Why wouldn't you count on any adds? There have been adds the past 8 years of the festival at least, I can't remember any further back.
They are releasing the daily schedule this week not the full schedule.
Of course they are going to add acts, they need to sell more tickets once the price goes up. Common sense'd.
Isn't this the first year it's being run my LiveNation? I would never count on them to do anything good. Especially if it's common sense
Also, I live in the city. Is it worth paying $50 for the 3 day parking pass or just find a spot on esplanade? I work at Morris Jeff so I could park at work and walk to the museum entrance...
I live walking distance from City Park, but you can also easily park somewhere in Mid City or Bayou St John and walk. Just park in front of a house.
They are releasing the daily schedule this week not the full schedule.
You do realize the FULL schedule was released on Thursday, Sept 5th last year right? I mean, if you can remember the past 8 years, I'd think you'd know this.
Damn. Forget we are less than 9 weeks out. I'd bet more on a 1 off kind of add unless that publication that referenced 6 stages was right. I called that out since they only had 4 last year and have about the same number of acts. I want more of course, but I am very happy with the lineup already. Biggest bitch is going to be the midcard conflicts. I swear that this is shaping up to be an all time worst set of conflicts for me.
It does still say "& many more" on the lineup...probably just a few small slots though. How am I just now noticing that Marchforth Marching Band is at the end of the lineup before that? That means we're going to have to get there really early one day.
Gogol Bordello is on Sunday per the bands tour dates. This is good news for me as I was sure they were going to be in a stupid conflict with Slayer or Melvins.
Did you get to town last night for the Nik Turner's Hawkwind show? A buddy of mine and I kind of made the decision around 11:30 to go down there. We missed the German Band (begins with B and in German that was also his backing band), Witch Mountain and Hall of Wizards, but random freaks hanging outside Sibera talked up all three of those openers. I thought the show was great and completely different from when we saw him 15-20 years ago. It was way more Hawkwind-ish than Turner styled Metal. Lots of random old stuff like Space is Deep, Shouldn't Do That, Silver Machine, (and I think I even heard PXR5 outside smoking a cig). He opened up with a sax solo of Pink Panther (whatever that song's name is) and straight into something old. I got the first 20 minutes which I'll upload to Youtube later tonight from Wi-Fi. I also got a nice 5 minute clip toward the end which is great. -------------------------------- Edit in:
For the DFA1979 fans, the local paper is reporting you can stream their new album in its entirety until September 9th.
We both blew it on Hawkwind. I couldn't get out of work and had to wake up at 4:30am today (aka about what time I would have gotten home had I went). danny_glover_too_old_for_that_shit.jpg
I hear you. Siberia is tough on a work night because they always want to go until the wee hours. Last month, Mentors didn't come on until 2:15 and I gotta be at work at 8ish, so I got to watch 2 songs before having to bolt. I think you'll be surprised. I'll edit in an embedded link to this post once I get them up and YouTube accepts. Psychadelic, but I didn't see that many trippers for whatever reason.
Edit in: It's probably been posted, but Galactic is playing Tipitina's Halloween night at 11pm. Not sure if there are still tickets or not. Howlin' Wolf has Reverend Horton Heat with Suplecs.

Could I realistically make it to that Galactic show if I stay all day for Voodoo?
Tickets are still available for that galactic show... I guess ill make my decision based on the schedule today. If by some miracle, foo fighters and Outkast are Saturday and Sunday, I'll buy a ticket for galactic
Yeah, he's like 74. YouTube is being dyx for some reason and jacking me around on the upload. I must have tried 10 times yesterday to get a high def version up to no avail. I'll give it another few shots and if that doesn't work, I may just upload the short clip non-HD. I'll be sure to post.
10 Minutes til the schedule. I tried to find the realease in advance, but I can't get it.
Looks like I'll be missing Rebirth ( ) and about half of every set up until Slayer and probably half of the Mevlins but if they are kicking it, I'll just watch through that and catch the back of Outkast since I saw them at Hangout already.
Sunday is so stacked for me and Saturday only has a few "must-see"s :/ I'll definitely being seeing Foo Fighters obviously but even if it was close, PL at 7:30 would be a deal-breaker
Foo Fighters are Sunday. That's a change of format bringing in the biggest headliner on close day. John Butler Trio added. That's pretty sweet. Still looking for Saturday/Sunday cubes.

Quintron and Miss Pussycat and The Revivalist are both worth seeing early Sunday. kevbot, if you haven't checked them out yet, I have a feeling you would enjoy The Revivalist. Their live show is really high energy.
Edit: Oh, wait. I thought you said Sunday was the weak day of the fest. I see you said Saturday and that does look lackluster. Honey Island and March Fourth both put on fun shows.
****. I should have read the email and clicked on the cube! Yeah, Saturday is the weakest, and Sunday and Friday are stacked hard.
Saturday:
Flow Tribe - 3:00 Barcelona? - 4:00 DFA1979 - 4:30 Pete Tong - 5:30 MarchFourth - 6:00 Flux Pavillion/30STM - 7:45 Benjamin Booker - 8:30 Big Freedia - 9:00 Skrillex/Arctic Monkeys - after Freedia
Sunday
Church - 11:30 Quintron - 12:30 Bo Ningen - 1:00 John Butler Trio - 1:45 World/Inferno Friendship Society - 2:30 Barely Alive - 3:00 Fuel/Herobust - 4:00 Shorty - 4:45 Griz - 5:00 Gogol Bordello - After Griz Feddie Le Grande - 6:00 Foo Fighters - 6:30 - Looks like they have a solid 2 and a half hour set
Bumming on the Sunday conflicts though. I will pretty much have to miss Pretty Lights, Manchester Orchestra, London Souls and most of Shorty. Damn.
Overall, this will be a kick ass weekend but unfortunately a lot of partial shows just like I've been guessing there would be all along. I guess there is too much stuff I like this time around.
Y'all notice that March Fourth Marching Band is across the top of both Saturday and Sunday after the headliners? I'm assuming they'll be out in the crowd raging it after the shows over, that should be cool.
Friday is going to be epcot facemelting, Saturday is a good recovery day with a few good moments, and Sunday will be tittayz.
Lookin' like for nighttime events gonna hit up: 10/30- Up in the air. Maybe Moon Taxi? Gonna wait til the Krewe of Boo party lineup is announced, they had Pimps of Joytime last year that had to be sweet. Halloween: Fishbone and March4th @ Joy Theater 11/1- KDTU @ Frenchmen Theater (Esteban, do you have an info about this place? I haven't heard of it. Is it down by The John or is it in the middle of all the other clubs?)
No. I heard of it, but I think it's new. 516 Frenchman is down between Chartres and Decatur so that's in the middle of the block between Blue Nile and Maison.
Edit: No, I missed that. That's pretty cool and yeah, they are all stages, so they'll probably just be partying and second lining amongst the crowd.
Btw, here is the low resolution version of Nik playing the flute doing an old Hawkwind song. Eventually I'll get the non-blurry HD version up and part of the 20 minute intro.
Sat- Naughty Professor > ? > ? > ? > MarchFourth > City and Colour > Benjamin Booker > Arctic Monkeys > Revivalists
Sunday- Trombone Shorty (the schedule on the app says he's playing the first set but I'm sure that's wrong and my plans are ruined) > ? > AWOLNATION (I guess :/) > Fuel > Gogol Bordello > Foo Fighters (really bummed to miss PL and London Souls)
