Crowne Plaza, The Oliver (with a cool speakeasy bar and right in market square), and Hilton are the closest to the action. Holiday Inn, Four Points, Hampton Inn are within distance as well, maybe 15 minutes or so of walking. The only one I wouldn't stay at, that is considered downtown, is the Marriott.
Nils Frahm posted a video of him and Stargaze performing Terry Riley's "In C" (which I had never heard before watching this video). I thought some of you might find it worth watching:https://vimeo.com/115342225
I’m excited that Sam is returning to Big Ears this year. He is planning to perform twice. He’ll play a concert with his own band, and he, along with Rhiannon Giddens, will also perform with the Kronos Quartet, presenting their selections from a beautiful concert of Folk Songs that I had the pleasure of seeing this past September, which Kronos presented at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
For those who don't have 17 minutes to listen to the interview, here are some notes. - Kronos Quartet will perform new folk songs with Rhiannon Giddens and Sam Amidon. Capps said he saw them at a concert together in September and was absolutely blown away. He spoke about potential expansion to the program he saw then.
With everything going on this past year, I had to make a choice between that and Hopscotch. It's obvious where I was. I've seen them a few times though. Most recently was with Steve Shelly on drums (pre-Pre-Language). They rule live though. I saw where they covered Bowie's Low a few months ago. The new albumn makes me realize how bad I want them there.
Small potatoes right now butttt (from an email blast they sent out):
"We've been hard at work for weeks finalizing the lineup and we're nearly ready to share the new artists who'll be joining us for ?Big Ears 2015! We’re feeling incredibly inspired for what’s in store and can’t wait to share all we’ve got planned. Be sure to stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitter in the coming days ... you may see a few hints on the full lineup!"
Hopefully week after next? I don't see them going strong during Bonnaroo lineup time.
