I'm not a skrillex fan at all. However, as an EDM fan I will be checking out the superjam. If the superjam is Saturday, then Kaskade will more than likely not make an appearance since he's HL spring awakening on Sunday. I'm interested to see who his "friends" are, like other said, probably rappers and a few randoms I'm sure.
Mostly in here to find out honest opinions on the new skrillex album. I see a lot of "I like the NEW sound" comments. How different are we talking? I think that skrillex is a little too "scratchy" and "wub wubby" for my taste. Is there less of that? Pick a song to convince me... I'm willing to give him a second chance.

Peronsally I wouldn't say the sounds are totally new to Skrillex, I'd say the first two tracks "All Is Fair In Love and Brostep" and "Recess" have more of his old sound. A little more refined, but I love the start with those two. Also really dig his mix of "Ease My Mind"
If you're looking for some of the "newer" sounds I would go towards "Stranger", "Coast Is Clear", "Dirty Vibe" (maybe), or "Doompy Poomp", which I find to be quite the weird track title and an equally weird song.

His new album is interesting. Not bad, and not insanely different either. It's more like Skrillex is broadening his sound. Different textures and tempos are the most notable change to me. On first listen, I enjoyed it and think it could allow his live show to flow a little better.

The first two songs are old skrillex and really made me go "here we go again", but after that things start to take form. Its not good enough to get me to the solo show because I know he'll play old stuff, but ill be at the superjam.

Yeah, I'm in a similar boat. I would gladly go and see Skrillex and have a good time. But, the late nights are likely to be pretty heavy in conflicts this year and Skrillex will be around for a while. Better to see rarer, more intimate shows imo. That said, the superjam has a higher priority for me this year than the Skrillex solo show. Hope the schedule turns out okay.

I love the new album, and I really like Skrillex, but I'm doubting I'll catch his show. I've seen him at nearly every festival ever for the past 4 years. I definitely won't miss anyone else I like for him. If by Anne miracle there are no conflicts I'd love to catch his set though
after watching (via live stream) the coachella set for skrillex, i'm now more giddy than a little school girl. i just don't know what to do with my life for the next 57+ days! a few summers back skrill played in little rock at the river market DURING THE DAY and maybe a few hundred people showed up. I missed it and i'm glad bc I want a performance of epic proportions, damnit! and it looks like i just might get it! I love the reggae stuff he had.
I have a few weeks to prepare my awesome dance moves. bc i will be dancing. #dropthebass

So the for the past several months I've been slowly winding down from my Skrillex obsession. In 2011-2012 I think I saw him six times at various festivals, including Bonnaroo, which was the most fun I had seeing him. I listened to various tracks almost daily, easily my favorite stuff to listen to in the car.
But like I said, recently I slowly started to wind down. Saw he was playing Roo and was like "ehhhh I dunno if I'll catch him. so much else going on LN etc." Then "Alls Fair" leaked, and I sat at my computer and gave it a spin. Within about 30 seconds I was literally laughing my ass off and whooping and hollering and gesticulating wildly (I definitely did not look cool). I don't know what it is about Skrillex's music is that I find so hilarious. Its not in a mocking way at all, its just all the effects and insanity and intensity of it makes me laugh, kind of in the same way that really intense death metal makes me laugh. Take Opeth's "Blackwater Park". After that devastating instrumental intro, right before the song "kicks in", he lets out that grunt with the reverb. Its so indescribably badass I can't do anything else except laugh. Its just so perfect.
Similarly, on "Alls Fair", when the music stops and the "many types of animals" vocal sample drops, right before whoosh!! right back into the beat, of course, with the "guess who's back muther----", its the most hilarious and perfect and awesome thing I've heard yet in 2014. How can this not bring me joy?
So anyway Skrillex is a top priority for me. Hard to imagine a set I would want to see more. Disclosure comes to mind, but I'm pretty sure they'll be in a tent LN, and the crowd will be so thick I won't be able to get anywhere close (I rarely camp for sets).

I'd written off seeing skrillex at Roo because there will almost certainly be conflicts and I've seen him more times than I can count. But god I love the new album. And knowing that he'll probably play "The coast is clear" live with chance the rapper- I love that track so damn much I will be so sad to miss that

Happy to see Skrilly got the LN Which we all thought he would. 2012 was a lot of fun and cant wait to do it again. My only complaint (if you can call it that) was how abruptly it ended! I think it was 330a on the dot as scheduled. My question is, if he wants to, can Skrill go to sunrise a la PL last year? Nothing better than walking back to camp with the sunrise coming up, hoping Skrillex gives us that opportunity again!

I was gonna split time between this and Frank ocean, that being my biggest conflict. This just fucked all that up for me. I'm probably going to have to miss Frank. I'm happy and sad.

This is how I am feeling. I viewed seeing Frank as a rare thing. I guess I'll have to split some time between the two, if possible.
