Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I was surprised to see this turn out the way it did. I knew half of these guests but I didn't know the others so I was a bit disappointed. But after a little bit of research, I'm hoping a vast majority of roo goers don't do the same so I can have a perfect spot for this. And then leading to Chance is gonna be mind blowing.
Music Midtown: 2011 Bonnaroo: 2012 - 2016 Forecastle: 2013 Rock al Parque: 2014 420 Fest: 2014-2018 Shaky Knees: 2015 - 2019, 2021 Seen tons of local shows since 2004.
Didn't see this anywhere, but it might be since they tweeted it last night. Anyway, the AMA with AC was pretty good, I expect this one to be as well. Apologizes if this is a duplicate thread.
Ask Bonnaroo #SuperJam producer @paulnpeck your questions on @reddit and he'll answer them tonight at 7:30PM EST bit.ly/1kOslAx

That's heartening. Even after doing research, I can't say that the personnel blew me away (disliking the band leader's music doesn't help,) but the theme sounds like a lot of fun, and of course, the possibility of JPJ is tantalizing.
What led people to believe that there was an unnamed bassist, though? I thought that the announcement named a bassist.
(1) Damon Albarn (2) Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds (3) King Khan & His Shrines (4) Ty Segall (5) Ms Lauryn Hill (6) Darkside (7) Kanye (8) Janelle Monae (9) Goat (10) Meshuggah.
Oh man, Bonnaroo really delivered. I can make rail for this easy skipping Kanye.
I'm thinking the same thing. This super jam might end up being the best show of the weekend so it's a no brainer for me. My wife and I have little to no interest in Kanye so we should be up close like last year.

AMA hinted at 70s rock/funk being the backbone of the SJ and said the unnamed bassist would be someone "siiiick." I'm taking that hint as JPJ, right?
YES YES YES
I also woke up at 3am thinking the "?" may have a second layer since it's 70s. The Who will most likely be played that night. I'm sure that wasn't the original part of the "?" but that's where my mind went.

Derek Trucks - Guitar Chaka Chan - Vocals Taj Mahal - Guitar, Vocals, other instruments not including bass Eric Kasno - Guitar James Dadson - Drums David Hidalgo - Guitar, Vocals, other instruments not including bass Adam Deitch - Drums Andrew Bird - Violin, Vocals, Guitar Susan Tedeschi - Vocals, Guitar Ben Folds - Piano, Vocals
Waking up to an answer that there may, in fact, someday be a Questlove led MJ-themed superjam made me very happy.
Also, the bassist has to be JPJ. Unless is Les Claypool, but I doubt that one.
claypool is out west during bonnaroo.
I have no doubts JPJ will at least be there for at least a couple songs. In '07 he played in the Superjam, at Ben Harper's set, the Wood Brothers, and Gov't Mule. well, those are all I can personally confirm. Who knows where he else was whorin' around.

Agreed JPJ is far and away the most logical bassist.
Next most logical is O'Teil. Not on the farm, but also no current tour dates.
Incredibly not likely but would be most awesome is Phil Lesh. Would be perfect since Mickey Hart is already sitting in with Kanye for All Of The Lights, so Lesh could join him.

just can't ignore Paul's " “someone siiiiick” comment about the bassist.
The only thing I'm thinking is that since they've already announced JPJ for Seasick Steve, why would they NOT announced him for the SJ? It's so glaringly obvious that it doesn't really make sense to me to keep it a secret.

They always like to have surprises, even if they're already playing with something like that. Announcing the entire jam would be no fun. If I were coordinating it, I would have announced JPJ and kept Ben Folds a secret

Probably so in a week or two they can have another announcement, and all the blogging/news sites will repost the information about the superjam, but this time with JPJ added. Keeps people talking, keeps Bonnaroo news at the top of all the music sites. Good marketing really.
It would be sick if they could get murph formally from sts9 to slap deh bass
I was thinking that as well back before the official announcement, when we were all speculating that Umph may be involved with this Superjam. Don't know if he fits as well with the current lineup, but I'd be for it, (if we don't get JPJ). He is gonna be on the farm right? Doesn't he play with Cherub?

This adds a little hope for additional surprises, from the AMA last night

"I think we've done a good job of giving some info while still trying to drop in some huge surprises ie Brittany Howard last year. I was about to drop all the secrets for this year but now I'm thinking twice!"

You all do know that while Eric Krasno is a great guitarist and is so with Lettuce and Soulive and several other bands, as recent as last summer he was playing bass in either Tedeschi/Trucks or Pretty Lights. I am having a brain fart but he is an established bass player as well.
