Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
1. Finally make it to brunch. I had a box of wine and all this home made beef jerky, but I woke up far too late and sprinted to St Paul by myself.
2. Go with a larger group like I've done in previous years. This year it was just myself and two girls, who's daily routine of showering and getting smoothies would take hours. That meant I'd either sit around camp by myself and drink beers while talking to people passing by or going into centeroo alone and getting yelled at later in the day for leaving them.
3. Bring a pen and paper into centeroo. Spent a few hours Thursday night with a cool girl who lives 20 minutes away from me, but both of our phones were dead and we had no way to exchange numbers.
4. Talk to Pondo when I see him. I saw him everywhere but he was always far away!
My group brought green but relied on other people for the extra specials. We bought one variety, and was gifted another because of all the referrals I provided. Both were so weak and shitty. Bonnaroo is an astroturf beach.

Next year I'm bringing more tapestries and a higher quality bucket AC, I managed to get more sleep this year than ever but with $50 more invested I would have been able to make the full 6 AM to 11:30 sleep run which would have made making the early afternoon shows more of a .... thing..
Not sure where this goes, so I'll leave it in the next year thread.
QUESTION: Is 'Roo always the second weekend of June? Need to request it now since my cowoker wants to go. Lolol.
It's been Father's Day weekend every year but one, I think.
It is not always the second weekend of June. Has been the first a few times, maybe even the third. 2007 was the last one on Father's Day I'm pretty sure.

After my first Roo this year, I kind of feel like I just finished my Freshman year of college. I thought I knew what it would be like but it was different and better than I could have imaged.
I feel like I know so much more now than I did going into my first Roo. I went hotel/shuttle route this year and it was great. The Embassy Suites is a very nice hotel. But leaving the grounds every night and re-entering the real world to sleep in A/C didn't quite give me the full Roo experience. I'm considering camping in VIP next year. Being from Minnesota, I'm just not used to the heat but with the right camping setup,(shade, fans, etc) I could see it working out.

Number one thing I learned this year is DO NOT TRUST MYSELF WITH NAPS. I missed J. Roddy Thursday night because I went to sleep at 9 pm.... I though I had time for a quick nap, ended up waking up at 12:30 am when the set ended! Plus I wanted to get a little funky Thursday night.. I ended up just sleeping through until morning. >.<
Bring earplugs. Not necessarily for the shows, but holy shit my neighbor's snoring sounded like you put a god damn screwdriver in a pencil sharpener. It woke me up on several occasions. I concluded that the sounds that were coming out of that tent were not human.. I think some sort of creature crawled in there every night and unleashed its deafening fury.
As always, talk to more folks! This is my goal every year though. I've gotten much better! I talked to so many more people this year than the past few. It felt wonderful.
Oh, and bring something not sweet as snacks. If I eat another peanut butter/chocolate/oatmeal flavored granola bar I think I might throw up. Mama needs the savory.
^^^ Oooh. That's a good one. A cot. I'd never bothered before because I like to pack light and pat myself on the back for not needing fancy things.
But I took a 7 hour nap on Sunday night and it was the best festival sleep I've ever had.
We have a cot that is very much like this one from Target If I had to do it again I'd suggest one a little higher off the ground like this one
Next year I will not get an infusion the day before, I think that's what made my fry like an egg. I'll make more bracelets because everyone seemed happy to get them and that made me happy. Get in better shape and maybe do the Roo run, which will be a Roo walk for me.
I want to try to be that person who sits down with people who are having a rough go of it and brightens their day. I feel like I get too single-track-minded about seeing the shows I want to see that I don't take the time to be a friend to people who might need it. It's good for the soul (theirs and mine) to do that occasionally.
I'm totally this person. I did it more this year than years past, because I wasn't concerned about seeing shows that I already couldn't see, and it felt even better. Having someone thank you for taking a few minutes to talk to them and just ask them if they're ok is a pretty good feeling. I had a guy give me a hug because I gave him full, unopened bottle of water. He looked like a kid on Christmas...
I'm also a firm believer in karma. Thursday night I found a phone and made an effort to make sure its owner knew where to find it and get it back, I even charged it for them. Friday night I lost my phone during Disclosure. It was back in my hands by 9:30am Saturday morning.
I woud also spend more time with you guys as my thing to change btw.

during ice cube I needed water BAD! all of a sudden a cold full unopened bottle came floating through the crowd. I gave the guy the rest of my drink and a smoke and would have done more had I been able to get to him.
I had a custom koozie on my bottle that I just let go with it. Dude was nice enough to even send it back down the line to me.

Yeah... I slept a bit more than I intended to as well

When attempting to nap, I would just recommend forgetting the whole concept, always set an alarm. Even if you just want to get 30 minutes in.

I really enjoyed when you were hanging at our camp and we were just chatting. I was kinda sleepy so felt like I wasn't keeping up my end of the conversation, but you said I was a good listener, so I guess it all worked out
1. I'm going to have a better plan for karaoke at brunch. I kind of threw it all together and it felt like a chaotic mess at times. Plus I didn't get to socialize with people as much as I had hoped to. Upside - Pretty sure everyone who was there knows who the hell I am now LOL
2. I need to rest my feet more. By Sunday I was sore and missed a couple shows I wanted to see because I just camped out on the VIP hill. I really enjoyed the shows there, but I was pretty done for and didn't get to do a last pass through Centeroo before the end of everything.
3. Pass out more "Photobomb" cards. I saw many opportunities to jump in a picture, but hesitated, so I only passed out a handful instead of the masses I envisioned.
4. Be on the rail for more shows. I always stick to the sides or the back because I worry about being squished since I'm practically a midget. Being on the rail for Janelle Monae was the BEST THING EVER and I definitely want to experience that energy again.
5. Get enough sleep the days before Roo so I don't get there already tired. I didn't have the energy I usually do, so I wasn't able to do late night like I wanted to.
6. Don't spend so much time on the VIP hill. This was the first year we went VIP and I LOVED it. The only downside is it's so much more laid back up there. I loved having the chairs to sit in and being able to see the stage, but I missed the craziness that happens in the field.

If it helps, it sounded like y'all we having a good time with it. I went back to chill in my tent but that version of "Wannabe" will remain a Roo memory. :-)
