I'd be fine with Arcade Fire as a headliner at MIA, but I saw them live in Philly in 07 and it was easily one of the most disappointing shows I've ever been to before. I don't really think they make a great festival headliner type band but I'd love nothing more to be wrong about that.
Other hip-hop acts that may be at MIA this year include Run the Jewels, Deltron 3030, and Schoolboy Q. I'd love it if RTJ were there - their album last year was my favorite of 2013.

Any new rumors about this years lineup? Since I couldn't do Roo this year I was gonna settle on Firefly, but really the lineup isn't good enough for their absurd price tag. With service fees and the ridiculous cost of a camp site Firefly comes to over $400.
My guess for MIA would be Outkast with Nas doing Illmatic as a sub, and Foo Fighters or Coldplay with Arctic Monkeys being their sub. Also guessing Skrillex will be their big EDM act.
Outkast is playing Electric Picnic in Ireland that weekend, so they can be ruled out unfortunately. My guess is Kanye/Coldplay for headliners. Don't know what to expect wrt undercards at this point. Hoping for Nas, Chance the Rapper, Run the Jewels, Frank Ocean. Beck and Arctic Monkeys would be nice, though I'm not really anticipating either for whatever reason. I could give less of a shit about EDM, Skrillex will most likely be there I'd guess.
We should get the lineup someday this week, maybe Thursday.

I saw Arcade Fire on the farm in 2011 and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen.

Isn't the point of the festival to showcase American artists only? If so, Coldplay and Arctic Monkeys are out.
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

They try to go heavy on American artists, but its not exclusive. Last year they had Phoenix (french), Deadmau5 (canadian), Empire of the Sun (Australian), to name a few.

Thanks for the clarification. The name is kind of deceiving.
I rescind my Coldplay prediction as headliner and replace them with Jack White. Seeing as he announced tour dates today with a lack of a Philly date, he'd be quite logical for Made In America.
Also, Chance the Rapper was announced earlier today for the Mad Decent Block Party on August 8th in Philly, so I guess he can be counted out for MIA.

I highly doubt that Jack White would headline. Chance could still be in play. MIA usually follows a system of 4-5 decent sized rap acts, 4 decently known indie rock acts, 3 rock rock acts, various EDM stuff, and then 4-6 pop acts with random smaller bands thrown in. I expect something like:
Rap:
Kanye West (headliner with Jay Z as a guest) Chance the Rapper Hopsin Schoolboy Q (guest appearance from Kendrick Lamar) Childish Gambino French Montana Tyga Chris Webby
Pop:
Aloe Blacc Pharrell John Legend OneRepublic Shakira Sara Bareilles
Indie:
Bastille Arctic Monkeys STRFKR Dr Dog Modest Mouse Stephen Malkmus Sea Wolf
Rock:
Foo Fighters (headliner with Eddie Vedder as a guest) The Black Keys Kings of Leon Third Eye Blind (touring again) The Strokes
EDM/Alt Electronic Rock:
Passion Pit Various EDM stuff I don't know
The schedule would look something like...
Saturday: Sea Wolf (12pm), Chris Webby (12:30) ... (random artists until 3pm) Sara Bareilles (3:15), Tyga (3:45), The Strokes (4:00), Stephen Malkmus (4:15), Shakira (4:45), Kings of Leon (5:15), Childish Gambino (5:45), John Legend (6:15), STRFKR (7:00), Schoolboy Q (7:45), Passion Pit (8:30), Foo Fighters (9:30-11:30)
Sunday: (random artists 3pm) Third Eye Blind (3:00), French Montana (3:15), OneRepublic (3:45), Modest Mouse (4:15), Hopsin (4:45), Arctic Monkeys (5:30), The Black Keys (6:00), Pharrell (6:45), Chance the Rapper (7:30), Bastille (8:15), Aloe Blacc (9:15), Kanye West (10:15-12:15am)
EDM would be in the tent randomly playing. I think that would be a realistic and sweet show.

LOL you're joking with that schedule right? You think The Strokes, Kings of Leon and the Black Keys would all play, and not be headliners? The strokes at 4pm lol if only.
If I were a betting man I would say the lineup would look something like: Kanye West, Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys, Pharrell, Skrillex, Nas doing Illmatic, Childish Gambino, Modest Mouse, J Cole, Banks, Bastille, Sam Smith, Schoolboy Q, Chvrches
Kanye + Nas doing Illmatic would be worth the price of admission alone IMO
April 8th, 2013 was the day MIA put a video up hyping the lineup announcement for 2 days later, on April 10th. Still no word from MIA on twitter...wonder what the hold up is? Surely they've got to be announcing something this week
was hoping for OutKast this year but they are out obviously wiht being overseas. id be cool with Kanye/Foo (or Muse). ill be at the hangout in may so i hope MIA has some of the bands that i am going to have to miss when i am there. worked out good last year having Maclemore at MIA so i didnt mind passing on him at HO so i could see Passion Pit. Getting Chance and Gambino would be huge for me so i dont have to worry about missing em in May.
promoters are starting to drop the ball here...i guess the lineup announcement will be later this year than it was last year? makes little sense but w/e. hopefully the lineup is worth the wait
Article made it seem like they were going to do both, my guess is they want to announce both at the same time (which makes sense), but LA is holding them up.

Yeah I get the impression they want to do it like Sasquatch did, and release both lineups at the same time. Although I don't know how long they're gonna keep up with that plan since it sounds like they've hit some serious road blocks with the LA edition.
I was worried at first too that there would be no Philly weekend, but I think I remember them signing a 5 year deal right after the first one ended. So I think it'll be there for at least a couple more years

Anyone know when the presale starts? I got the code but the lines arnt open yet it seems.
For the record im not to hype about the West Coast MIA. I feel it can really pull acts away from Philly that would typically be free to play the East Coast counterpart. It will be like whoever wants to play on the West Coast where most stars live anyway vs. whos touring the east coast that we can get to stop by Philly.
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
The Presale code is good until 10pm tonight. "BMIA2014" I'd highly recommend buying as its only $115 or so after fee's for both days. Regular onsale usually starts around $150 and increases and single days will be $90-100 each. You can also sell single days.
From the app it appears Citi presale April 16th. Facebook presale May 7, Livenation May 8, and regular onsale May 9. I'd guess we see the lineup in a week or two.
