Don't hold your breath on the addition of another main stage headliner, guys. Voodoo is known to let soft headliners close out the fest on sunday when they blow a healthy load on their EDM headliners and the undercard. (Jack White in 2012, The Raconteurs in 2011, and My Morning Jacket in 2010) Arctic Monkey are billed 4th at Lolla this year. And they will close the main stage at Voodoo. And just be glad that it's not RHCP (sorry in advance to their fans on here).
I'm fine with this. Foo Fighters are on my bucket list and I missed them the ONE AND ONLY TIME they've come through little rock. Flux Pavilion was the first artist that really got me in to dub step. And after seeing pretty lights at beale, I WANT TO SEE HIM AGAIN. Those 3 alone are enough for me to buy tickets. Now I just gotta convince my buddy to come with me!

Good point.
And this is fine with me. The lineup as it stands makes me happy.
Its possible they put Skrillex on the main stage, I wouldn't be completely surprised given the size of his "mothership", but I'm thinking we get another headliner announced in August/September.
I agree, I think he is big enough but it would be a big turn off for anyone that wasn't big on EDM if the Carnival stage was the only other option (assuming Le Plur had an EDM band playing at the same time).
Skrillex played Le Plur in 2012 and the area/capacity for Le Plur stage was increased significantly last year. He's not closing the main stage. sch'mon.

My sense is that Calvin Harris is as big...if not bigger...than SkrillSkrill. It would be a huge reach for a big festival to have an EDM artist headline without a bigger act playing at the same time.
Lolla had Avicii close in 2012 but they had Black Keys on the other MainStage. Voodoo doesn't have a 2nd MainStage leaving attendees only one option (assuming LePlur is all EDM again) when Skrillex is playing. I dig his music but it would be HUGE turnoff to the older crowd.
Bassnectar played Le Plur at the same time as The Cure on the main stage and Dr. John on Flambeau last year. And I heard the soundbleed ruined Dr. John's set. I was 10 ft away from The Cure on main and I could hear the assneectar in between songs. Hopefully they will fix that issue this year though.

I caught a piece of all 3 sets and thought they were all pretty great. I had seen Cure at ACL and was surprised they were that good live. I thought Bassnectar was badass particularly compared to the Hangout 2013 set which was weak and which I left for Slightly Stoopid. The parts of Dr John I saw were great. Funny thing was, I had How to Destroy Angels slotted in to close my Voodoo before they pulled out.
Didn't Arctic Monkeys draw one of the biggest crowds of the weekend at Bonnaroo? I heard they drew more than Kanye, but can't find the article I read that in again. I wouldn't be surprised if they were the headline act one night.
Does this festival sell day tickets later on? Just curious....
They have the last few years for about 90ish I think, but it's only like 100-110 for all 3 days when the presale hits. Super worth the early investment. They upgraded food options last year to more of what nola eats today. You could get bahn mis, and there was one particular sandwich from Ninja Japanese Rest called Yakiniku which was this badass garlic tossed ribeye with pickled veggies similar to a bahn mi but completely Japanese. Dragos had raw and charbroiled oysters and lots of other stuff. It's not anywhere near jazzfest food level, but based on last year, it's better than most other regional fests. Fwiw I thought Hangout stepped it up this year with the Alabama Gulf Seafood area. We ate oysters from Wentzels, meat pies from acme and shrimp and grits from the 3rd place. Nothing wrong with upgrading food options!
Where exactly is the festival located ? I'm looking at hotels but can find where voodoo is located at. Trying to book a place thats within reasonable distance of the fest.
You're just too young to grasp how stylin' I really was. All the boys wanted to do me when I was 5. Actually the girls did too. My haircut was confusing.

I believe it will be in City Park, New Orleans, Louisiana.

Yeah. City Park is at the head of North Carrollton where it becomes Wisner and runs into City Park Ave and also sort of where Esplanade Ave comes into City Park from the Southeast. If you can find the New Orleans Museum of Art in City Park, it's roughly behind that. There aren't any hotels in that area but it's only a 10-15 minute bike ride from the French quarter or CBD. That part of the park is roughly right in the center of Nola/Metairie.

Can't make it this year but have been a few times in the past. Love this festival. The lineup is never nearly as good as others, but it has everything else going for it.
Two suggestions:
Stay on Frenchmen or in the Central Business District (CBD) and take the trolley all the way to City Park. It's a couple bucks and like 15 minutes.
Suggest 2: GET VIP. Seriously, it's only $350 right now. Jump on that and you won't be disappointed. We went to Pearl Jam 2 minutes before it started and were 8 rows from the stage. They have front row access for all VIPs- it makes all the difference in the world.
Disappointed that we can't make it (doing One Big Holiday instead), but I definitely recommend Voodoo. It's f'n New Orleans.
There is no way Skrilldawg closes out the main stage. That would be such a waste. The only way this would be acceptable to me is if Shpongle Live Band opposed on the Plur Stage. Also, LOL, I just noticed Fuel was on the lineup.
There's like 75 acts on the list, and it looked like there were around 78 last year. I hope they expand to around 125 like they used to do. It does say "many more tba."
Would love to see Neutral Milk Hotel, Judas Priest, King Diamond and Antemasque added more than anything else. At the very least I hope Judas Priest/King Diamond comes to NOLA outside of Voodoo.
Foo Fighters Outkast Slayer Melvins Death From Above 1979 Gogol Bordello ( I hope they get a Halloween sunset show again like in '09.... circle pit of stilt people was pretty epcot) Pretty Lights (if it's the live band) Red Baraat Big Freedia Trombone Shorty Bonerama London Souls Peelander-Z (always a good time killer early in the day) Quintron Twenty One Pilots Naughty Professor MarchFourth Marching Band would be sick. Would LOVE to see them have some kinda battle/interaction with the Noisician Coalition.
Just from looking at pics of the bands on the fest site I need to scope out:
Bo Ningen Dirty Bourbon River Show Desert Noises The Tontons World/Inferno Friendship Society
Way 2many DJs at this fest. It was so much better when it was 6 stages. They need to bring the WWOZ stage back.

I'm leaning heavily towards doing this trip. It's just so affordable. $100 for four nights at a hostel that's only ~30-40 minutes away on public transportation, $130 for tickets, and only $140 for round trip flights. $230 bucks in leisure money puts it at $600, which is still $150 less than a paycheck for me.
It's happening. Just bought credentials for myself and my husband. I love Halloween and we wont have the kids that weekend plus Outkast AND The Foo Fighters? Had to do it. See y'all in NOLA!
If Voodoo adds another headliner like they did last year, I'd put money on Death Cab for Cutie. They play FFF in Austin the week after and haven't "formally" announced a fall tour.

If you want to be able to get close to the headliners without having to wait in a crowd of people for hours, do VIP. Or get close to any act on the main stage by just walking up while they are just starting...yeah. If you want backstage access, watch the shows from side of stage decks, and are a baller...get Rites of Passage. Sound isn't is good there from what I hear.
