^ It would appear, from my recollection of the dialogue in that episode, that Cohle dispatched Ginger - and I agree that's a pretty big loose end. There are two hours left, so maybe that will come up again.
I have two problems with an otherwise wonderful ahow.
one what happened to Ginger? this is too big of a detail to brush under the rug.did cohle's murder ginger in cold blood?
two why did I the shooting board buy their story? it seems like a lot of physical evidence to fake. prints on the gun are easy enough, but wouldn't a gun residue on ledoux's hands and cohle's go that matter from firing the AK? the casings were well away from where ledoux was shot also.
My guess is he cut Ginger loose. He said "and what would I want with you". Ginger was a low level man in the gang. If he was arrested it wouldnt be a big deal ok so hes in jail. If he was let loose after helping Chole, he could have just returned to his Biker Gang like nothing happened. I doubt he would want to put his reputation on the line letting the gang know who "Crash" really is because he brought an Undercover into the midst of their gang not once but twice. He probably just said the stash house robbery went wrong, the others all died and he barely made it out alive.
Her drawings are very specific and very graphic: explicit sex scenes. And, she also draws the "spaghetti faced monster." The last drawing is of a large man with quite a similar face to the profile drawing seen in the beginning after a girl was chased through the woods.
Preview for next episode also shows the return of the spaghetti-faced monster drawing, and Rust says that it ends with him. Marty is shown something on a video that makes him react very strongly. I am thinking this is when he sees his daughter is involved somehow:

They have definitely been building to some sort of tragic, climactic event involving Marty's daughter. I wasn't sure if it would intersect with the investigation or not

Agreed-she (Audrey, I believe?) has become exactly what her grandfather was lamenting in the second episode - kids these days wearing all black and makeup...seems to further tie him into the whole ordeal IYAM (just made that acronym up-not sure if it already exists).

I can imagine you are a hundred percent right on this one, good call!
Yeah I'm kinda backing away from the supernatural thing, but I've had some strong convictions for the church, task force and Marty circle for a hot minute. Until convinced otherwise, I won't back off Marty. There's gotta be a reason for it being called True Detective, not True Detectives.
Are they changing the title in future seasons, when they have entirely new casts and plot lines?
I was thinking maybe it was called True Detective maybe cause it was winking at the audience, sort of breaking the fourth wall. Are we the true detective?

After catching up I'm leaning towards Marty and Cole and Marty's ex all being in on it together. I think that a group of people, Tuttle among them, were responsible for some pretty sick stuff with little kids, likely at the schools. Somehow Marty's children were involved, Cole finds out and ends up killing all of the bad guys, maybe there's still a nut job out there somewhere, I don't think Tuttle was an accident, maybe he was the last. I got the feeling in the last episode that even though Marty and his ex may have been angry with Cole in some capacity there was no way they wouldn't protect him. I think everyone's hero may be a vigilante. I'm usually not in any hurry to rush time along but I'm really excited for this week.
I also totally agree with Dave Maynar, it was almost like she was reeling Marty in, it seemed very intentional. Planned.

This week, I have been thinking most about Marty's car in the present day. For a guy who we've been told again and again isn't the best detective, he sure seems to be doing well for himself.
Was that not the same guy who was mowing at the school? How come they didn't notice his scars then? Was he wearing a bandanna over his face? I can't remember.

He had a beard back then, and the camera angle was on his err...good side? But they really panned to show it off this time and sans beard.
I think part of that is you guys have spent so much time developing this scenarios that are far more intricate than what the show will use. We all did it with Breaking Bad, specifically with the Czech buyers.
