Wow alright. I'll catch ya'll later - never would have dreamed Inforoo had so many hard-ons for Beyonce. I'm not saying I don't want a female headliner - I'm just hoping it's not Beyonce.
Musically I don't have a hard on for her. It's just, who are you to decide what is "Bonnaroo material"? And "Bonnaroo isn't what it used to be"?? You mean an ever changing and evolving major music festival? That's what it always has been.

I go to Bonnaroo to see amazing artists that will blow my mind, not for some top of the charts Pop act that's all over the front covers of TMZ, and on makeup commercials, and every other of commercialized piece of garbage. I seriously can't believe so many of you would want Beyonce at Roo. No hard feelings! and I'm not one to voice my opinion so strongly but No. Just No. Kanye was enough..
I've never seen her live but I've heard she is an amazing artist who has mind-blowing shows. The fact that she tops the charts and is featured in pop culture really doesn't matter when it comes down to "Can you put on a great live performance" which is what Bonnaroo looks for.
If I had my ideal scenario I would not have Beyonce there because I like a lot of other big acts much more. I'm not someone who wants her really bad at Roo but out of a lot of the other choices for "pop singer" or "female headliner" I rank her near the top of the list. I understand why so many people want to see her there. Elton John is a legend, that's for sure but I personally would have rather seen Elton John in his prime when he had more energy and was a little more exciting than seeing the older, playing his greatest hits set. I enjoyed his Roo set but I'd love to see a show from him when he was younger and more enthusiastic.
There are plenty of "commercialized" acts that play Bonnaroo and tons of my favorite bands have appeared in (or had their songs featured) in commercials. Those aren't valid critiques of Beyonce's art. You complain about her celebrity persona (TMZ, commericlas) and use that as a way to bash her music. If you don't like her songs that's one thing. If you don't like her because she has appeared on TMZ then that has nothing to do with music.
This is what I'm talking about man. and Yea, tons of commercial bands play Bonnaroo and that's fine and dandy - but Beyonce is not my first pick by any means and just doesn't seem to fit that Bonnaroo vibe to me. I can't put it into words, it's just my opinion. and I'm sure she puts on a great show - she's a top act. You worded it better than I did. Every one chill the shiz out and put a ring on it or something geez

I mean....you claim she's not "Bonnaroo material" as if such a thing can really be measured. There are plenty of acts that people have tried to claim aren't "bonnaroo material" or "fit at bonnaroo" that include Metallica, Tool, Radiohead, Bruce Springsteen, Eminem, etc. And those are just the headliners. Go back a few years and the average Roo attendee would be shocked to learn that Wu Tang Clan, Deafheaven, Weir Al Yankovic, and Gwar would one day be at the festival.
Bonnaroo is always evolving and if the artist can put on a great performance...then they "fit". The only acts you typically don't need to expect to see are the completely manufactured pop stars that just follow a formula and have little to no creativity themselves (like the teenybopper groups One Direction or Jonas Brothers). For the most part if you're a good live act then you are Bonnaroo material.

I was going to correct my "Weir Al Yankovic" typo but now I'm going to leave it because I pictured Bob Weir with an accordion and curly hair singing polka parodies of Grateful Dead songs and it made me smile.

My vote goes with her as well. But mostly because she was the first person I ever saw wearing anything Captain America related (the elbow pads on her jacket around the two minute mark) besides myself.
Correction. I live in Monroe. There is a difference. and I honestly don't see why that explains shiz.
Yes there is a difference. I'm from Louisiana. And you are truly wasting your time if you think you can convince anyone that Beyoncé could not or should not headline.
It's not that we don't care about your opinion, we just don't understand it.
But we probably don't really care anyway.
Ok, let me put it like this. And this is my last statement on the matter. If I'm not mistaken Beyonce was with Jay Z when he performed at Bonnaroo in 2010. I'm sure he brought her along NOT just because they were together - but also so she could see what Bonnaroo was all about, and meet the people in charge and see about them booking her as an act. That was 4 years ago. I feel like if Bonnaroo OR Beyonce wanted to perform there it would have happened by now.

Going out on a high note I see. This is the most ridiculous anti-Beyoncé logic I've seen yet.

Makes perfect sense to me. She looked around at the farm, said "Oh hell no, I'm not playing in this sh!t hole no matter how much money they throw at me" and left, via helicopter.
As a HUGE Drake and Kanye West fan... I'm always baffled at the people who think they're both headlining material when Beyonce and Rihanna are not. I mean, they make the same kind of music... and I would say Bey and Rihanna would put on a bigger show than Drake and Kanye (or at least an equivalent show). Both females have sold more albums, have bigger fanbases, draw in bigger crowds, and are in the same R&B/rap genres. Also, both put on HUGE shows that can be just as loud as the biggest rock concert you've been to...
What makes Drake and Kanye headlining material over Beyonce?
What makes Beyonce not Bonnaroo headliner material... but Eminem, Jay-Z, and Kanye West is?
Is Rihanna more pop than Drake? I don't think so. Beyonce raps, sings, dances, and does just about anything you can ask her to do... yet Eminem can headline but not her?
I've yet to see a good case against Beyonce unless it's just a money issue. I can see if people don't like her music... well I can sorta see that... but to say she's not Bonnaroo material is putting down Bonnaroo.

Not the best reasoning/argument.
COS: Has there been anyone in particular that you’ve wanted to book for this year that you were unable to?
Ashley Capps: There are always things that don’t work out because of an artist’s schedule or because of other commitments that they might have. That’s why sometimes the booking process like I say can take two or three years or longer of discussions before it ultimately works out so that an artist can play the festival. We always have certain situations that we had hoped to make happen this year that didn’t work out for whatever reason and you know, maybe they will next year.
Rolling Stone: I'm sure every year you think real big in terms of booking – like getting Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin.
Ashley Capps: Well, of course. We're all big music fans and certainly we do think big, like, "Wouldn't it be fantastic to have these artists come to our festival?" Sometimes those conversations are years in the planning before it actually manifests itself. But we also love some of the smaller ideas. It's really about the entire meal, and not just the main course.
I'm pretty sure (but couldn't find the article/interview) that before Radiohead was booked they basically had an open invitation and Roo tried to get them for years before they said yes.
I didn't realize this was one of those threads where if you don't agree with the majority then everyone jumps your ass. I misjudged you guys, and thought you were more open to people's opinions. I sincerely hope everyone gets their Beyonce next year and I hope it is TOTALLY the best show you've ever seen! In all seriousness, I feel like half of ya'll sticking up for Beyonce haven't even so much as downloaded one of her albums for free and you're just being dicks for the hell of it.

Defending the talent of the biggest female musician in the world doesn't really make someone a dick.

I hate this thread turned negative... so in turn, I offer this:

Calling her a "musician" is a stretch. She's an artist/performer but I digress.
