I got my ticket pretty much the instant I saw Slowdive on the bill. Pretty stoked for the second wave of announcements which is always substantial. I've seen all three headliners and am a big fan of them all and I'd say NMH put on the best show although Kendrick will turn the F up.
Last year I was disappointed by how much crossover there was between this fest and roo. With the second wave we'll see how much there is this year - looks like less.

Well, its been almost a month since the initial post. You'd think by now they would add a few more acts.
Also, they moved Wild Beasts to the Saturday lineup. So all they got for Sunday is Kendrick, Grimes, and Slowdive. They are really going to have to do a lot of work to make that day worth going too.
while the official schedule won't be confirmed until june, they are usually pretty predictable based on billing order. there will be some changes still to a few smaller acts possibly moving to another day, as friday has 1 more artist than last year, saturday has 1 fewer artist and sunday has 2 fewer artists compared to last year.
here are my initial guess for the schedule (it will be pretty close to this, some later blue stage bands may move to early in the day on green/red)
FRIDAY Main Stages - Hundred Waters (RED) > Sharon Van Etten (GREEN) > Death Grips (RED) > Sun Kil Moon (GREEN) > Avey Tare (RED) > Beck (GREEN) Blue - SZA > Isaiah Rashad > Haxan Cloak > Factory Floor > Giorigo Moroder
SATURDAY Main Stages - Twin Peaks (GREEN) > Empress Of (RED) > Wild Beasts (GREEN) > Cloud Nothings (RED) > Pusha T (GREEN) > tune-yards (RED) > Danny Brown (GREEN) > St. Vincent (RED) > Neutral Milk Hotel (GREEN) Blue - Ka > Circulatory System > Mas Ysa > The Julie Ruin > The Range > Kelela > FKA Twins > The Field
SUNDAY Main Stages - Mutual Benefit (GREEN) > DIIV (RED) > Deafheaven (GREEN) > Earl Sweatshirt (RED) > Schoolboy Q (GREEN) > Real Estate (RED) > Showdive (GREEN) > Grimes (RED) > Kendrick Lamar (GREEN) Blue - Speedy Ortiz > Perfect Pussy > Majical Cloudz > Dum Dum Girls > Jon Hopkins > DJ Rashad & DJ Spinn > Hudson Mohawk
Damn, those adds makes me wish I had done Pitchfork over Forecastle... Oh well. I'm seeing Outkast & Beck & Sun Kil Moon still + Gary Clark Jr. so I'm still pretty happy. Although, Chicago would mean a free place to stay, since my cousin lives there, oh well. Still happy with my decision. Outkast.
Haha. I love this lineup more so than the Forecastle. The glaring omissions for me are Slint (played last reunion) and The Replacements (played Riot Fest). These are simply fantastic adds.
E: Omissions. My chicken was burning.

I'm still considering Forecastle. I'm not thrilled with these adds. I'm going to spend some time comparing the overall lineups. I just like to give you a hard time.

If you don't like this lineup and Lolla's top stuff isn't doing it for you, hook it up. I'm dead serious when I say one of the Forcastle after-shows is me playing air-guitar and singing Spiderland in its entirety. I'll totally let you sit in on drums.

Does anyone know what the VIP experience entails for Pitchfork (specific perks, for example)? I should preface this by saying I'm not the VIP type -- I've always done Bonnaroo as GA. But this year, I might have an opportunity to do Pitchfork VIP, and I'm debating between it and Forecastle.

I was looking for VIP tickets last year and could never find them. I'm not fully sure they offer them. I'm probably wrong on this though.
Twin Peaks was the only band I didn't know with the additions. After checking them out last night .. whoa. That shiz is fun. Super garage-y. Reminds me a lot of The Fresh & Onlys.

I dont think they sell a VIP pass. I've never seen one and I dont see anything concrete if I google it either.

I had a VIP pass 2 or 3 years ago (the year with Fleet Foxes, TV on the Radio, etc.) and it's really, really nice. There's the side stage viewing/standing area on the Red and Green stages (as long as you get there 30-45 minutes before the headliner starts you can get a spot and throughout the day it's easy to get a spot) and there is a viewing/standing stage area to the left of the sound board for the Blue stage (it's about 3 ft off the ground so you have much better views).
Outside of the viewing areas, they have free water and beer all weekend long (Goose Island even had a special beer tent in VIP last year), food is also available, but you have to pay for it (no lines though) and there are a bunch of private portos in VIP so you won't have to wait in line for the bathroom (not that the lines are ever that long at Pitchfork).
What line-up do you like more and what's your travel to each festival like? The VIP experience at Pitchfork makes it way more laid back and relaxing of a weekend, but if you like the Forecastle line-up more I'd still go to that.

How did you get those VIP's, hcmg? Were they ever offered to the public or just "in-the-know" sort of thing?

I used to work in the entertainment industry so my old co-worker had connections at Ticket Web or whatever the ticketing company was back then. I'm pretty sure they're never offered for sale by Pitchfork, but some people do sell them on re-sale websites for $$$$.
