It's worth mentioning that Mumford sent an email out last week promising North Americans that there would be an announcement soon that will please them.
You can't please all the North Americans all the time. Would settle for an announcement that would please New Englanders.
Heard the new Ryley Walker album on XM today. Sounds really good and I'm hoping he gets to Newport. He is doing Pitchfork this year.

Maybe they will do some more of those "stopover" shows. If they do those again, that must increase the chance of a Newport stop because those shows are typically smaller from what I understand.
Check out this article. They were denied a "gentlemen" stopover in Iowa for 2015. This means that they are looking to do some more of those this year. According to this article, they were looking at Luther which is 2000 ppl appx.
So, to entertain the argument that M&S won't entertain a small venue because they are too big. They definitely will entertain that idea...

The video make me think that the Mumf announcement will be for a new album, seeing as it's them about to kick into a song. It's also worth noting that their current last scheduled date pre-NFF is July 10th in Portugal then afterwards its August 7-9 in British Columbia, then Aug. 28-30 back in the UK. So that does put them in North America around Newport. That's a start!

If they're trying to emphasize that they're electric/rock/whatever with this album, I have to think that makes any appearance at a festival with "folk" in the name even less likely. I'm a fan though and would love to see them there!

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for New Basement Tapes. Mumford would be cool, but if I'm seeing them at Roo and potentially the NJ stopover I'd rather Newport give us something we could probably never again
You think he would headline the Friday? Thought he would be too big for the Friday
Also, who is "he"? Unless you're talking about MMJ, then yes, I agree they're probably too big for Friday.
Edit: Just looking at other fests, Ryan Adams is only placed two behind MMJ at GovBall. Maybe NFF is stepping up their game and lowering them to Friday.

Yeah my bad, I always think of Jim James when I refer to MMJ. I meant "they"
So I been in the Album of the Month thread, checking out various things before I cast my vote. Listening to this, and it sounds like a good fit for Newport.

I'm hoping San Fermin will play this year. They are SO talented, and I think they'd be great at the Fort! I love the rolling lineup, but I also just wanna know! Haha...
