I was gonna think 'bout goin' home fer this show until I actually saw the order of the lineup.
First Bonnaroo and now the White House disrespecting My Morning Jacket by not making them headliners. When will this injustice stop????? #ThanksObama #MyMorningJacketBillingMatters

Is it bad that this is the thing that the government has done to piss me off the most?

Great news: the ladyfriend texted me saying she was getting MMJ tickets for the Knoxville show for the both of us. Unfortunate news: the only tickets left in the presale are way up in the corner of the balcony, so she isn't sure if she should buy them or try the general onsale.

I would wait for the general on sale for sure.
I think she decided she is going to try in a bit to see if anything closer gets released due to carts timing out and such. If not, she'll wait for the general onsale.

if she has the option, after about the first 20 or so rows, you are better off in the front of the balcony, IMO. If you search by "best available" though it will give you floor seats, even if they are way in the back or way on the side. if you search for balcony you can often score some sweet seats near the center in the first few rows (if they weren't taken in pre-sale, obv) bc most people search by "best available." that was always my strategy at the Tennessee. For 2 Panic residencies and Wilco I was able to get first row balcony and it feels like you are looking right down on the stage.

Got tickets to the New Orleans show, 4 GA Pit up front and 4 for Section B row 1!!! Should I do the seats or the pit? It might be hella hot July 31st in Nola..here's the seating chart
There will be a second leg later in the year, but the question is when and how extensive.
Oh and #westcoastNYE
I haven't made a NYE show for various reasons in the past two years (since we did MMJ at the Agganis). I am SO overdue for one.
EDIT: I did see a local guy last year, but wasn't able to make plans until last minute so didn't get to do a real show.
I love me a good NYE show. For one thing, if I choose acts that aren't too far out there, I'm usually able to get a bunch of friends who don't normally go to shows to go with me. I also think most acts give it a little extra on that night.
NYE 2014: Trombone Shorty, North Mississippi Allstars NYE 2011: Joan Osborne NYE 2011: Tedeschi Trucks Band NYE 2010: Furthur* NYE 2009: Furthur* NYE 2006: Black Eyed Peas and Sergio Mendes, John Legend (A free concert on Ipanema Beach in Rio; me, my wife, my then-teenaged daughters, the teenaged boys trying to glom onto my teenaged daughters, and over a million of our closest friends. Sergio Mendes's 1st time back playing in Brazil in 28 years.)
Is Orlando the only place that got a venue where you don't have to sit down?
Echoing what Dave Maynar said, I've never been to a show at a seated venue that required you to sit down.
I have learned from my co-worker that does security for the Bijou that sitting v. standing is the eternal struggle of bluegrass shows in Knoxville where all the younger people want to stand up and dance while the older people want to sit the whole time. He says bluegrass shows are by far his biggest headache because people complain to him all night about others standing up.

I saw that myself actually when I saw Greensky Bluegrass back in January at the Barter Theater in Abingdon. The crowd was something like 70% young, 30% old. Me and the other young people were standing and dancing in our seats and the aisles, the older people looked kinda annoyed at it. I saw a few of them futilely asking the people standing in front of them to sit down.
I can understand them being upset, but at the same time being forced to stay seated at a show would suck. I love to dance at shows and get into the music, can't really do that sitting.
I'll be at the Bijou later this month for the War on Drugs, your co-worker should have an easy time with that one, not too many old people at that show i'd think.

Ah yes, that's not what I meant though. The venue, the Hard Rock, in Orlando might have seats in the balcony (idk, I've never been up there) but there are NO SEATS on the floor, it's a big, standing only pit. There aren't even seats further back from the stage, it's ALL standing on the floor level of the venue. Which I'm excited about because it is quite easy to get on the rail for shows there.

Stage AE in Pittsburgh is standing only as well. I was surprised/disappointed they decided to move this summer tour indoors. There is something to be said about being outside in the summer listening to good tunes.

Oh man am I jealous of you right now, you can get front row easy if you get in early enough, have a blast dude!
