So the better half and I last night were drunkenly debating a comedy act we would sacrifice the better part of a day @ Roo to see (as it appears that's the requirement to get into the comedy tent for a popular act.) Obviously Dave Chappelle has been discussed at length on this board, appropriately so, but recently, Key & Peele top our personal favorites. We did bash heads a bit regarding how a performance of theirs might work in the setting. Anybody catch Drunk History in '14?
We are HUGE fans of The State, Upright Citizens Brigade, and all the actors associated with them. 2013's Reno 911 set was a big draw for us, unfortunately we underestimated the amount of fellow fans, or perhaps overestimated 'Roo's knowledge/ability/willingness to accommodate that interest. Certainly not trying to bash the beloved 'Roo folks, just wish I could have gotten more than a brief greeting in line thanking me for my State shirt by Junior (Ben Garant) and a sack thump/frisk from Dangle (the amazing Thomas Lennon).
Key and Peele would be great headliners/top acts. I'd love to see them come back. I missed them the last time they were around.
John Mulaney and Rory Scovel would be good too.
Damn...guess I'm showing my ignorance and should have checked lineups. Certainly hadn't realized they'd been there before. Did you get to see them last time ITMonkeys? Totally agree on Mulaney and Scovel. Also, I think Stephen Wright might get me back up to TN all by himself.
never been able to justify missing music for a comedy act at roo, not sure if any comedian can change my mind on this one...
I totally feel you, and I guess that was the crux of my "debate" with the better half. If I could get in and out of the comedy tent fairly easily, then maybe it would be different. I guess you answered the basis of my query, is there a comedy act a significant portion of us would miss music to see. Even for the namesakes in this thread, I can't imagine wanting to miss a half days worth of music.

I think they conflicted with something I wouldn't miss. But what sucked for others was that they were promoting Key and Peele for Comedy Central and had their photos all over the comedy tent passes. So people in the audience of another comedy show I was at were sitting there waiting for Key and Peele to come out without realizing they wouldn't be appearing. That made me chuckle.

After the past few years of Roo I find myself wishing for comedy acts I want to see, but basically nobody so huge that I'd have to sacrifice multiple shows to catch them. The only comedian I might sacrifice a ton of time to see would be Louis CK, but I imagine a lot of other people would have the same inclination, making the process even more difficult.
I'd be super duper thrilled if they could get Tom Segura. His netflix special was my favorite piece of comedy this year. He's not a star yet but I could easily see him hitting Aziz type levels, his material is just so insanely good.
so anyway everyone watch Tom Segura's special if you haven't already.
I don't think I'd miss music for him, but a top comedy act that seems to be one of the more likely comedians to perform is Jimmy Fallon (I haven't looked to see if he's been before though)
The only comedian that would get me to into the comedy tent is the aforementioned Dave Chappelle. Also, if we can include things that won't happen, I'd do it if they got Bill Murray to perform (I already know this won't happen, but the optimist side of me has to acknowledge that he's alive and could decide to tour if he wanted to)
Jimmy Fallon really seems like the most likely act to me, but if they bring him, I really hope that they'd put him as the pre-HL like they used to. Also, Jimmy could definitely host a super jam if they wanted him too or at least come out during a superjam as Neil Young.

He has
Dangggg, how long ago? Was it before he got really big from doing the tv shows?
Anyway, now that I'm thinking about it, they should definitely let him do a superjam or at least be involved in one.
oh my god, I just realized how perfect he would be if Questlove did another superjam!

UGHHH!! BARFF!!!!! GAG ME WITH A SPOON!!!! USE THE SEARCH FEATURESS!!!!! TINKER WITH THEM!! UGHH!!(Satire)
I LOVE YOUR GOULDIAN FINCH AVATAR!!!! (Satire)
I really do like your jolly gouldian finch though, I breed them.
How much are your jolly gouldian finches? Send one to all the haters on here with an olive branch. I'll take one too.
Key and Peele would be great. I'm in for that. I also just found this list of comedic performances from Conan, which we're sure to get a few from, yeah?

Hahaha, that would be hysterical, but I don't breed enough to sell. I've been branching out to others finches (as well as some other, slightly larger birds) so my gouldians can act as currency when I try to trade up at the bird shows I go to. I did this and got two owl finches and they recently actually had some eggs hatch, so I'm ecstatic.
Sorry for derailing the thread, but I'd love to see jimmy come out dressed as Neil young and play with Neil himself.
They comedy at Roo is great and I've been lucky enough to have a few times where I could see a show and not miss music I wanted to see. Kyle Kinane in 2012 was probably my favorite comedy set I've seen at Roo. Comedy Bang Bang was great as well.

More importantly, bring Drunk History to Bonnaroo
I believe they did Drunk History this year. I was wondering how they did it? If it was anywhere near as funny as the show I would've lost my shiz! Anyone catch that or hear about it?

I caught one of them. It was great. It was "Drunk History Live" so it wasn't the exact same as the show BUT they did play a bunch of segments from the newest season. It was a preview at the time of Roo (as it hadn't aired yet) but now that season is over.
They would basically show a segment and then do some kind of skit or scene or segment after each one. They had Taran Killam come out in one segment and portray his SNL character Jebidiah Atkins to criticize all the names of Bonnaroo bands. In another segment they had Kyle Mooney portray his SNL/Youtube character Bruce Chandling who does stand-up that is corny as hell until it gets really dark and serious/sad before he goes back to goofy. There was another segment with the main guy's girlfriend that had them talk about something and show a behind the scenes clip and finally there was a skit that was performed featuring the girlfriend, Kyle Mooney, one of the Farrelly brothers, and the main guy that was weird and didn't make sense until they revealed a video clip (that was basically the same thing we just saw performed live but it's funny now cuz we realize one of the characters was totally wasted and this was a behind the scenes thing while filming his segment of Drunk History).
It was a great show and made me happy to see Taran Killam/Kyle Mooney since I missed their own shows.
