No it's not better. It's fucking ridiculous. To take offense at those lyrics and reminisce about the good old days of Led Zeppelin and Allman Brothers lyrics about fucking 15 year old girls is a joke to me. Not that anyone has *literally* done that here (yet), but that's what it feels like around here lately.

True. I guess I meant a better (and hopefully more productive) discussion.

Sorry CKS - that was not a value judgment on your comment but a way to express my frustration with some of the bullshit in this once proud thread.
Nice try rebelbrad - it's hard to keep a thread running lately with thoughtful, insightful music-related commentary. Your effort has not gone unnoticed.

This is why we can't have nice things. It's like a bunch of opinionated people sitting down for Thanksgiving dinner. You know it's gonna end with bickering and people getting butthurt.
Yes, we are way overdue for a female headliner. Can Beyonce do it? Yes, whether you think she can or not. If she is booked then great. If not, then great. If you don't like the headliners go find something else to do while they're playing. If AC/Superfly is willing to book an artist then apparently they are Bonnaroo material, no matter if you agree with it or not.
And there is no artist that AC would be willing to book that will ruin the vibe or atmosphere of Roo. Unless CappDog get strung out on meth, completely loses his mind and does something crazy like booking Insane Clown Posse and Twiztid, which would end up with the farm looking like this...
but we shouldn't ever have to worry about that.
I normally stay out of these threads because too many of you take this shit way too personal. It's fucking Bonnaroo, lighten up. I love it as much as the rest of you, and I love all of you here on Inforoo, but I think if some of you couldn't argue about shit your heads would explode. I still love you angry fuckers regardless.
This may or may not belong in the Drunken Rambling Thread. Bey or who the fuck ever else for 2015!
I never said I disliked Beyoncé, just for the record. That's what I find so comical about the earlier argument. Somewhere at the beginning of this thread I said I'm all for Beyoncé headlining out of any other female who could hold down the spot......

soooooooooooooo the consensus is that the only woman headliner that anyone will be willing to watch is a dirty talking Beyonce? or did i miss the point

Either that or she's going to bankrupt Bonnaroo and the festival will be no more.

Also, not a headliner, but there is a woman who could get me to immediately sign on for a music festival anywhere in the US - Kate Bush. There would be a lot of people who would pay a lot of money to see her finally perform in the US for the first time since about '78 or '79.
I have dreams about hearing her serenade me with "Putting The Damage On" while I sway gently, totally sure of my manliness and not giving any of the f*cks.

I love everything about this. When she makes her return you have to be my date to her set.
How do we qualify the term "Female Headliner"? Do we disregard bands who have played with a female occasionally taking lead in the group (i.e. Arcade Fire)? Would Fleetwood Mac qualify because of Stevie Nicks? What about No Doubt? Also, do we disqualify Bjork since she was not a proper headliner?
If we're referring to a solo performing female artist, the only one I'd care to see (again) is Beyonce. Other candidates include Lady Gaga, Madonna, and, god help us, Miley Cyrus Ft. The Flaming Lips.
Edit: More importantly...PORTISHEAD, PORTISHEAD, PORTISHEAD.

Yea, I think in terms of this thread we're mostly talking about solo acts but others have mentioned No Doubt and Fleetwood Mac so I guess there's some wiggle room. Also, yes, we disqualify Bjork from being a headliner because as you say she was not a headliner.
She's not at that level yet and I'm not sure that she will reach it but St. Vincent would be awesome one year.
