Anybody watching mania? Great match to start with and very happy with the outcome
I was there. I feel like the last three matches were kind of lackluster, but I’m happy with the result. I think that squash match between Cena/Taker will lead to a retirement match next year.
My favorite match of the weekend was that NXT, NA championship though. Ricochet stole the show!
Meltzer said that was the best multi person ladder match he had ever seen. I need to watch that today. Mania was kind of a let down, honestly... definitely not bad, but nowhere near as good as it should have been.

Interesting. I thought this was the best Mania since 30... The AJ/Nak match kind of disappointed (mostly because expectations were so high). But other than that, I thought it was a really fun show.
The nxt ladder match was something else. Adam cole, velveteen are going to be stars and ricochet already is. Everybody brought it. Biggest disappointment of the night was braun and that freaking kid. Biggest shocker of the night, enjoying Ronda’s match the most. Both championship title matches were a bit underwhelming though. Aj/nak due to overhype and Brock/Roman due to me just being burnt out from 7 hours of wrestling and them just not having great chemistry and people picking up on that. Your biggest match of the night should never have “this is awful” chants

I was suffering from fatigue during those last few matches as well. I did have enough energy to participate in that “this is awful” chant though. I was pushing for “Beach Ball City”, but had no takers.
Brock got a new deal. There’s a rematch scheduled for the Greatest Royal Rumble.
And a cage match at that should be pretty interesting. I’m not really a Roman guy but it’d have been pretty cool seeing him raise that belt while all bloodied up. Have to imagine they just worked all of us last night because we all “knew” Roman was winning and now he’ll just get the strap in Saudi Arabia

I highly recommend buying Joey Janela's Spring Break 2 on fite.tv, Walter vs Pierre Carl Ouellet (Quebecoir Pierre from WCW) is the most amazing match I've seen all year. You can get it for free if you use my code vwgng60. It seriously is the best show all year from top to bottom.

Watched that on Friday. That match was so stiff. His chest looked disgusting after all those chops. Crazy.

His chest was fucking black it was insane. He can move for a big man too.
Going back to Mania, I mean it was shaping up so be one of the best ever between the Rousey match, Charlotte/Asuka (questionable booking aside), and even the opening triple threat. But AJ/Nakamura didn't come anywhere close to their WK match, Bryan's return was mishandled, Cena/Taker was a joke in my opinion, and that main event didn't stand a chance, especially after such a long show. Sometimes I really hate WWE crowds... no matter what Lesnar and Reigns could have done to make this match good or even great, the crowd would have still shit on it and tossed around goddamn beachballs. I understand no one cares, myself included, but at least give the guys a chance.
Can we talk about how ridiculous this card is shaping up to be for Great Royal Rumble?
Looks like it might make up for such a disappointing Mania this year.
Also, I'm 100% going to be at WM35. Time to kick that off the top of the bucketlist
Seems like it is going to be an all hands on deck thing for Great RR. Wonder if the wrestlers will treat it like a big deal, or like a house show and take it easy. The last time they did something like this for that Beast in the East special, I thought it turned out to be a bust.
Not sure why so many people thought Mania was disappointing. I really enjoyed it.
Ditto with me for Mania next year. 15 min ride from where I live. Impossible to pass up. Only question is whether I will hit ROH or NXT the night before.
Even with the lackluster final three matches, I had more fun with this card than last year's - granted there weren't any Hardy-esque surprises. I was still very entertained with the show and it's swerves (even those matches I wasn't really invested in).
To be fair, it was better than 32 and 33... I'd say 31 was better as a whole, though.
That Rousey match was something for the ages, however. Aside from Steph looking tough against Rousey a few times, it was just extremely well put together and got over HUGE.

I think Asuka vs Charlotte stole the show personally. Rousey def exceeded expectations more than anyone would have thought. Lesnar vs Reigns was what it was. At least the ending surprised people. And it was better than the last two years with Reigns vs Hunter and Reigns vs Taker. Also really enjoyed Bryans in ring return. It was a good show.
Asuka/Charlotte was a "better" match for sure, but the most over and most memorable thing on the show was the mixed tag. From Rousey's mannerisms and quickness in the ring to her selling (which was worlds better than I expected) and her facial expressions, she definitely has something special. I just hope she can stay focused and passionate.

Everybody can like whatever flavor of ice cream they want .
Agreed on Rousey. I think the only thing missing with her is promo ability. Once shes in a match, she seems a lot more comfortable. If they play their cards right I can even see her vs Charlotte closing Mania next year. Also cant wait for Shayna Baszler to get called up. I think a collision course between those two is inevitable and could make for some really great matches.

This card is as stacked as WM was.. So maybe they CAN botch it after all
I think most of my disappointment stems from a combination of match results, and performance.
First results: - Naomi randomly winning the Woman's BR - this should have easily been Sasha or Bailey to propel their story further. - Jinder winning the US title while pinning Rusev, who is white hot. That should have been Rusev going over, at the very least not be pinned - Bruan winning the tag titles with a planted kid, only to give them up the next day.
Performance: - 4 way was garbage. Don't think I need to elaborate here - Both tag matches being essentially filler - AJ/Nak being just pretty good - One of the worst main events in recent memory. When the crowd is chanting 'Boring' during the biggest match, on the biggest card of the year? Ya don goofed. 4 WM main events in a row for fucking Roman Reigns. The guy who should have never made it past the mid-card. Most overblown superstar I can think of.
They really had a card that could have put this in the vein of WM 17 or something like that, knock everything out of the park with minimal BS segments. But it totally fell flat.

This was the single most disappointing moment of the weekend imo.

I always figured Sasha and Bailey would eliminate eachother. I was hoping they were going to give the win to someone like Ruby Riot to be honest. It would have given her some momentum and created a new star.
Jinder winning was definitely a disappointment. Guessing it is part of some plan though. I am thinking Jinder and Rollins are going to swap brands next week. I wish theyd use Rusev better with how over he is, but hey at least he is on TV. And he's working Taker! And Taker is going to literally bury him lol.
I thought Braun's tag partner choice was pretty funny. But dropping the belts the next night killed it for me. They could have done some really funny skits with him and that kid. Seems like a missed opportunity. Guessing Braun is heading to Smackdown next week too.
I always thought that 4 way was going to be a filler match. Only reason it was even on Mania and not the kick off was because Orton was involved. Tag matches I also assumed would just be fluff. They have to use certain matches to fill time and give the crowd room to breathe.
AJ/Nak was good but not great. But I am absolutely loving heel Nak so far. It really reinvigorated his character and I am thinking this feud is not over yet. They are going to have some good/great matches to come.
Like I said before. This main event was the worst main event ... Since last year. Roman vs Hunter and Roman vs Taker were way worse closers than this one. And I liked the swerve finish (even though I fully expect Roman to win the belt at Greatest RR).
I don't know. I thought Mania was a lot of fun and enjoyed watching. But I see a lot of people with the opinion that it sucked.

Brand swap predictions:
Bryan to Raw (as soon as they announced him vs AJ last night I figured it was because they wanted to burn through it before they didnt have the chance to do it again. Also plant the seed for a Nak match down the road. Maybe next years WM. In the mean time we can finally get him vs Miz) Ruby Riot/Riot Squad to Raw (I don't think her and Paige are allowed to exist in the same place) Usos to Raw (shake up the tag division) Jinder to Raw Becky Lynch to Raw
Rollins to Smackdown Braun to Smackdown Jeff Hardy to Smackdown Asuka to Smackdown Sasha Banks to Smackdown
Could also see The Bar switching, assuming Sheamus can keep going and doesnt have to retire. Id love to see them work with the Bludgeon Brothers.

Agreed. Especially as the second last (I think it was second last) match. Figured it was going to be a big surprise like Bray, Mysterio (online rumors were saying), or Big Show since he just re-signed.

It was a waste of Braun after the hell of a year he had. He should have had a solid mid-card match, or at least the Andrea the Giant trophy. Just some kind of accolade.
Heel Shinsuka is one of the few silver linings I took out of this.
Heel Shinsuke and Broken Wyatt was awesome. That rumble should have been on the main show. Throw that fatal 4-way on the preshow. As far as Rusev goes, I think WWE knows that will inevitably run its course. I’m honestly surprised it caught on like it did. Rusev is comical, but it’s really not that funny. I think it just caught on because Smackdown can get so damn boring.
