Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Fortunately for us, this isn't MOEMS and we don't need a huge place. I'll actually have some spare cash and might be able to throw down for a private room if we can all agree on somewhere.
I'm still beyond excited. I'm just feeling like it's going to be January before we get anymore news.
Yeah, I agree. This 12 Days of Bonnaroo will run through Christmas, and I feel like Christmas to New Years will be a dead zone of news.
Is Scruffy City Hall no longer a Big Ears venue? I've noticed it's absent from the site/app. Admittedly it's not the best layout for a venue, but the location is good and I enjoyed the shows I saw there (Hailu Mergia, Vatican Shadow, Marc Ribot y Los Cubanos Postizos, Keiji Haino).

I don't know. They may still be getting things worked out. AC basically runs the Tennessee and the Bijou, so it's not really an issue for them to get those venues for the weekend. I know the year before last where they tried to get Big Ears going partially failed because they waited too long and venues aside from those two had been booked for the weekend.

Hopefully it works out with Scruffy City Hall 'cause those 4 venues being within a few blocks of each other is super convenient. If KMA is more prominent in scheduling this year that means a long walk which sucks timing-wise.
Assuming the Great Hall is that big room where the held everything last time.
Have you heard their version of Rite of Spring? I'm literally playing that right now (check Now Playing).
That's actually what made me check. I have not and need to get on it. That's what they are playing at Big Ears. I also spotted a tasty night on that tour playing Ornette Colemans "Science Fiction". I wast that shiz too.

It's really good - I'd love to see it live. Pitchfork's review got this one wrong - they focused on comparing it to the power of Stravinsky's orchestra rather than the touch and atonal rhythms required for Augurs of Spring and Sacrificial Dance. It's a more haunting, dangerous version of Rites and so of course it won't have the same power surge as Pierre Boulez' version (also very good, but for different reasons).
I haven't heard the Science Fiction stuff but would like to. I'm in an Ornette mood now though, thanks.

Not that this gives us any definitive dates... but I asked when we'd hear about the latest additions... they replied: "Looking forward to you joining us! We're working on that as we speak. Stay tuned!"
I am pretty sure I saw where this will be performed at Big Ears but I am hoping we will also get to hear some pieces from his album "The Blue Notebooks".

Yes, please. That's actually my favorite works by him.

I read somewhere that he's doing Vivaldi, if not this article then something similar: link
Thu. March 26 – Nashville, TN @ The Stone Fox Fri. March 27 – Knoxville, TN @ Big Ears Sat. March 28 – Louisville, KY @ The New Vintage* Sun. March 29 @ Columbus, OH @ Spacebar*
Saw this posted to the YOB Facebook the other day and Big Ears was the first thing I thought about. I could see YOB taking that Earth slot.
We will be adding more dates after these shows wrap up. More about that soon!
YOB w/ Enslaved, Ecstatic Vision: 3/05/2015 Brick By Brick – San Diego, CA 3/06/2015 Rey Theatre – Los Angeles, CA 3/07/2015 Slim’s – San Francisco, CA 3/09/2015 Hawthorne Theater – Portland, OR 3/10/2015 Rickshaw Theatre – Vancouver, BC 3/11/2015 Corazon – Seattle, WA 3/13/2015 Bar Deluxe – Salt Lake City, UT 3/14/2015 Summit Music Hall – Denver, CO 3/16/2015 Mill City Nights – Minneapolis, MN 3/17/2015 Thaila Hall – Chicago, IL 3/19/2015 Opera House – Toronto, ON 3/20/2015 Les Foufounes Electriques – Montreal, QC 3/21/2015 Gramercy Theatre – New York, NY 3/22/2015 Union Transfer – Philadelphia, PA 3/23/2015 Baltimore Soundstage – Baltimore, MD 3/24/2015 Sinclair – Boston, MA
The lack of southern dates leads me to believe they are going that way.

Couple questions, as I've never been to this fest/Knoxville before: 1.) Is the fest walkable? (Anyone got a map from a previous year?) 2.) What are the best places to stay downtown? (I like my options, looking for something affordable, but within walking distance) 3.) I'll very likely be going to this alone and don't think there's anyone I know going. Does anyone want to hang out?

1.) If they stick with the venues from last year, yes. In the interview that was posted a little bit ago, El Cappo spoke about maybe having some popup shows in other venues but they were looking into shuttles and the like. 2.) I really don't know. The out of town people would probably have a better idea on downtown hotels. There's not any shitty ones downtown that I know of, so anywhere you choose should be legit. 3.) Oh hell yeah.
I'm always up for a good hangout. I won't be solo this year but my wife is teh best. She got drunk once and bit a cop. I'm hoping to make memories like this again.
Size Wise (smallest to largest): Tennessee Theater Bijou Theater Scruff City Hall Square Room
I never made it to the KMA for a show but it looked large. That said, those events will likely be free to the public and K-Town ate that shiz up last year.
I'll be curious to see how these outdoor/pop-up shows go down. I'll be honest here. If you are forced to ride a shuttle with me to Swans, I apologize in advance. This goes for any of you folks.
Knoxville hotels and cheap don't go hand in hand. Staying downtown, at least. Phi said about $100/night per hotel in another post and he's absolutely right. The further you stay out the cheaper it becomes. Don't let driving in sway you. You'll never have any problem parking downtown. I paid $5/night for parking last year and I feel silly now. There is just an abundance of free spaces everywhere.
