I'm not gonna write out a detailed list of complaints because it will just be repeating what others have already said. The thing is, I had a really fucking fun time because I was with an amazing group and planned my time well so that I made it to nearly all the shows I really wanted to see (uhhh okay except a couple of those 12:30 pm shows - it isn't that early at all but was still hard as hell to get everyone rounded up by then haha), and I had good luck with snagging really solid spots for the most part, etc. etc. But all of those are self-made/within-the-bounds-of-my-group reasons for how much fun I had. As a festival? Yeah, it is poorly run. The water situation was absurd, though I did find that there was often a much shorter line for the slightly warmer water spigots to the right side of the Coffeehouse station, so I opted for those most of the time and didn't wait that much more than 10 minutes ever. I guess I timed it well, too. The crowd is young as fuck - and act like it. Just walking around seeing sooooo many fucked up dehydrated people really brought me down at times because it made me worry for those people. Doesn't help knowing that apparently the medic tents were a joke. My friend and I who both went to Roo last year were genuinely so perplexed on Thursday as we walked around and saw no one dancing around freely/weirdly and no one giving random hugs or many high fives. He was like "I mean, I'm just gonna start running around and dancing in the field, despite the fact that no one else is." So that's what we did. The vibes are meh (except for a few shows - Glass Animals and Kygo come to mind as shows where I looked around and everyone looked pretty with it and smiling and engaged with others around them) - but then my friends and I just decided to focus on each other and be as weird as we want and go with that. So we had an awesome time. But would I recommend this festival to someone who asked me to suggest a well-organized, good vibes festival? Absolutely not.
Point is: yes, a lot of us had fun. I certainly did. But it was by my own making, much less by way of RedFrog doing things right. Also I guess it helped that I found the mud to be super fun, not a hindrance at all, haha. And unless they score an INCREDIBLE lineup next year, I will not be returning. Roo gets my money in 2016.
That's all.
Overall, my experience was pretty similar to yours. It was great to spend a long weekend with two of my best friends, and I got to see a bunch of great musical performances. I didn't have any huge sound issues, and the weather/mud was merely an inconvenience. Like you and others have stated, my biggest issues were with the festival vibe (I admittedly don't like using this word), overall organization, and the water situation. I would consider going again if the lineup is worth it and they work out some of the bigger issues.
People have to love Paul? Inforoo has a lot of great forums. However, this Firefly one has to be the worst.
Me stating that Zedd was better is not an attack on Paul/The Beatles/The Wings. It doesn't even mean I like Zedd more than Paul (I'm not even an 'EDM' fan). It means I had a better time during that set than at Paul's. I placed a higher level expectation for Paul and it wasn't met. Boo-f-ing-who that Paul wasn't on my list. Dumpster fire.

It just means you have bad taste in music, no need to get offended.

I thought they did a great job with the mud situation it could have been so much worse. I thought the sound was great and I got good spots at almost every show I wanted to except maybe Snoop. The evacuation was done pretty well except for people who got stuck on the wrong side of the festival and had to wait on the bus forever.
The really bad thing about this festival was the water situation. I saw atleast 20 people pass out at shows. I would say anytime I was close to a stage atleast one person fainted during that show.
The vibe of the fest does kind of totally suck. I'm 31 and felt old as fuck. I will say everyone around us was awesome and I think appreciated having us as neighbors and our ability to help in certain situations. I also had the best neighbor I have had at any fest. We combined our spots and made a totally rainproof area complete with a living room.
The lead up to the fest also sucked compared to other festivals. They missed their own deadlines and did little to create excitement.
For me to return they will have to have the ultimate lineup. Otherwise I will give my money to another festival.
Another great Firefly moment.... Im buying a beer and the guy starts complaint about all the underage kids trying to buy beer from him. While he's complaint to me a girl who couldn't have been over 18 comes up and buys a beer without being IDed by the guy complaining

Precisely this. Yeah, if they score Prince and Daft Punk and Radiohead (okay thats extreme of course, but what I mean to say is if they somehow get a truly AMAZING lineup) for 2016, sure, I'll go back. But even if Firefly's lineup is slightly preferable to Roo's next year, I'm choosing the latter because it is overall so much more of a smoothly run, free spirit embracing, good feeling festival/experience.
Luckily my FF 15' crew already said they're down to do Roo next year instead. Win win win.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

This is my thought exactly. With that being said I still had fun with my crew and I got to see McCartney a 2nd time around which even my parents can't say. I finally ended my 5 year chase of the Killers and that along with Macca was worth my money. I got to RTJ, Tove Lo, and Hozier twice in the span of two weekends thanks to FF and Roo. So my two week double dip was not all bad! To add I am still trying to figure out what was worse on my mind, body and soul, The water situation or the steaming pile of shit that was Matt & Kim?
For the record, I posted a sincere response yesterday because I was asked to and rather than just disagree, you guys decided to rip me apart like jackals, with a bunch of silly name calling, etc so any negativity is on you guys. I've had good conversations with people on here before, but I guess they only stay constructive as long as everyone agrees with each other. Sad...

To sum up everyone's posts- I had a great time and there was great music but f you firefly cause water and vibes
I get the water situation was less than ideal but most of the other complaints are just to complain because you have to compare everything to Bonnaroo. Don't get me wrong Bonnaroo is still #1 in my books too but if you think the "vibes" aren't changing there too you're ignorant. It's going to continue to change every year as more of the younger generation start attending festivals and as we all get older our festival/life priorities change.
Not to mention the folks/police actually seem to welcome you in Dover where in Tennessee they see it as a revenue and arrest opportunity.

Speaking of vibes, did anyone else catch Skylar Spence's set at the Porch Stage on Saturday afternoon? It was an awesome, intimate little dance party. Based on the songs he has released thus far, I'm really looking forward to his debut LP.

I think things will start being constructive again when the Firefly apologists (including you) stop using the excuse that Firefly is still a new festival that's going through "growing pains". I WANT an excuse to give redfrog my money, so it's annoying to see this explanation being used 4 years in

Ugh I wanted to go to that really bad but couldn't muster up the energy and roundup the group until 4:00ish. The bright spot is he'll probably be a cheap show for the foreseeable future. As I wrote half of this I just checked, yup they're in Brooklyn for all of $12 on a Saturday. That'll probably happen, glad to hear it was fun.
I thought I put it out there in my first post yesterday that disorganization was the main cause for all the problems, but if it didn't come across that way then I'll just have to do better. I'm fully aware Firefly doesn't do things as well as other festivals.

Just to clarify, I said "including you" but that's because no one else on this forum is paid to speak on RedFrog's behalf (or at least if they are, they're not very vocal). I'm fully aware that you can probably only tell us what you're told, but maybe that's part of the issue? Like, maybe RedFrog should give you more authority as the "fan ambassador" so that you can actually do some ambassador'ing?
If not, as fans we just hit this wall where it's like, Firefly says they have this MikeG guy out there collecting our feedback... but he can't do anything with it, and we feed him horseshit information just to sweep those pesky concerns under the rug.
To Firefly: Make the basic changes people are concerned about and it WILL become the East Coast's Premier music festival, not just in name. God knows I hope it does; the trek to states beyond Delaware eat up an extra vacation day, but it's worth it to know that the fest I go to doesn't just look at me as a source of revenue.

Definitely worth the $12. They're still working some kinks out because this is their first big year of touring, but they were great with crowd interaction and kept expressing their gratitude for being invited to Firefly.

I hear ya. Technically, my role is a Brand Ambassador, not a representative of the fans. I'm here to promote the festival, which I do, but it's kind of evolved into an extension of customer service, so I'm willing to take that on too. Like I said yesterday though, the misconception is that I just blindly defend the festival and it's organizers and I think that's where people have it wrong. They wanted to put someone out in the community and that's where I come in. True, there is a lot of operational stuff I'm kept in the dark on that would be helpful to you guys, but I'm hoping that will change. Like I said, I was embarrassed when I saw that water line at the pavilion stage, completely. I was actually giving out my meal vouchers for people to buy water.
but it's worth it to know that the fest I go to doesn't just look at me as a source of revenue.
This is what happens when both teams win the little league championship people.
Lol. I meant that other fests make it less obvious that they see me as a walking dollar sign. But this burn made me laugh so I ain't even mad... You bastard.

Nailed it.
It's simple, they needed more water stations. That's all. Most other complaints just seem like people going out of there way cause it's not Roo. Bonnaroo is great, prob to this day the best experience I have had at a festival...but it has it's cons as well.
