Frank Turner & the Sleeping Souls were new discoveries for me and I really enjoyed both of their sets. I had never seen Avetts love before either, so they kinda sorta really blew me away. The weather was absolutely perfect too. It really was a fantastic weekend!
This was our first time at this fest and had a great time. The size of it is just perfect. The kids also really had a great time too.
So this was my 11th Avett show in 2 yrs and probably in my top two favorites. It even topped their New Years and Red Rocks show for me. It's also the closest I've ever been. Very close to the rail and it was just amazing. The bands energy and the crowds as well was just so amazing. Such a fun night and weekend.
I'm watching some videos I took over the weekend, and carp44, the back of your head is in pretty much every video/picture I took during Avetts. I really looked for your hat and its cracking me up that you were literally like 3 people in front of me and I didn't see you till you were leaving... go figure.

Whelp I'm sad that another great Nelsonville weekend is over. Sooooo many good things happening with this fest. The camping set-up was the best I've ever experienced at a festival - there was plenty of room to spread out and amenities were close and cheap. The late night dance parties in the campground were an amazing idea and tons of fun. The music was, as usual, out of this world. I just counted 18 bands that I saw and there was only one disappointing set - and as usual it was super easy to get up close to the stage. I'm not surprised they set an attendance record - the crowd was significantly larger than the past few years. They really hit it out of the park with the weather and Avett it seems. Though I too was disappointed in the seemingly small crowd for some of the bands - for example The Men on Friday were amazing and didn't have the turn-out I expected. Oh well! How can they top it next year? Is NMF too small to pull the Jacket?! I hope anyone considering this festival can make it next year - you will not be disappointed.

Thanks for the summary. I'm definitely going to try and make this next year. It was too close to Shaky Knees to be away for a 2nd weekend in May, but next year I'm tempted to try this one instead if the lineup is as good.

I think one of my favorite parts of this festival was how clean the Portos were !
In all honesty I give this fest a 10/10 I don't thinkni could've asked for more I really only went to have a fun festival weekend and to see avert head and the heart and a few others whose names evade me right now.
But wow I experience some if the best music and the best vibe ever! People were amazing music was to die for the setting oh my god amazing!!! And the campgrounds were fun as hell! Plus I got to dance my ass off to 3 in the morning with a ton of other people!
Seriously if you can make it I suggest going I think it's my second favorite fest next to roo

I was real suprised you made it that far up when I did see you! (I was also sure at any moment my bladder was going to explode and I would die like that girl from the Poltergiest movies! lol) What did you think of The Head and the Heart? That was easily my favorite set of the weekend. You missed out on the pool as well!!! That was right up there with Head and Heart for highlight of the weekend honors!!

oh my lord, I had to pee from the middle of the head and the heart on. I'm surprised I made it till the end of Avetts actually. H&H were pretty impressive, but I was blown away by Avetts. They were most def the highlight of the weekend for me. I didn't know what to expect from them live, but they exceeded all expectations I had. I did miss out on the pool. But I was enjoying some air conditioning while you were doing that, so it all worked out
I'll have to post/ send you some of these pictures & videos though because you're seriously in nearly every single one, Mr. "I'm so close it's hard to fit another person"... I know how to politely shimmy my way up in a crowd. Actually, that's about where I was the entire time I was texting you to begin with. Lol!
See I told you I wasn't exagerating, I couldnt even move really because of everyone sitting around me! Avetts are always a good show live. I believe them. Which is big for me. Had I Realized I could basically just jump back about 50 feet if I had used the restroom during Avetts I would have, but they were putting on a good show and I honestly kinda forgot about it until the end.
Maybe it was just that my bar was set much lower for Head and Heart. I've seen them 4 times now and 2 have been fantastic and 2 just kinda eeeh. There were a lot of bands I had never heard of because I'm getting all old and out of touch that I was pleasantly suprised for. That pool was almost enough to get me to come back every year now. How many festivals can you leave drive less than 5 minutes, and pay 4$ for a day at the pool? Or at least a few hours until your next band plays.. beats the tree shade naps at Bonnaroo. I would have paid 4$ for a shower so the pool was just a bonus!

Every picture dude, every picture.
And yes, if I had stayed all day I would've most def joined you at the pool. $4 to go swimming, that's amazing.
