Bonnaroo booked a cover band in a late night slot one year. The band was Unchained.....a Van Halen cover band. Everyone assumed this was a joke/hoax and that it would be something more exciting (like Trey from Phish, a Phish Reunion, actual Van Halen, etc.) but in the end it was just a shitty cover band who got one of the coveted late night slots. It's been a big joke since then. To this day nobody really knows why/how they got that booking.

I'm not really a huge fan of cover bands at festivals in general, even when they're covering a band I love. Thursday '08 had Dark Star Orchestra and Lez Zep and Zappa Plays Zappa taking up a few of the more coveted spots, and it seemed a bit... I dunno... counter to what Thursday is supposed to be? I think it should showcase up-and-coming artists, not those who reinterpret classics. Although I'm cool with having them at the cafe stages, or if it's a Flaming Lips DSotM type of thing.

Cath brought this up and have not had time to look more.... Is there an earlier show or time for a meet up? There will be 22 quackers when we are all there. We plan to have two 'home base' areas. In the quad to the left of the stage, up front by the tv screen, against the snow fence. Second will be at the fort, right side either far back right or right side against the rope as we bring shade.
Really hope to meet some of 'ya'll' that we've not yet had the pleasure.
I plan on being at the Harbor Stage at 11:00 to see Haunt the House on Friday. After that I need to divide myself into three people! Tons of conflicts on Friday! I am definitely going to visit the quack sites and look for lanyards. Can't wait to meet everyone.

Definitely want to meet up with folks too! First timer so don't know the layout yet, but will be on the lookout for the sites. And yep, will be at Haunt the House too.
I definitely want to meet up with anyone and everyone I definitely agree we should find an early meet up with minimal conflicts. Also, is Ant making lanyards this year? If so, we should get a picture posted in here to help others find the QC crew.
I'd back this if they were a different stage. Harbor isn't a great spot for a big meetup. Who knows anything about Goodbye Girls? An early show at the Quad Stage would be perfect.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Picked up two Friday tix on eBay so looks like I'm in. Hope I can find someone to go with me. My Friday schedule is looking like:
Haunt the House > Joe Pug > First half of Elephant Revival > Leon Bridges > The Lone Bellow > Leaning towards Iron and Wine and Ben Bridwell > Unannounced > Roger Waters
Hoping to score some Watkins Family Hour Thursday night tickets.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
