I agree with that, theres people who hate Kanye because he is Kanye. I dont like Kanye as a person, but i think hes a great artist. So i look past him being a douche because i expect him to put on an amazing set.

I expect he will put on a great show for his fans this time. I understand why they booked him even if I don't agree with it.

There you go Justin, now you are starting to see the light
Maybe the easier thing would be to build that playpen you mentioned, at least for a few weeks while new users flood the board in wake of tonights announcement. Or just require new posters to wait a few days before they can post.
Preaching to the choir at this point. The playpen would've kept the Headliner thread tolerable and less cluttered.
Yeah, none of the senior members of this forum cluttered that dumpster fire.

You coming to the Disc Exchange tonight?
Trying to decide if it is worth it. I know there are shirts, but besides that I'm not really sure that it's worth a 30 minute trip to south knoxville. I also know that store is pretty small. I wonder how many people are going.

No matter who bonnaroo throws on the main stage (to headline) the worst thing that can happen is you chill in the back with a brew while watching 70ish-K have fun to someone super talented artist for 2 hours. Or rest up for late night. It's not that bad. Only headliner I missed out on and walked around for was Eminem and I actually really regret it (I am not an Eminem fan, at all).
and on point for this thread, I was (past tense) really pissed at kanye. But his musical output is amazing, he is always entertaining, and I have moved on. Whether I go to Bonnaroo or not, won't be because of him or a personal grudge with any artist. There are about another 119 that I wouldn't have a grudge against. People need to move on with their lives and maybe listen to his music a couple times if they haven't. I just listened to three people in our kitchen at work tell me how much they hate Kanye, but one is country music fan only, another never listened to his music because he is a jerk and the last can't stand Kim Kardashian (sp?). I think those are only slightly worse reasons to hate Kanye than still holding a grudge on behalf of 2008.
And Bonnaroo is not our festival in that it owes us anything and we owe it anything. It's old enough to make its own decisions.
Why is this thread the most calm thread ever? Where did all the kanye hating trolls go? Create a thread specifically for them, and they all scatter like they didn't exist.
Totally off topic, but the same person that told me they don't like Kanye because of Kim, also told me that she can't stand to listen to Rhianna's music because she let's Chris Brown abuse her. Then three other people agreed with her. I have a sudden feeling that I just need to go home.
I don't get all the hate for Kanye while Jack White gets a free pass.. Jack threw a hissy fit a year ago in NYC and ended his show after only 45 min. In my opinion that's way worse than what Kanye did. Also when you look at their personal lives, Jack is way more batshit.
Exactly. Jack is a fucking lunatic, if he was a rapper and ...."looked like a rapper".... people would fucking hate him for it. But, since he's a cowboy hat wearing weirdo, he's just "eccentric."
I just realized Roo 2014: We Booked the Craziest Quacking Headliners We Could Find
i'll never understand why those who don't like him won't just skip his show... i'd consider myself a "passive" fan, i def plan on seeing him. but i don't listen to him on a regular, or even semi regular, basis and i'm not such a huge fan that i can sit here and rank my order of favorites or anything. i'm familiar, not fanatic.
i just don't understand why he's such a hot topic on here. i don't get it. never will.

I feel like most people didn't read to far into my post on my other thread, This is how I truly feel about Kanye playing Bonnaroo...
Don't we all deserve second chances? Imagine if they looked at Animal Collective solely on their 2009 performance, they most likely wouldn't have been booked again, but their show last year was awesome. Kanye actually sounds a lot better than many of these other names that have played more recently and only have one new album out since their last roo show. Kanye has a tons of new albums since 2008 and most people didn't actually see him in 2008 anyways. If you really can't stand him chill back at camp and rock out too some of your own tunes and pregame for late night or go explore centeroo at a perfect time cause its not too busy.

Yeah. The thing I always hated about Sam Cooke was that he let someone shoot him in the heart with a pistol. Just embarrassing.

Your backpedaling is truly impressive.
Animal Collective in 2009 was fine, Bonnaroo just pulled a Bonnaroo and made them play in the middle of the afternoon in the blazing hot sun.

Animal Collective in 2009 was apparently because they had a wedding to attend the next day, so they couldn't play late night. Everyone has their opinions, IMO that show was very weak compared to their other shows day time or not.

The people that love him are just as fervent as the people that hate him. It causes problems.
I agree with your thought "I'll never understand why those who don't like him won't just skip his show" as I will be doing if I can help it.

I disagree with this insinuation. The people that are pro-Kanye (with some exceptions, like RJ) are usually accepting of people who don't like Kanye's music, as long as the reason is related to his music. "He's a dick" is hypocritical (I'm saying that with the assumption that if we lined up every act a person likes, we'll find another dickhead or asshole in the mix), "he ruined Bonnaroo" or anything related to that '08 show is usually woefully biased.
If you say "Kanye West sucks!" without reason or context, you will get it from people.
The issue isn't disliking Kanye, it's not giving fair criticisms and reasons why you dislike his music.
