Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I can attest most of Arkansas is under some serious storm warnings right now.
This week i broke my phone, got two parking tickets and hit my bike into a second story parking garage atop my car. Got to get this shiz out before Roo! It is a good sign
You're just too young to grasp how stylin' I really was. All the boys wanted to do me when I was 5. Actually the girls did too. My haircut was confusing.

Who should we follow on twitter for weather updates while on the farm?
@bonnaroowx
Totally follow them AND set up text alerts for their tweets -- it was very handy last year to get their tweets as texts versus having to wait for Twitter to load while on The Farm. They really know their stuff, it's a group of weather nerds(I'm one so I'll say it) that monitor the Nashville weather and monitor Bonnaroo weather on the side.
If there is anyone from Manchester on here can you give us an update on how much it has rained in the past week. Just wondering bc accuweather has basically predicted a month of straight rain for everyday.

I know it's been on and off all week monitoring the weather but as of right now it looks great. I know yesterday it didn't but if the current expected temperatures hold up, we have a dream on our hands. Highs no higher then 84 and 3 of 4 days minimal chance of rain just partly cloudy (according to the Weather Network in Canada)
I would rather be hot than have a governors ball situation like they had last year. Not liking all the rain that is currently predicted. A light shower here and there is ok. Mud and being soaked is not.

If you really want to know - check out accuweather (website desktop version) and look at the monthly forecast then click each day 11th, 12th, etc - for example forecast on 12th Winds S 5 mph Gusts: 7 mph Times of clouds and sun with a chance of showers and thunderstorms; humid Max UV Index: 9 (Very High) Thunderstorms: 60% Precipitation: 0 in Rain: 0 in Snow: 0 in Ice: 0 in Hours of Precipitation: 0 hrs Hours of Rain: 0 hrs
The key thing is the 0 at hours of precipitation. They are saying there's a chance but we don't expect any rain. Now if you look at that evening forecast
Winds SSW 4 mph Gusts: 6 mph Partly cloudy with a couple of thunderstorms around late Max UV Index: N/A Thunderstorms: 60% Precipitation: 0.11 in Rain: 0.11 in Snow: 0 in Ice: 0 in Hours of Precipitation: 2 hrs Hours of Rain: 2 hrs
So there we see a possible evening shower.
Sorry for the long post. My point is it's Tennessee, be prepared for anything but honestly, whatever the weather it will be amazing!! Since I'm recovering from pneumonia I am sending out positive thoughts for awesome weather!!!
* Hey for you atmospheric-y science folks... So my Dad is coming to Roo this year and would probably be a hoot for you all to talk to. He's a lifer NASA atmospheric scientist that has done some really awesome work over a massive career (he was one of the pioneers of LIDAR if you know what that is, and helped discover the hole in the ozone layer in Antarctica). Anyway, I'm so proud of him, he's a million times smarter than me - just thought you all would really dig hanging out and chatting.
He'll be at InfoRoo Brunch Fri, and he'll be at Dawn of The Dad (noon Sunday Brooers). Or find me (re: pirate hat) and I can point him out.
All those "feels like" temperatures dropped by roughly 5-8 degrees since yesterday. Not gonna post pics cuz it's roughly the same forecast as yesterday, and I ain't got no time for that.

I'll get an update out in a few hours. Not long til the NAM Model outputs will reach out to Thursday & Friday (I prefer NAM over GFS). Gotta put my atmospheric science degree to good use somehow. In service of Bonnaroo!!!

I encourage y'all to play with these animations. Just click Stop and use your arrow keys to toggle. You will need to subtract 6 hours from the time I believe. Looks like there's a much lower chance of precip on Saturday. Thursday & Friday evenings are where we're gonna wanna watch out!
What's really encouraging in the next loop is that the trough moves out pretty quick, and what was a boring zonal wind pattern now looks like a ridge (gasp!) moving in Saturday midday. This would reduce rain chances and increase temperatures as the fest goes on. That last part isn't so encouraging.

They're starting to refer to models more, but it really depends on the know-how of your local TV meteorologist. Fore example some Atlanta TV weather-people have great qualifications and talk about what's actually going on, but some just describe what's on the screen behind them. I've been impressed that they show statistical ensembles of hurricane tracks these days (the stuff that looks like spaghetti).
I guess when it comes down to it I'm not as interested in comparing forecasts, because they will start to get pretty close anyways. I like looking at the raw data and seeing what's really happening up there.
The flip side of the coin, which shows why the TV stations don't show the model outputs, is the group of seniors I had this year who didn't know that clouds were made of water. The physical science knowledge of the population as a whole is pretty bad.
