Sat- Naughty Professor > ? > ? > ? > MarchFourth > City and Colour > Benjamin Booker > Arctic Monkeys > Revivalists
Sunday- Trombone Shorty (the schedule on the app says he's playing the first set but I'm sure that's wrong and my plans are ruined) > ? > AWOLNATION (I guess :/) > Fuel > Gogol Bordello > Foo Fighters (really bummed to miss PL and London Souls)

see Lauryn Hill.
I knew the app schedule was shit. She wasn't even on there
I won't flame you for JBT, because I'll be there too. I have watched some of their sets on YouTube in advance of Waka this year and they jammed. But there was a conflict for Waka, so I never got to see them (thinking might have been late night Sunday around the time we blew out).
Bo Ningen is a Japanese Punk-Metal band. They have some cool stuff on YouTube (definitely better/harder than Peelander-Z but maybe not so much an lol/steel chair shot factor). Buddy in Austin told me World Inferno was some wimpy indy-hipster band, but they look like a freak show.
As for Shorty showing up 10:00am on Sunday in the app (which I see now), on the cubes on the website, he shows up at 4:45 - 6:00pm on Sunday which is in direct conflict for me with Griz (5-6) and Gogol Bordello (5:30-6:30). I'll catch the first couple of songs though for sure.

I really really hate how their schedule is just an image. I love being able to make a custom schedule and highly a block for an artist I want to see and visually see my schedule all mapped out.

Funny you say that, I pretty much hate every "build your schedule" mechanism I've come across. I'd much prefer something I can print to PDF and markup myself.

Bonnaroos schedule wouldn't even print last year.
And all schedules on apps suck.
I find both arguments equally valid. I like the ease of planning my schedule on an interactive app, but they all suck when it come to comparability and ease of printing
Haha. Repping that VIP Loa credentials. We are peppering next year with VIPs for Buku, Waka and Bonnaroo along with GA for Hangout. Might give Voodoo a shot next year.
This will be my 4th LOA experience in a row...bought them during xmas sale. Worth it just for the bathrooms and front stage access. The free massages are pretty baller too. Def getting a massage on saturday while Jared Leto is derping it up.

Friday
Slayer > Melvins > Outkast
I'm pretty sure we'll be driving over after work so I can't make it earlier in the day. Sucks because Friday looks like fun, but I think the above will leave me pretty satisfied.
Saturday
Peelander Z > March 4th > Flux Pavilion > Benjamin Booker > Big Free > Arctic Monkeys
Sunday
The Revivalists > Trombone Shorty > Fedde Le Grand > Foo Fighters
2.5 hour Foo Fighters set in NOLA will be awesome.
Still need to research some of the smaller/earlier in the day bands but this is what I have now. Definitely some conflicts I'd rather not have (hate to miss Pretty Lights, I know a lot of you are sick of him but I love every show), but overall I can't complain, looks like a dope weekend.
Will also probably do the Joy Theater show, I'll be a few blocks away at the Hyatt so why not.

Tentative Schedule:
Friday: Royal Teeth > Le Youth > Twenty One Pilots > MAKJ > Rise Against > Galantis > Action Bronson > Slayer > Melvins > Outkast > Booka Shade
Saturday: Tysson > Trent Cantrelle > ASTR > Death From Above 1979 > Pete Tong > Ms. Lauryn Hill > Claude Von Stroke > Thirday Seconds To Mars > Flux Pavilion > Benjamin Booker > Big Freedia > Skrillex > Arctic Monkeys
Sunday: Nostalghia > Bo Ningen > John Butler Trio > ? > AWOLNATION > FUEL > Trombone Shorty > Griz > Gogol Bordello > Fedde Le Grand > Foo Fighters
Random stuff on Saturday that might be worth checking out: A couple of people told me Desert Noises were good, but I still have to check them out. I plan to hit some of Benjamin Booker. I have 2 or 3 posts a couple of pages back in this thread that include interviews or articles. He's from Florida but based in NOLA now. I've only seen him on late night TV and YouTube. He's kind of blowing up and generating a national buzz in a similar way that Gary Clark Jr. did a few years ago. His style is raw-er and more garage-y, but I'm going to check some of that show out. Flow Tribe is an up and coming NOLA band. They're all young guys and play generally funky type stuff. Givers is an indy band out of Lafayette, LA who are popular. I don't know Tysson or Naughty Professor, but Jabco told me they are on his schedule.
As for Sunday, I'm going to see JBT whom I haven't seen yet. London Souls sound great, but that's a direct conflict with Foo Fighters. If you haven't seen Shorty & Orleans Ave., and they don't conflict with what you have out for Sunday, you probably want to see them. I've seen them probably 10-12 times, and they are always great though sometimes shows might be heavier on funk, rock, R&B, jazz, etc. depending upon whom they are playing for/to. But they still mix it up. A lot of younger people (20's) in town like Revivalists. They aren't so much my thing, but they put on a good show and are worth a couple of songs. I'm the only one so far who has Barely Alive on their schedule. That is kind of hard-dub out of Massachusetts. I'll be at that one, but I'm not recommending it or anything as I have no idea what to expect. Griz is my favorite DJ, so that will probablly end up being one of my top 5 shows of the weekend. You have a 30 mintue slot there, so you might want to pass by that area to catch the beginning between Manchester Orchestra and AWOL Nation. He is a very accomplished musician who happens to be a DJ and sax player (maybe a little dancier than what I would typically listen to in thsi genre, but he still brings it). When listening to electronica (and rap as well for that matter), I prefer some live instrumentation.
Those are a couple of ideas. Thing about Voodoo is that almost no one goes in the daytime. It's my theory (thought it doesn't hold up for JazzFest) that since we're such a late night town, no one wants to do anything early. It kind of sucks for day side artists because many of the regional festivals I have been to (Hangout, ACL, etc.) get packed early whereas sometimes at Voodoo they might be playing to a crowd of 25-50 people (obviously more at the main stage). It's literally wide open where you can walk up to the front row of almost any set. Keith Speara noted in his lengthy article yesterday about the main stage not having anything until 3ish on 2 of the days (I'll post the link below). But at the same time, this is kind of cool because say you were a giant Arctic Monkeys fan. You'd be able to post up a front row spot without having to run there when the gates first open. You can just post up there later easily enough.

Thanks for all the tips! I definitely want to check out at least a few minutes of Benjamin Booker and London Souls do sound great but I can't let anything get between me and 2.5 solid hours of Dave Grohl and the guys!
Shorty & Orleans Ave is a tough choice for me bc I've seen them but I also love them so maybe a little detour to that set is in order. Checking out some Griz on Spotify now...yup, gonna have to check that out for at least a couple songs before AWOL. Here's the problem with pre-fest music discovery: I fall in love with everything and then can't make any tough choices. Regardless of what I see during the day though, I know the nights are going to be crazy. I'm getting super excited!
Yeah you right. Those are just some random smaller billed things. I'm the same way in that if something sounds good to me, I'll want to see that. I am pretty wide open on Friday, as I didn't have anything scheduled until 3:30 for Soul Rebels who I think are a Top 3 brass band in the city along with Rebirth and Hot 8. Then Saturday I had Flow Tribe at 3:00, but I'm probably just going to swing by that. I plan on trying to get out of the house by 11:30 to walk to Voodoo every day, so there are a few early hours each day that I need to fill some time slots. Oh, and if you get in early enough Friday and you haven't seen them yet, Fishbone (ska/punk/rock out of L.A.) is always entertaining.
Some ideas I got from a buddy for Saturday which I'll need to check out are Sturgill Simpson and St. Cecelia's Asylum Choir. I'll probably swing by Hello Negro. He is a super young, local DJ guy who played Buku last year but I didn't get to see any of that set. I guess for early Saturday, I'll research Naughty Professor, Desert Noises and Tysson. To be determined for sure.
Esteban- I def recommend checking out Naughty Professor. I've seen them a few times now and they are a great time. The vibe I get from them is like very early 70s Zappa, like Grand Wazoo/Waka Jawaka era. They do their own thing obviously but their arrangements def remind me of that.

Word. Jabco texted me a tentative and he's got that on there for Saturday. I've got the early stuff wide open (assumes being able to function Sat early) and will probably hit that and Desert Noises Saturday early. I just didn't put anything out there before 3 since I didn't know most of it and was unsure what time I'll get there Saturday. With Hallowwen on Friday, that drags out often until 5 or 6 am. If I'm good and just walk home and go to sleep, I'll be there for both of those sets. I love Zappa so that's high praise as well as you guys see even more shit than I do, so I fully respect the recommendation. Thanks.
Also, I wish there was anything else I wanted to see Saturday for Bayfest to make the drive and expense to see Janes worth it. I would have totally gone had they been Friday or Sunday. We have Gretna Fest that weekend which is sub-Derp if you can believe that. There are some good and okay stuff (Funky Meters, Robert Randolph and Wick-it), but Saturday actually ends with Big Smo and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Maybe if it was eArly 70s I'd see Skynyrd, but not 20teens and not at a fest on the West Bank. So Jabco told me to check Big Smo out for disbelief factor. I went to YouTube and Kick Mud came up. I made it through about 40 seconds until the Chevy Truck/ford tough double truck reference and had to shut that fucker off. Damn. It's like even worse than what I could have imagined. So imagine a white trash spectacular with those two closing out the day. Yeeeeee MFN haw.
