Hadn't even thought of Florence and the Machine, I love her (especially live). Wonder if she's a little too pop for NFF? Then again, she does have a harp in her band...

The new Sufjan album is fantastic! I've only liked a couple songs from previous albums, but I'm definitely going to have to go back and listen again. I'm really hoping he gets over his hate for playing festivals for Newport!
Hoping I get to see his set. I saw him open for Lucius in December and his music is just so interesting and different. He's a great guitar player too
Saw that tour as well and was equally impressed - look forward to seeing him again. I admit I assumed "Bahamas" referred to the whole band though. Does he ever perform solo?

I thought the same. I don't think he ever plays solo, but everything I've read about him/it/them makes it out like it refers to him in particular. The most recent album is titled "Bahamas Is Afie," Afie being his name.

Ha! I guess we're not the first who were confused if he titled the album that...
Has Calexico been discussed yet? New album in a few months, and it's been some years since they played on the farm. Always wanted to see them live, and it would add a little something different to the mix.
Click the 12 long weeks link. Calexico at The Met.
3 months - including NFF- in 'the Boot'. Rolled my foot on the uneven wooden floors dancing my old lady arse off and broke the 5th metatarsel sp? which i've come to find out is the slowest healing bone.

Woohoo! Bahamas is fantastic! I saw him opening for Jack Johnson in 2013. If I remember correctly, he did a few songs solo, and a few with three female backup singers and a drummer. I do believe he has a second guitar player now. Always glad to see another Torontonian at the fest!

And yes, Bahamas is the stage name of Afie Jurvanen, not the band name.
Great article! Makes me "trust in Jay" even more. Three years ago, when I was first deciding to go to a music festival, I thought that Bonaroo was more my type of artists. But, being in my 50's, the whole camping in a field thing was not as appealing. I definitely made the right decision going to NFF. It has expanded my music tastes in so many ways. NFF has a special place in my heart.

Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
There is it! Brandi Carlile announced for Saturday!!
I'm so excited she'll be at Newport! She's my absolute favorite artist - I think that'll be my 7th time seeing her? Oh, and this bumps up my likelihood of being there to 99%!

I wonder if we can expect more frequent announcements now? They had been pretty much doing a Tuesday/Thursday thing, but maybe (hopefully) now they'll go to the Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday model of previous years.
