I have a feeling Pearl Jam is gonna be a headliner. In that govball reddit AMA it sounded like after PJ backed out for this year they were gonna talk negotiations for 2015.

Had a blast this year, but will probably be headed to Electric Forest, Wakarusa, Osheaga or Firefly for my #2 festival behind Bonnaroo. I could easily be swayed if PJ is there or a top-notch lineup is released.

I loved this year, and I'll finally be living in Manhattan next year. It's just so close and convenient for me that I can't say no, so long as there's a good lineup.
Should be getting a date announcement soon - lineup in Jan I'd expect so figured I might as well start the thread!
Any predictions?
Some early predictions:
1. This is the year Governors Ball hands the main stage over to a massive electronic act to close out one of the nights -- e.g. Chemical Brothers (please), Justice, Deadmau5, etc.
2. Drake and Coldplay will be the other headliners.
3. Hot Chip, Miike Snow, Jagwar Ma, and M83 will all be there, representing the top indietronica/alternative dance acts on the bill.
4. More of an emphasis will be made on booking "underground" dance acts -- e.g. the Booka Shade's, Moderat's, Trentmoller's of the world.
5. Significant changes will be made to ensure departing the island becomes easier. Anyone else have serious issues last year?

I expect a decent amount of these acts to be there: Pearl Jam Coldplay The Black Keys Drake Lil Wayne Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds Pharrell Chvrches M83 Death Cab for Cutie Jessie Ware Girl Talk ASAP Rocky
You guys know Miike Snow is on hiatus, right? One of the guys is currently in a more mainstream EDM outfit called Galantis.
Very aware. But I wouldn't put it passed them to book an act like Miike Snow. They did the same thing in 2013 when Cut Copy was essentially booked as a one-off.
Looking pretty decent - I expect them to really step up production and other aspects of the festival this year - they are also launching a second festival which should be interesting. My guess is a country festival.
I have a feeling drake will be on the lineup too, but is there any substance behind it? They also said Eminem "owes them a favor" because he dropped out last minute last year - so if not next year I see him soon - couldn't see drake and Eminem on the same lineup.

The only issue I had with leaving the island in a timely fashion was the night I had to be at an aftershow. That was my bad because we should have left early. We still made it on time though. The only thing I agree with is #3 on your list, only because dance music still has a place at every festival similar to this one.
On second thought the announcement () could be an NYE announcement, but new fest is coming so only time will tell if they announce it this soon.
For Gov Ball I expect dates in Late Dec/Early Jan and Lineup in Jan as usual - perhaps a change in weekend, but very interested in the lineup for what I consider their second year as a major fest. I expect a lot of infrastructure changes / more stuff on site to make it more comparable to the "Big three"
That old thread is pretty much just "who went and had fun this year!?!?!?!?!" while this one is at least attempting to discuss dates, lineups, etc. Makes no sense to migrate over there, keep this one going, lock that old one.
I want to go out and say Gov Ball will be June 19-21 since this new country fest is the following weekend (keep the production etc.) but I also couldn't see them having it the same weekend as firefly

It states in the Times article that Governor's Ball will be June 5th-7th

Didn't read through the whole article and now feel stupid - thanks for the catch
