I wasn't watching then either, but to my understanding they choose the title. What I'm concerned with is the Raw storyline. It looks like Styles and Cena will work together at the next two PPV's, so does that mean Cena wins at the Rumble? They could easily insert Undertaker in the title hunt if that's really the direction they're headed for Mania. But if they allow someone like Strowman to win and take on Reigns at Mania...no words. I'm not even sold on the idea of someone like Zayne winning the Rumble (though I guess that would bring his rivalry with KO to the big stage). It just seems like Raw hasn't solidified their plans yet while Smackdown (who I've thought was the better show all year) just keeps on trucking.
Yeah it definitely seems like Cena/Taker is a lock for Mania. Man I hope that Strowman/Reigns thing turns out to just be a horrible rumor. Hoping Balor is back in time and they can just do him vs KO at Mania for the Raw side. Also really hoping they do that New Day vs The Club vs The Shield match they teased.. Although it does seem like Rollins/HHH is set in stone already.
I don't know if Balor will be back but I'm excited for the Finn vs Styles fued to begin. If AJ goes to Raw as rumored then I'm sure it's only a matter of time. Their history with the bullet club should make it a nobrainer. It looks like Ambrose will be IC champ soon and like you said Rollins and HHH are a go so the shield reunion is just a tease for now. Hopefully Braun and Roman are a midcard for the US champ. It's just weird to exclude Styles from the main event when he is clearly the most over guy in the company today.
This is my guess for Mania thus far:
Undertaker vs Cena for WWE Champ Goldberg vs Brock HHH vs Seth Rollins Roman vs Braun (hopefully US and not Universal) Charlotte vs Bailey Kevin Owens vs Jericho Randy Orton vs Bray Wyatt Shaq vs Big Show Club vs Sheamus and Cesaro IC ladder match for Ambrose and leftovers? Random matches for smackdown tag &a women's title Andre the Giant Battle Royal
So then we're left needing matches for Styles, Joe, etc
I have Rumble and Mania lined up already. We also have Takeover tickets for those weekends. First rumble - really living out a boyhood dream next year.
The Rumble is still a bucket list thing for me. I've been to 2 Manias (2014 in NOLA and 2016 in Dallas). Now to get to a rumble!

I splurged and got front row tickets to the 2008 rumble at the garden. It was incredible, and its so fun to turn on the network and see myself right there on camera the whole show.
Only went to Mania XX also at the garden when Benoit won. It was fun, but I was a kid. I have done the NXT the night before summerslam the last two years. I feel like I should actually do summerslam this coming year before their deal runs up in Brooklyn.
How was the Mania in New Orleans? I am hoping they do another one there. Everyone I know who goes every year says that one was the most fun. Both because of what happened and because the arena was so close to everything.

By the way apparently Meltzer is saying Kurt Angle isnt taking indie bookings after April and telling promoters hes going back to WWE. Man I hope thats true.

Mania in New Orleans was amazing. The best part was that the whole weekend Bourbon Street was just nothing but wrestling fans, one big community who understood all of the costumes, chants, etc. I wore an El Generico mask all night on bourbon. neither my wife nor the other 2 people with us knew who he was, so they were mystified at how many people just changed Ole at me all night.
Also, wrestlers were just walking down the street so I got to meet Nigel, Bret Hart, Daniels and Kazarian, Truth Martini, Jimmy Jacobs, etc. Sheamus, Finlay, and Drew McIntyre were throwing beads from a balcony.
Also, I've never cried at a sporting event, but I got Teary when we first walked to our seats and I realized I was finally at a Wrestlemania. And the feeling of changing "Yes" with 80k after Bryan won the title was in the top 5 coolest moments of my life, right behind Paul McCartney at Roo probably.
Been in new apartment with new DVR for three weeks now, realized I'm keeping up with SmackDown 100% and I'm 50-50 at best with Raw. Even if I still insist it be referred to as "the Kevin Owens Show" in these new living quarters.

A friend turned me onto Bruce Prichards podcast. Its pretty great. Every week they choose a topic and he goes in depth on what actually happened behind the scenes. If you grew up watching youll love it.
^I can see why so many people don't like him and his opinions, but his podcast provides some excellent insight you can't find many other places.
Also, thoughts with the big Snuka family in Jimmy's passing... he was for certain one of the most influential guys of the late 70s and early 80s.
I don't want to watch the entire UK tournament, but can anyone recommend the matches to actually check from the specials?
He definitely continues to toe the company line. But I like that his cohost consistently calls him out on it. Best wrestling related podcast out right now.
Only watched a little of the U.K. Tourney. Definitely check out Pete Dunne (I think that's his name) dude was nuts.
Already watched that like 2 weeks ago, but yeah... If you haven't seen it, stop what you're doing and check it out. Absolutely one of the best matches of the last 10 years or so, can't really say it's the best ever though.
I count eighteen announced for the Rumble. Nine from Raw, seven from SmackDown, and a couple I'd call free agents. I guess that makes twelve open spots, minus however many declare the next couple nights?
Free Agents Undertaker Goldberg
Raw Seth Rollins Chris Jericho Brock Lesnar Braun Strowman Big E Kofi Kingston Xavier Woods Cesaro Sheamus
SmackDown Dean Ambrose The Miz Dolph Ziggler Bray Wyatt Randy Orton Luke Harper Baron Corbin
I hate that I can speculate more than another dozen, and feel comfortable with my logic.
I was there last night and Saturday. I also saw Joe's final match? In Dallas Friday night. I thought the Rumble was great, but I literally came unglued when that last spot was wasted on Roman.

Stayed up til 5am to watch the main event of New Beginning Sapporo Saturday Night. Man Suzuki is fucking frightening and one of the best pure heel I have ever seen. And Okada produces nothing but 4.75 star matches. Okada is so consistent that even when its a 5 star match I still under-appreciate him. Arguably the best wrestler in the world, and undoubtedly the best big match wrestler in the world.
The boy has karate class three times a week. I was waiting outside as class ended. A girl his age came out and got in the van in front of me. The boy was close behind her.
Kid gave her the good old-fashioned SUCK IT hand gesture in her direction and got in my car. Context: he's in 5th grade and has yet to have the "human growth & development" curriculum.
He got in the car and I asked him what all that was about. He said it was because she got her next belt and he didn't.
I mean, what would you say in such a situation?
My answer was a bit lacking. Involved a general "it's not nice" and a misdirection towards involving the beans but not the frank, because again that talk has yet to occur.
Fastlane is in Milwaukee this weekend and I can't go. The good news is that this would bother me a lot more if they weren't likely to take the strap off my boy KO and put it on Goldberg. The bad news is, I've been quite enjoying watching Strowman beat the crap out of Roman lately. So it's a tossup.
Went to NXT Columbus last night and got kicked out for taking a short video of Nakamura's entrance. They never once told us we couldn't take videos and people all around use were as well. Basically suck my dick NXT.
That's bullshit. Maybe because those house shows are so small and it would be easier to catch slip ups so they don't take chances. Personally I've filmed moments at Raw and Mania with a DSLR.
Speaking of Mania, we're less than 4 weeks out! We have nxt that weekend too. Anyone ever done Axxess? Seems like it could be a waste of time.

Man, that really sucks, sorry to hear that. Was it a house show or a taping? I have heard they're more strict about taking video at house shows than regular televised events... I was scared to even attempt to take any video at the Smackdown I went to in November, they were all over people in the audience for stuff like that. I did manage to get full video of the night's dark match main event, but I think they gave up by then.

House show which is why I was even more confused. That's weird that they are apparently more strict with that.

Maybe it's because they usually feature matchups from future PPV's?
There weren't too many surprises last night. My question is now will they end Wrestlemania with Brock's music? There's nothing storybook about the most dominant wrestler of all time facing a 50+ year old who hasn't had an actual match in over 10 years. Especially when this is all simply to put Brock over one more time. As if he needs that.
