Plant 2000 new trees, so in the future, we will have shade.
Yeah, I am totally for this. I have only been this year and we had the best spot. We were in Pod 2 in the woods with shade and about a rugby pitch worth of space for us alone. It was incredible. I can't imagine what it was like for my fellow gingers out in the sun. And, plant more trees in general.
They must've blown their tree budget on screens for the tents. They own the park, run a festival that generates millions of dollars, and they still charge the people paying to be on their land for the cost of the trees. That's not America. That's not even Mexico.

I don't see why the # of people would translate into not having a suitable system. Maybe add some more showers and people to clean them? The only time I've EVER seen someone cleaning the showers at Bonnaroo was in VIP. Having even one person at each shower station to periodically hose/scrub down the interior of the stalls with disinfectant and scoop out all the hair & trash would be loads better than what it is now. I'm sure it would do wonders with the drains being backed up too.
And how hard would it be to get some trashcans put in those things? They hand out shampoo samples every year and don't give people a place to toss them, so they naturally wind up all over the place and clog the showers and sinks. Gross.
Just thinking about the Bonnaroo showers gives me the icks.
For me it's the quality of the water (pressure, temperature) that takes away. The actual showers haven't ever been too gross when i've used them and I've seen times where they need to hold up the line to inspect/clean but I'm guessing they don't do it as often as coachella or vip. That's also just my personal experience with them so I may have gotten lucky whereas you've been unlucky.
The trash thing seems like an issue caused by those showering. I always take my wrapper from the shampoo out of the stall with me and toss it out at the table that I paid at. Even if they had a trash can inside there'd still be idiots littering them. Just like how there's an abundance of trash cans inside centeroo yet there's always litter on the ground.
They definitely could upgrade. Maybe that's something we should focus our voices on instead of "screens at the tents" cuz they know we want that already. I guess they figure "if it aint broke...don't fix it" since the system is flawed but people still use them.
A couple people came in to clean while we were showering one night, but they bitched the entire time. Kept telling each other what they WEREN'T gonna clean because they didn't have time because they were "FINNA MAKE IT TO KANYE...F*CK THESE NASTYASS BATHROOMS." Direct quote, haha.
I'm sure the showers aren't as gross if you don't wait til the end of the day, but we didn't wanna wait in line and I'd rather go to sleep clean instead of getting gross all day and then going to bed still gross, haha. I don't, however, remember the Pod 4 shower being as gross last year as Pod 2 was this year and we had the same shower schedule. Definitely could be improved upon either way!
Also, showering at Bonnaroo is for pussies. You pussies.
Absolutely. And I'll be the first to admit it, haha. But I get bitchy as all hell when I feel gross and can't shower. I commend the people who can do it...I simply cannot and nobody around me would want me to try, haha.

I'm from the city. I like to wash my bum hole at least once a day. I won't sacrifice going three days bum hole-scrub-free, no matter how good the music is.

We were in the shade in Pod 2 this year, too. The walk sucked compared to being 2 minutes away in Pod 4 last year, but our spot in Pod 4 was smack in the blistering sun and we didn't have an EZ Up. I'm not ginger, but I am pale as a ghost and I FRIED. I'll take the longer walk to be in the woods over frying like I did last year. Plus, like you said, being in the woods makes it harder for them to put people so close to each other, so we had like 4 times the amount of space. =)

I don't know. I like having a shower, and a shower in my house when I get back from roo is one of those things I feel closest to heaven doing.
That said, just take the proverbial whores bath, wipe yourself down with some rags in the dirty places, and just be at one with your dirt for 3 days.
We're buying an rv to take next year, I still don't plan on showering.

Gross. That rv will be smelling like roses when you get it home.

I don't get the problem with showering... just get a solar shower! Fill it, leave it in the sun... boom- hot shower in 1 hour. Or, if you don't wanna spend money- just bring a clean 5 gallon bucket (like $2 at Lowes, or free if you know people in food service)... leave it full of water in the sun, and use a clean milk jug with holes in the bottom to lift water out and sprinkle over your head... now you have a ghetto fabulous bonnaroo ready shower.
Coachella manages to offer showers for free and they have people working in each trailer making sure they are clean, so it can't be that hard. Paying for nasty showers is a bit of a slap in the face.
I'd imagine Coachella has a lot less people who need to/want to use the showers when compared to Bonnaroo. Also, I bet being closer/having easier access to the city may help if any issues come up like clogging or being backed up.
I totally agree about them improving the showers at Roo, though. Last time I took one it was $7 for cold water that was barely dripping out. I would have been better off just using two jugs of water and a wash cloth.
Coachella also charges a lot more than Bonnaroo. $375 vs $ 284.50 for Bonnaroo. That $90.50 buys a lot of clean "free" showers. Always remember, very little in life is actually free. It may be included in the price.

The extra 90 doesn't go to the showers. A camping pass at Coachella is 80 bucks, that's where they get the money for the campground maintenance. The extra 90 bucks in Coachella's ticket as opposed to Bonnaroo goes to the lineup and art installations, plus the huge amount of paid staff. One reason why Coachella is so clean is that they used paid employees to walk the grounds all weekend cleaning up, while Bonnaroo relies on slave labor Clean Vibes volunteers to do a half-assed job at the end of the night.

Fully agreed with your point, but I gotta stand up for Clean Vibes a little on this one.
I did the post show clean up with them in '07 and '09, and it was actually a very rewarding experience. The Clean Vibes staff really do care about what they're doing. I've never done during show work, so maybe the post show is a little different?
Would I prefer more people working/cleaning up? Absolutely. I've always admired Coachella for their effort in that area. It's definitely an area that Bonnaroo can improve upon.
And I don't think being paid the equivalent of ~$12/hour for your work quite qualifies as slave labor. Well, maybe if you're a lawyer, it does

There are also fewer people at Coachella, but comparable talent to Bonnaroo, screens on the tents, lazers in the Sahara, actual grass, etc.

Aside from the obvious requests (Tent Screens and more shade structures).
BATHROOMS
The bathroom situation at Roo is actually pretty good for a 4 day festival however, Music Midtown this year had these free standing urinals that 4 guys could use at once. It left the Portopottys really open and almost entirely used by girls, which actually kept them cleaner because lets face it guys we have terrible aim after too many drinks. Check out the link below to really grasp what I'm trying to explain.

They had these last year at a couple of stations. It did free up the stalls for all those that need them, and I waited way less to stand up. More 6x urinal pods next year!

Yeah they've had a few over the last 2-3 years. I don't understand why there aren't more though!

I think I didn't know about them last year because I never went all the way to the back of the port a loo tents. I learned, though.
Pro tip most of you already know: never enter the porto tents from the front - people take the first open porto they see. The ones in the back get used less, are therefore usually a little cleaner, and if you approach from the back of the tent, no line.

Seriously, it never fails that there are tons of open portos while people wait in line. I don't get it.
Or you can wear dark winter clothing so that you sweat all the fluids out and eat a block of velveeta cheese on Wednesday night b4 Roo to bind yourself up for a few days. That should cover it. No portos required.
