This was the first time I'd seen MMJ since 08. They've been my white whale for the past 7 years as I've missed countless chances to see them or Jim for every reason under the sun. I was so happy to finally see them again and they absolutely crushed. I'm taking my parents to see them tomorrow for mothers/fathers day for day 1 of a two night stand so I'm hoping they play a bunch of deep cuts and covers. Either way it's going to be tits.

I'm the same, seven year hiatus since LN 08. I'll be seeing them either once or twice later this year, so far its been an incredible return

This was my first time seeing MMJ. I know they had a monumental four hour set in the rain at 'Roo in 2008 that I really wish I could have seen, but even with that in mind this was still the most fun I've ever had at a show in my life (my jaw involuntarily opened itself at the opening drums of Dondante right after Lay Low). Before the lineup came out I had never listened to MMJ, but I trusted inforoo and went to work for six months. Because of this I thought I was going to be one of the more educated fans in the pit. I was wrong. Right in front of me there was a couple that said this was their 12th or 13th time seeing them, and they knew every word to every song. They made the show a whole hell of a lot better.
Anyways getting to the point, I'm going to see MMJ again at the beginning of August. The setlist they played at Roo seemed to have a lot of the heavy hitters on it, but I realize this isn't how they always do things. So I want you guys to post some of your favorite MMJ songs that were NOT played at Bonnaroo this year, because I want to be ready for August. Here are some that I hope they play at the next show I'm at:
Tennessee Fire:
The Bear, I Think I'm Going to Hell, Heartbreakin Man, They Ran
At Dawn:
At Dawn, Low Down, Death is the Easy Way
It Still Moves:
I will Sing You Songs, Steam Engine, Dance Floors
Z:
It Beats 4 U, Knot Comes Loose
Evil Urges:
Touch Me I'm Going to Scream Pt. 1, Sec Walkin, Librarian, Thank You Too
Circitual:
They played the two songs that I mainly listen to off this album. Educate me.

The Waterfall:
Thin Line, Only Memories Remain
If I was seeing them again I'd want to hear some more of the folky or acoustic stuff like Golden (It Still Moves), Wonderful (Circuital), or Get the Point (The Waterfall). Also Big Decisions sounded great when they played it at Boston Calling . Other than that your list and their Roo set pretty much covers all of my favorites. I really want to hear I Will Sing You Songs, and I'm jealous of anyone who goes to a show where they play it.

It's such a long song they'd probably need a really long set to clear some space for it. God it'd be nice though. Listening right now, around 2 minutes is magic.

They've played it on this tour a couple times. I mean Dondante was over 12 minutes at Roo, so they're not really afraid of long songs

Truth spoken. Now that I've seen Dondante if they could swap it for I Will Sing You Songs that'd be awesome.
I saw them for the first time this year, and I was pissed at myself for letting my friends convince me to leave for Childish Gambino (who was really disappointing). I was so mad at myself, so I remedied that by paying $300 to buy myself a ticket to see them again and share their beautiful music with 3 of my friends
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Two nights in Columbus starting tomorrow! Very excited! unfortunately I have a friend who, last minute, can't go. So I have an extra ticket for each night. The first nights ticket is around the row 2-3 range and the second night around row 5-8 (I can give specifics if someone is interested). I normally wouldn't post tix on here but they are really good tickets and I don't want them to go to waste. If anyone is interested pm me.

Just saw them on Saturday again and had a great time. I looked over at my step-mom during "Wordless Chorus" and she was grinning ear to ear. Neither of them had ever heard of MMJ until I told them we were going and they both loved it, hopefully it doesn't take another 7 years to see them again. The show was GA in a small theater so we got some really nice seats.
Outside a guy I work with was there with his culty church handing out pamphlets and telling people they were going to hell. Is it just me or does MMJ seem like a really odd choice to go and stand outside of, especially if the women wear bonnets.
My Morning Jacket KILLED IT tonight. Great set list. Played 6 of the 8 songs I requested from them so I can't complain, although there was no "One Big Holiday".
Set list: Mahgeetah Compound Fracture The Waterfall Touch Me I'm Going to Scream Pt. 1 It Beats 4 U Evil Urges The Way He Sings Golden War Begun Low Down Thin Line What a Wonderful Man Nothin to it Guitarist Carl sung a song unsure of title Steam Engine Gideon Dancefloors

Carl did Carried Away. I think it's off his solo album. Actually, my favorite sequence of the night was Carried Away > Steam Engine > Gideon to close. So good! A lot of my favorites were played tonight, but still excited for round two tomorrow!
One other thought: Being in a seated venue was a little odd, but the acoustics were amazing indoors compared to all the outdoor shows I've seen them perform.

I'm just echoing what's already been said but wow! I was 2nd row in the pit right in front of Carl and it was amazing. I think the setlist may be even better tonight! My friend snagged a set list from last night too! Bring on round 2!

The setlist was very cool and unique I thought, but I don't think they played dancefloors. Can't wait for tomorrow!
Honestly it was my favorite set list I've seen from them in awhile. Close to perfect for what I was wanting to see. I didn't think they played dancefloors either but they had it on their official set list so I was thinking maybe I was just drunk. Really happy I went.

I think I'd get by just fine if I never heard one big holiday again.
That set is great tho, love Bermuda highway and war begun.
I had never gotten to see them live until last night so I was really hoping to hear it. But if you've seen them a few times already I would understand why.

it's never really been a favorite of mine, probably from over-saturation (both live and recorded). but i have also had 2 incredible, ethereal live experiences with that song (closing out OBH in mexico) that I don't think will ever be matched.
I've only seen MMJ 3 times now. Roo (this year) and the two shows in Columbus. And I think it's safe to say I'm 100% in love now. Last nights show blew me away. I actually cried during I Will Sing You Songs and I basically stood there in awe during Phone Went West. As I said, I'm new to this MMJ love, so I have no idea how this setlist compares to their normal stuff. But the people around me were losing their shit at times, so I think it's safe to say we got a pretty stellar two-night set.
So yea, as it was phrased to me last night, "I've drank the kool aid." Debating if I should try and make it to Minneapolis in time for their show there on Saturday. I wasn't planning on getting there till about 10pm, but I could maybe try and get there earlier....
