Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
She is arguablythe most influential female artist in music. She has one of the strongest followings of any musician, male or female. She has done it all over the past 50 years. And she is currently on tour! Never mind that "farewell" business back in 2005, but if this doesn't happen soon, it may never! Roo needs to act now.
Plus: I would basically turn into Jack Macfarland for the weekend - and I don't think I'd be alone.
So - I suppose the question is, is this within the realm of possibilities?
1. U2 (2009-2011) 2. Roger Waters (10-13) 3. AC/DC (08-10) 4. Bruce Springsteen (12-13) 5. Cirque du Soleil/Michael Jackson (11-13) 6. Madonna (2012) 7. Bon Jovi (2013) 8. Eagles (08-11) 9. Beyonce (13-14) 10. Lady Gaga (09-11)
Someone must be willing to travel to see her and Gaga... I think her age demographic would be very interested in music festivals, too. She'd be a great modern fit for Bonnaroo, imo. Although, I would be happy with Gaga, too. No way would Gaga ever not be a headliner.
Beyonce is also in the Top 20 tours of all time: LINK #2
Throw a wig on Roger Waters and you've got my vote for female headliner!! but seriously, after reading thru this thread and considering the possibilities...I'm not a Beyonce fan, but I think she could headline no prob as long as it doesn't break the bank. How much to book her?? What night? Friday?
I'm not a huge Beyonce fan, but I think that she would make an awesome, awesome headliner. I can definitely see them booking Lady Gaga, though I think her (and to a lesser degree, Florence and the Machine) would be great in a LN What scenario. With the depth of this past lineup, I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility to see Gaga as low as 4th or 5th. Maybe Prince/Foos/Gaga/MMJ, with MMJ > Gaga on Saturday night? Or shit, realistically they could probably book Stevie Nicks for a HL slot and give Gaga and MMJ the LN Which slots...I see a lot of possibilities here. Say what you want about Gaga being a pop act, but she would make booties move, and her theatrics fit in well with Roo's weirdness. Personally, I'd prefer Florence, but I don't think they're up to headliner status yet.
Florence might not be What material. But if you were at their tent afternoon act a few years ago, you'll remember the crowd reaching the fountain. It's was crazy.

Beyonce is headliner material for sure.. but seriously ya'll she's not Bonnaroo material. If you want to see her, go to her concert - don't bring that shiz to Bonnaroo. This is the type of stuff that has people saying "Bonnaroo isn't like it used to be."

I go to Bonnaroo to see amazing artists that will blow my mind, not for some top of the charts Pop act that's all over the front covers of TMZ, and on makeup commercials, and every other of commercialized piece of garbage. I seriously can't believe so many of you would want Beyonce at Roo. No hard feelings! and I'm not one to voice my opinion so strongly but No. Just No. Kanye was enough..

Elton John was a pop act that was all over front covers and such back in his hey day.... Is it because he's an old man now that it's okay for him to headline?

Who says Beyonce wouldn't blow your mind? I want Bonnaroo to give me the most exciting, relevant, and entertaining headliners they can afford, who are at the top of their game and are guaranteed to put on an amazing show.
Or, they could just book Dave Matthews - Pearl Jam - WSP and keep Bonnaroo "real", man.

I'm sorry dear, but Elton John is a quackin LEGEND.. Beyonce might get there in another 10-15 years or so, but she's not on Elton's level, not on Paul McCartney's level, or Tom Petty's level.

Looks guys and gals. I'm not trying to say I just want Jam Bands again. but Beyonce just doesn't seem like Bonnaroo material to me. I just can't see it. Jazmo mentioned Stevie Nicks.. I can see that. I just can't see them bringing out Beyonce or Gaga for that matter. Hell, we probably won't even get a female headliner. It would be nice, but I dunno. To be honest, even if they booked Beyonce, fine - the headliners at Bonnaroo are hardly what sale me on a ticket in the first place.

I thought the point of this thread was to determine who could be a female headliner in 2015 if there will be one. Seems like Beyonce is the obvious pick.
I agree, I also would prefer to have someone besides Beyonce as a headliner. But tbh, I wasn't a huge fan of Elton John either and things turned out fine for me this year. Same in 2011 when WSP was a headliner, in 2012 when Phish was a headliner, and 2013 when Tom Petty/Mumford/Jack Johnson were headliners. It really wouldn't be the end of the world if Beyonce was a headliner. And on the bright side, Jay-Z might show up...and there would probably be more females at Roo in general (and less bros).

"I don't see a non-jam band headlining" - Some dude prior Dave Matthews Band headlining "I don't see an alt-rock band headlining" - Some dude prior to Radiohead headlining "I don't see a metal act headlining" - Some dude prior to Metallica "I don't see a rapper headlining" - Some dude prior to Eminem/Jay-Z

just like tool who blew fucking minds.
or metallica who rocked the shit out of the what stage
etc...
bonnaroo isn't a crusy wook fest anymore, and hasn't been for awhile. as the lineups have shown there isn't a stereotyped bonnaroo band. capp dogg would book bey in a heartbeat and she would be a feather in the cap bonnaroo tipped to the other fests that wished they'd landed her.

Wow alright. I'll catch ya'll later - never would have dreamed Inforoo had so many hard-ons for Beyonce. I'm not saying I don't want a female headliner - I'm just hoping it's not Beyonce.

I've never seen her live but I've heard she is an amazing artist who has mind-blowing shows. The fact that she tops the charts and is featured in pop culture really doesn't matter when it comes down to "Can you put on a great live performance" which is what Bonnaroo looks for.
If I had my ideal scenario I would not have Beyonce there because I like a lot of other big acts much more. I'm not someone who wants her really bad at Roo but out of a lot of the other choices for "pop singer" or "female headliner" I rank her near the top of the list. I understand why so many people want to see her there. Elton John is a legend, that's for sure but I personally would have rather seen Elton John in his prime when he had more energy and was a little more exciting than seeing the older, playing his greatest hits set. I enjoyed his Roo set but I'd love to see a show from him when he was younger and more enthusiastic.
There are plenty of "commercialized" acts that play Bonnaroo and tons of my favorite bands have appeared in (or had their songs featured) in commercials. Those aren't valid critiques of Beyonce's art. You complain about her celebrity persona (TMZ, commericlas) and use that as a way to bash her music. If you don't like her songs that's one thing. If you don't like her because she has appeared on TMZ then that has nothing to do with music.

So... why not get her at her peak before she's old and can't hit the high notes anymore?
That woman is for sure going to be a legend. I don't want to see slowed down versions of the hits when she's 70.

Wait... what?
Most of the song's on Beyonce's new album are so sexually explicit that they couldn't even be played on modern pop radio. There's a big difference in Destiny's Child and the new Beyonce. She's not a pop act. She has a few pop tunes, but so do most artists... so do most artists who play at Bonnaroo.
People talk about Beyonce like she's Justin Beiber or Katy Perry. She may sing pop music (as well as hip hop, r&b, etc), but she doesn't cater to the lowest common denominator. Her music, especially her latest album, is both accessible and challenging at the same time, and takes pop music a step further than radio friendly hits. She's both generally AND critically popular.
