Fine with me. I have nothing against the Eagles but I'd rather have Fleetwood and some other headliners that are more relevant, especially if they just played in 2010. Now PJ just played in '09 so I'm splitting hairs here but they're a far more entertaining band for my tastes.
Can't believe this lineup is dropping in a week and a half and there's pretty much nothing as far of leaks or anything. In general, there's like no buzz about this fest at all and just looking at last year, this fest has produced some stacked cards before. Hopefully they keep that trend going. I'm gonna go with this for my top 8 bands:
PEARL JAM | ARCADE FIRE | FLEETWOOD MAC | OUTKAST PRETTY LIGHTS | FOSTER THE PEOPLE | LORDE | FLAMING LIPS
I'm really struggling with what the second line would look like. Last year's 2nd, 3rd, and 4th lines were ridiculously good. Some were headliner worthy bands and that's after The Cure, Depeche Mode, Muse, and KoL. I'm probably underselling the potential this year but idk what to expect. There's gonna be some crossover with Lolla so that's why I threw Outkast, FTP, and Lorde in but there could be another bigger act in there. Last year, out of the top 4 lines of ACL, they shared 6 acts with Lolla- The Cure, Phoenix, Queens, Vamp Weekend, Eric Church (Why was he billed so high?), and The National. Which left a large majority of the acts exclusive to ACL which has me excited. Fingers crossed for a killer card.
man i hope thats not the top of the card. when i went in 2011 Foster, Arcade Fire, and Pretty Lights were all there granted lower on the card except Arcade Fire headlined the whole fest
I mean a lot of fests this year have recycled acts from previous years. It's jus getting to that point now. After 3 years it's like "okay come on back." For the record I'm on the same page as you but that's just a prediction. I'd still love to see PJ, AF, and Fleetwood so despite that 2nd line I'd have a real good time.
yea i hear ya. im in the minority with Foster i think they are being billed way to high this year, they are still a mid card act to me even with a new album coming out. i do hope Outkast plays i wanna get to see em twice and they are out for my local festival.
You're just too young to grasp how stylin' I really was. All the boys wanted to do me when I was 5. Actually the girls did too. My haircut was confusing.
Hmm I like some of what they're saying, and dislike a good amount too.
Most on there are saying no chance for Fleetwood which I get. I like the Killers, but them the same as Outkast, it's the Hangout effect. I would be seeing both on the beach in May and that atmosphere there won't be topped at ACL. I do like the talk of Bruce, Elton, Arcade Fire, or PJ but I'm just trying not to get my hopes up. If the top line has Petty, Killers, Black Keys, and Outkast I will be legit pissed. 3 of them are playing Hangout this year and Petty played last year. Not exactly what I'm hoping for when trying a new festival.

I wouldn't mind if any of those guys headlined this year... it'll make it so much easier leaving Zilker Park a little early so I can get my after show partying on.
Okay so after browsing the Lolla forum, the ACL rumors forum, and the Daily Texan article released yesterday, here's where I'm at I guess...
ARCADE FIRE | JACK WHITE | TOM PETTY & THE HEARTBREAKERS | OUTKAST SKRILLEX | BECK | LORDE | FOSTER THE PEOPLE | THE AVETT BROTHERS | THE REPLACEMENTS MODEST MOUSE | BROKEN BELLS | ZEDD | DAMON ALBARN | JULIAN CASABLANCAS | DISCLOSURE
Honestly, considering the rest of the festival circuit this year, I think this would be a pretty solid lineup. By the time this fest rolls around, I would have seen 3 of the top 4 though, so I'm hoping there's some variety there. The rest of the 2nd/3rd line looks fine and realistic. Really hoping for Pearl Jam or Coldplay to replace Jack White on that list and either Elton or Bruce to replace TP. Nothing against either of them, but I saw both at Hangout Fest in '12 and '13 and that's just too recent for a repeat for me. It'd look good on paper but it would decrease my excitement for sure. I do think there could be one more larger scale act squeezed in there, possibly the Killers/Black Keys or something, which again I'll be seeing earlier this year so that would do nothing for me. At least we'll know in less than a week.
lol understandable. My whole thing is that I haven't seen Coldplay before and I just saw Jack White 2 yrs ago, twice. I like him, but not enough to see him this often at festivals.

I'd see Jack White 100 times before I'd see Coldplay
Coldplay's production factor is why I want to see them more than anything. Average music, great production during their shows. Just something I'd like to see, without shelling out the extra $ to see them separately.

Last years ACL was pretty stacked. Considering that Outkast isn't playing Fun Fun Fun fest, it would make sense that this would be their lone festival date in Austin.
Some potential headliners I see are Foo Fighters- By Oct, a new album or material has to be out right? My guess is that Foo play ACL this year, and then play Lolla next year. I just have a feeling. Arcade Fire- Since they didn't play Lolla, and C3 runs both fests, they have to play some C3 event in the US right? Pencil them in. The Killers- If they played Lolla last year, it would make sense that they'd appear at ACL this year, especially since it's their last run before taking a hiatus. Nine Inch Nails- How they didn't play last year, I'll never know. I think they'll play this year though. Outkast- Will they be a headliner? They've headlined every other fest they've been booked at, so while some may disagree that they should be a headliner, I'm pretty sure they will be.
Aside from Bonnaroo, a lot of fests this year have pulled away from their roots. It's turning into a mainstream feast in the festival circuit, sadly because people 30-50 don't really want to drop dough on a lineup. The kids and young college kids will though if the fest brings the right acts. Look at Coachella, I was like well it's better than last year but it's stil 395 bucks. Look at the EDM over saturation. It's what's trending. Look at a crowd for Chrvches, Lorde, or Foster the People and compare it to a crowd for QOTSA, Bryan Ferry, or even Outkast. If fests want to survive, they have to appeal to the mainstream, and still stick to their roots for the veteran fest goers. That's not easy, but Bonnaroo, Coachella to some extent, and Lolla last year merge it quite well. ACL will be more mainstream than you are used to, but it's because they don't really have a choice. The young people are what sells out these fests. I hope I'm wrong, but did you see Outside Lands? Macklemore and Ryan Lewis on the second line? Really? Times are changing my festival friends.

It seems I have missed a 6th headliner, so I'll say Bruce Springsteen makes the most sense. It would be an exclusive get for ACL this year, and he's one of the more veteran type acts.
Selfish me was actually hoping ACL got Eminem. I feel for everyone else though. I did want to check him out at Lolla but I didn't wanna miss Arctic Monkeys. Now I can catch AM at Lolla and Em at ACL. Fine w/ me though I get why others would be disappointed.
