The band is absolutely fantastic, particularly the guitar player. I'm sure they will crush Roo but there's this interesting thing going on with the band.
What I mean by that is the lead singer is a slightly overweight white guy who's effectively doing his best James Brown impression. I'm not shitting on that it any way, Charles Bradley has risen to fame doing a similar thing. It's just got this semi-novelty thing going on that might hurt them.
Regardless, I'll likely be at their set having a blast save for a conflict.
This has been a good find for me too. I've been listening to them constantly for about 2 days or so now. Also becoming a cant miss show for me if the schedule works out. There is so much soul in that mans voice.
I really love this band! I usually never wish for a day time set, but they have been my morning go to band since lineup drop, and I actually wouldn't mind them starting my day at Roo..Regardless of their set time though I won't miss them!
Seems to be a lot of interest in them(and rightfully so!), I think it would be pretty cool if they open what on Friday and a ton of us could head over straight from brunch.

Agreed. I was listening to them yesterday and the whole time I was thinking "oh this will be a nice day set.."
Also, side note: His voice reminds me of Zach deputy a little bit so when I saw those videos above I was taken aback by the way he looked. (I was expecting a man with a beard & guitar)
When researching bands I hadn't heard of for Bonnaroo, I always start at the bottom and work up but my progress has been slow because I can't stop listening to this band.
I sold my tickets for Broken Bells on Saturday and will be going to see them instead. I will come back with a full report.
YES! I'm looking forward to it! I'm loving this band. I'm selfishly hoping that people dont discover them so we can get a less crowded show.

I'm going to be at that show with a couple of friends. Want to meet at the bar for a pre-show drink?

Saw these guys about a month ago. Great show with lots of energy. Paul really gets into it, he has got that southern preacher thing down pat. They closed with that cover of Let Me Roll It if I remember correctly.
Concert Review- St. Paul & The Broken Bones at Lincoln Hall Chicago on 3/1/14.
I'll keep it short and sweet. Holy fuck was this a great show. Get there early and get in front of the microphone. This was too, too good performance for a band that has only been around such a short time. SEE THEM.
These are videos I took. Also chicojuarz is a really cool dude.
Could not agree more. This just became a must see again show. AMAZEBALLS.

My wife and I saw them last weekend in Atlanta and it is one of the best live shows we have ever seen. Seriously. Ever. I fully agree about the guitar player because you dont quite get a sense for it in some of the youtube videos but you can see him feeding off of Paul taking us to church and vice versa. I disagree however about the semi-novelty thing that might hurt them. It shouldnt matter either way but we all know it does. I spoke to people around me who were just there for the $10 cover and never heard of them until the first note played. All of them had this "holy crap, that is coming out of a guy who look like THAT! Thats awesome" response that if anything, probably could help them get heard more, even if for the wrong reason of his look and that sound. The combination of thier talent, and especially his pure emotion and transparency on stage plus the horns and guitar player should be enough to get them noticed but I think his look could help them in the short run, then longevity would be up to them.
Regardless, this has been my new favorite band for a couple months and I hope they get three sets at the farm like a few other up and comers have. Thier main set whenever, the half hour plus at the Sonic Stage and a little something extra at the Solar Stage as well much like Revivalists last year. I can say this for sure, any schedule conflict and I know I will be watching them, not whoever else no matter who it is.

In retrospect, I didn't quite word that correctly about it hurting them. It was really just an observation that there is this interesting thing going on because of this race reversal element. It sounds like you get the point I was trying to make though.
Regardless, the boys can play and that's what matters most.

Forgot to mention that the guitar player used to be in Drivin and Cryin and Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit after Jason and the Truckers broke up prior to this gig. Sadler Vaden is the guys name and the motherfucker can play on top of having a bad ass name.
It may just be me, but I feel like they will be this year's Alabama Shakes. and that's a good thing. Can't believe they were in nashville last week and I missed them.
