Paroxysm714 Why don't the TV stations just show this stuff? Way easier to read than a 5 day forecast.
Not going this year : ( but reading because I love weather nerds (paroxysm) and intelligent weather talk!
There used to be an ad for a major Boston TV station. A man is prominently figured and speaks for the whole ad.. it goes .. " the station asked me to be the new weather man. I told them No, I'm the sports news caster! They said it pays 6 figures, and I said it looks like rain today."
It was 90 here in Boston today so I'm feeling well-prepared
Wasn't it just 50 degrees up there like a week ago?
Anyway, Paroxysm714, this is really interesting to me. I live in an area with crazy weather that no one bothers to predict accurately, how would I go about being an (amateur) weather nerd? I'd love to be able to look at the raw data and pull my own conclusions like you're doing but I wouldn't know where to start.

We haven't been in the 50s (at least at work, where I consistently see the weather) in a while, but on Thursday it was a high of 62. So nearly a 30 degree swing in two days

Ah, gotcha. I was watching the Braves play the Red Sox last week and the announcers were talking about how cold and cloudy it was that night, but they could have just been exaggerating since they're used to Atlanta heat this time of year.
90!? Where in Boston do you live?! It was 82 on the harbour & the dog park in the Quincy area...
I work in Belmont, which isn't exactly Boston, but close enough and obscure enough that it's easier just to say Boston
Wow, well the difference in temp is definitely pretty crazy! It was a perfect & beautiful day for me. It would be a dream come true if it were like that at bonnaroo!
pretty strong storms here right now, enough so that they would have shut down all the shows...lots of lightning and thunder....looks like the chance of rain Thursday and Friday has increased...

No, I really think it was only in the low 80s. There isn't any stations in the Boston area reporting higher than 83 today.
I was out and about over here in the MA/RI/CT corner, and it was about 82 83 at the warmest.

Sooooo nice, right? Oddly enough, my weather app (yahoo) is predicting low 80's for Manchester during the fest. Of course it changes drastically every day in terms of what the weather will be, but the low temps have been a mainstay for at least the past four days. *crosses fingers*
I'm bringing mine whether the weather says rain or not. Think of it as a sacrifice to the rain gods.
I packed them anyway. And a rain jacket. I'm not going to check the weather again until I get there and just be surprised.
Rain/mud boots can be useful as a means of prevention, I think. If you don't bring boots it will be a sloppy mudfest, guaranteed, so it should work both ways, right? I'm packin' 'em, and hoping they never leave the car..

Son of a quack! Noooo
I don't know if I'm interpreting that correctly, but if it rains for a couple hours on Thursday and Friday that wouldn't be bad at all. With a 40-50% chance it may not rain at all. We just don't want prolonged, heavy, mud-spawning rain, or strong thunderstorms with a lot of lightning or high winds. It's going to rain sometime, so just hope it is brief. Temp forecasts seem to be creeping up, which is not welcome.

Wait... excuse my deviation from the topic, but you're not going? Dang it, I did not know that. Be assured that your handywork will represent you well, at least.
For those of you who haven't seen grown men (and women) dancing and carousing in incredible tutus, you need to come to brunch. For those of you who have seen this spectacle before, I assume you won't miss it.

That's a whole lot of rain all week long before Roo.. it could move on thru to the weekend. I'm definitely hoping that's not the case.
and yeah, it's rained at some point during every Bonnaroo I've attended. This will be my 6th.. I don't mind the rain, but I looked at it and it's pretty much rain all across the board except Sat & Sun. But yea, fingers crossed we only get brief showers
It absolutely POURED here today. Big storm, lots of lightening & thunder. Hopefully it dries up by time everyone arrives. But just be prepared for Lots of mud.
So much so that I actually went to walmart and bought mudboots for tomorrow since I'll be parking the Gurus out in the fields all day.
I think we need to stop the "quacking". It's like we're all hinting to God that we wanna party like ducks! I'm with Cantalope, let's stop looking at the weather. Just be prepared for whatever.

The "quacking" is the best part of Bonnaroo. Wellies or no wellies. So, let the "quacking" carry on, my quacking friends. Let those who came to quack, quack away.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

In that case, quack it! I'm gonna quack till the fat lady sings( in this case:Elton) lol

Academy Sports in Clarksville, TN has some psychedelic rain boots on sale(womens)19 bucks. Black ones on sale (for both men and women)...19 bucks. Not that it might rain, or anything. Of course, I haven't checked Wal mart's prices yet.

Not sure if you're aware of this or not, but most people aren't typing "quacking", it's simply the word filter in place on these boards ("quack" = f@ck). There's a thread where you can sign up to have the word filter removed if you want. If you knew about it and enjoy the filters, then never mind and carry on!

Looks like you all are in a for a good one. Random rain to keep it fun and muddy and good temps in the 80's to keep ya comfortable. These are the Roos I like.
