Jay-Z would be perfect. I'd have to get a day ticket for that day. I have yet to see him live and he's one of my favorite rappers.
I've seen him twice. Roo 2010 was the best. Also saw him in January for the Magna Carta... Holy grail tour. Still was awesome. I bought a bootleg shirt that said Magna carter tour for 10 bucks. No regrets.
Am I the only one who is a bit "excited" (bit of a stretch) by the ticket price increase because I think it does mean good things for the overall quality of the festival? As long as such a jump is justified and within reason, I don't mind it. If 20$ more is going to get me a significantly better lineup and setup, go for it.

Lana Del Rey just announced a summer tour with Courtney Love and there is a huge gap in early June. And the in between dates are ones on the east coast. It looks like we will be seeing her at Randalls Island this summer.
"Now that he’s scored his first “white buffalo” band, Wolowitz has a few other “pipe dreams” in mind. While he sees acts like Pearl Jam and Phish as tangible possibilities, reunions of NYC icons Talking Heads or LCD Soundsystem “would make a lot of sense in a lot of ways.” He’s realistic enough to know those bookings may never happen, but Governors Ball has become a staging ground for bands making their big New York City comebacks, and that trend will continue next year. Wolowitz promises a bill topped by “some acts that have a really strong history here that have been gone for a few years.”
When is the last time that Pearl Jam or Mumford played NYC?

Last real show for Pearl Jam (according to this site) was in 2010. Looks like they've played SNL and Jimmy Fallon a few times though.
10/24/13: Fallon
09/08/11: Fallon
03/13/10: “Saturday Night Live” NBC Studios, New York, NY, USA
05/20/10 Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
05/21/10 Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
Mumford and Sons, as part of their Gentleman on the Road thing, played in Queens in 2013 but not sure when their last headlining tour date in NYC was.

Pearl Jam did 2 nights at Barclays Center in Brooklyn in 2013. Im putting my money down that Pearl Jam will headline Govball this year. They even admitted in the reddit AMA last year that PJ was booked to headline in 2014, but due to scheduling conflicts with their European tour they had to pull out.

You're probably right. I thought they had played Barclay's but when I was searching the pages I looked for "New YOrk" so it's possible I missed "Brooklyn, NY" on there.

Mountain Jam has never really had a headliner that would fit the gball mold before, so it's never been much of a factor till now. Last year Damian Marley played both and the year before The Avetts and Gary Clark Jr were at each fest as well. We'll see!

This isn't a remarkable leak, but the Black Keys are definitely headlining GovBall next year. Their most recent tweet essentially confirmed it: "It's true, baby I'm howlin' for you. Missing all you ballers right now. #GovBallNYC "

My first response was Modest Mouse. Then after thinking about it and seeing all the answers people are saying RATATAT (who is from NYC). Words can not express how bad I want to see them again. I have been checking their site once a month for the last 3 years and it's said the same thing of "see you soon". Not cool.
