Actually considering Bilbao, but it doesn’t appear to be the easiest to get to. With the exception of Shaky Knees, I’ve given up on U.S. festivals entirely.

I haven't been to bilbao but the train from Barcelona to San sebastian last year was pretty nice and the whole basque region is great to visit. I wish I knew the whole electronic lineup, they've had some great sets till sunrise in years pasts.

I'm having my eyes locked on this fest aswell, maybe we can help each other or something.
It's going between Melt!, BBK or Sonar this year. I've had a bit enough of majors tbh. Will probably still do Werchter depending on how good their undercard cause the headliners apart from that Friday say nothing to me.

A step down from last year (to be expected), but shaping up to be another nice lineup for Mad Cool with a lot of big names still to come. Probably can expect one more headliner Thursday and Saturday and 2-3 more similar size names each day on the second lines. While I hadn't planned on returning this year, the venue itself was nice, but a bit difficult to get to. It does sound like they're trimming down the number of attendees down 5-10k, which will help as well.
Bilbao is tempting, but spending a couple days just getting there and back probably rules it out for me.
Anyone going to Mad Cool this year? I know people are not as excited about this years lineup but theres a lot of acts I've never seen that I've wanted to so we decided to go this year. Was a unique thing for us to have a full festival lineup without one single act we had ever seen before on it too.

I'm still waiting to decide which European festival I want to attend this year. Mad Cool fit my tastes extremely well last year, but I'm not especially excited about any acts on the 2019 lineup other than The Cure and Vampire Weekend. Right now, I'm probably leaning toward BBK Live or Best Kept Secret, which has only released a handful of artists.

Did you go last year? If so how was the experience? (Not counting the logistical issues that I understand were horrible on day one)

I went last year. First off, it's hot. Really hot out there at that time. There is next to no shade due to it being out in the middle of nowhere. There were huge VIP barriers in the front for the two main stages that I believe they are doing away with this year. They were half empty during most of the acts which made for kind of a lame experience. The crowds weren't bad as it was a mixture of people but mostly Spanish peeps. That caused another issue as anything and everything was in Spanish. Even the announcements. Not sure why they did that knowing they were expecting such a large mixture of international people. But if you know Spanish, you should be fine. The sound bleed was noticeable but I felt they staggered everyone enough where it wasn't that much of an issue. Although, I'm still bitter about Massive Attack canceling for that.
Despite the reports I read, it wasn't hard to go back and forth from the city to the festival. The trains ran late (the festival runs till around 4am, starts around 4pm) for me so I had no problems there. Took about 30-40 minutes to get back and forth.
Drinks ran about $8-$10 each but were discounted by half if you had VIP. Same with food which they had a decent mixture of options.
All in all, I wouldn't go if it wasn't for last years line up. It's as exhausting as Lollapalooza with the heat but thankfully, a much more condensed festival than that.

There’s a very good chance I end up returning to this because while it can’t touch last year’s lineup, there’s plenty worth seeing (and they’re still adding another 20-30 names). Assuming they don’t eliminate VIP viewing at the stage entirely and simply condense it, I’d highly recommend going that route. It’s pretty much the price of a GA pass to Coachella, with the viewing area at the main stage, a nice lounge area and discounted food/drinks.
They’re decreasing the overall number of attendees, which will help and from a logistical standpoint I think they’ll learn from last year. It is a bit of pain to get to, but highly recommend staying at The Hat hostel if you want to be in the center of the city.
That Ceremonia lineup is everything. Also adds weight to the rumor that Aphex will be playing one show in Mexico and one in NYC. Patiently awaiting the NYC date now.
Lowlands/Pukkelpop is in the same weekend plus I'm hoping I don't have to redo my exams which is around that period aswell.
So many conflicts! I was mainly joking, but this is an interesting lineup for sure.
Echo & The Bunnymen and The Human League are fun gets, would've been more fun if they expanded it a bit more and picked a few post punk bands aswell. The Jesus & Mary Chain would've made this thing complete imo.
