2010 almost broke me. I mean really broke me. I think I actually cried at one point...or was at the very least hard core whining. 2011 was better but last year was PERFECT!!! lets get another 2013 weather year
I've only been to Roo the past two years - I really don't have a clue about how overwhelming the heat can get, do I?
No. No you don't. You have no idea. These past two years have been a cakewalk.
As long as it's not a repeat of the heat and dust of '07 I think I'll be okay. '10 and '11 were kinda rough, but nothin' compared to that year! I'd take a repeat of these last two years any chance I get!

2010 was a bitch. On the Sunday, all I drank was water all day, and I ended up getting very sick in the heat of the day. Thought I was going to pass out, and I am not a wimp about hot weather.
I'm ready. I made a redneck air conditioner yesterday out of a foam cooler, battery powered fan, duct tape, a gutter downspout, and ice. It really works! I'll be able to sleep in my tent until noon if I want to now...
Why would you wanna sleep until noon your at Roo!!

Because I like to stay out until 4 or 5 am and I want to be rested enough up to do that every night. Bonnaroo days are fun, but the best stuff happens at night

I'm with you, I love to sleep in if at all possible. Unlike you, though, I'm not confident the redneck AC can beat the greenhouse effect of a tent. That's why my solution is a hammock and multiple battery powered fans which I hang from the EZ-UP and point at myself.

Last year we went to Roo to celebrate our honeymoon and the weather was amazing! We didn't even have to use our fans at night! I have been spoiled the past few years and but the way the weather has been lately makes me think we will have a nice year again. I loved the breeze!!
Last year, this was the site I went around April and I continually checked it out. For long range forecasts this is now my go to source! theweatherwiz.com/ Forecast for this year’s Bonnaroo. Can’t wait to see how it changes as we get closer…
Bonnaroo 2014 Thursday: High temp:87 F, Low temp: 63 F, Mostly clear and seasonable Friday: High temp: 87 F, Low temp: 63 F, Mostly clear and warm Saturday: High temp: 89 F, Low temp: 66 F, Partly cloudy and warm Sunday: High temp: 87 F, Low temp: 68 F, Partly to mostly cloudy and seasonable with a chance of some light showers or thundershowers

This is fairly similar to what it has been the last two years and it has been amazing. We should all just hope and pray to the weather gods that this is the forecast and that it doesn't change too drastically before we get to Roo.
That would be fucking fantastic weather. I've been 3 times, and except for 2011 when it was hotter than balls, the weather has been near perfect. I just get the feeling I can't stay lucky forever, but here's hoping!

'Roo gods be kind three years in a row! This would be great weather if it comes to pass. We'll see in a couple more weeks!

I would love to use a hammock for sleepy times, but I'm so uncoordinated and would bustmyass. I'm gonna try the AC. I'll report back to you about it post-Roo.

The 2 person hammock linked below will take care of you no matter your level of instability. Just plant your ass in the middle and relax. Let the fabric enfold you. Like a cocoon. So peaceful.

I'd like to see this.. and make this.. Was it hard?

Please keep in mind that these type of air conditioners tend to make things like tents and windows condensate. I would test it in your tent specfically to make sure everything inst going to end up soggy if you go this route.

I saw another guy freeze a gallon jug of water and put it in the cooler. That might be a good idea.
I tried to gather the materials for this one last weekend, but the cooler part that fits inside of the paint bucket doesn't seem to be available anymore. I checked everywhere!

Last year was my first time and I was delightfully surprised at how not miserable I was from the heat. Sunday was the best day, if I remember correctly, it was overcast throughout the day. It was magical.

I am very sensitive to migraines and 2010 almost killed me. I cried once we finally got out of our car after 10 hours waiting on Thursday and probably 3-4 more times after that because I was in so much pain. I vowed never to return to Bonnaroo until they had to go and put Paul on the lineup, but I am very glad I gave Roo a second chance last year.
As horrible as the weather was my first year in 2007 by the time we were on the 10 hour ride home I couldn't wait to return to the incredible and awesome misery of The Farm.

2010 was so so brutal. Total endurance contest. The only thing that kept me from having a heat stroke was putting handfuls of ice in my hat. I had access to the chase freedom lounge and I'd grab a handful of ice out of their cooler between every act. It worked surprisingly well. That was my last year I went, and I don't expect so much access to ice so I'm taking extra precautions. I'm buying a mist fan, a necklace fan, and a frog tog cooling towel. Also going to try and bring an umbrella into centeroo so if I want to sit and rest and can't find shade, I can have my own
My first Roo, but if that above forecast is correct, I'll be extremely happy. If the humidity stays low, it'll be perfect.
Hope for the best, plan for the worst. I pack lots of battery fans and spray bottles for water just in case it gets bad. I also suggest sleeping aids. You will be glad you took them because sleeping is often hard with the heat/loudness/talking/boning/etc going on around you.

Thanks for the advice! I'll take any I can get. I've been following a lot of different posts about what to bring and I'll probably print someone's "survival" checklist and work from that. Definitely planning on portable fans because I have trouble sleeping when its too hot.
