Compared to last year's steamin pile of cow dung save a few bands; this is a remarkable up grade over last year. Macca and Metallica in the same year flat out dominates any top two a fest has had in years. If you don't like Dad rock, I understand your dismay.
This was so good to me that the wife and I leveraged what vacation time/$$ that we had for a hotel/ticket package. For my tastes- Macca, Metallica, FloMo, Alt-J, Tame Impala, TVotR, and so many undercard acts will set up the day quite nice! As rummagingforanswers put it- this line-up quackin rocks.
Let's be honest- anybody who has experienced Bonnaroo late nite can attest to it's awesomeness(no comparison in my years of fests). That makes Roo a different beast(I will be back for my third this year!). Lolla is the ultimate day party, which for us life experienced folks makes it ideal. The only problem with Lolla is dodging the Molly-stricken kids and the Bro with the shirt saying "Yo Bro, You Mad" on the front.
Roo and Lolla both have solid line-ups! And I am pumped to be able to do both!
May Tycho May Phoenix June Rooo July MMJ and Margo Price August Queen with Adam Lambert August Roger Waters (Bucket list #1) August Spoon and Portugal the man Sept Depeche Mode Sept Pilgrimage Fest
Good point. What about Metallica, Tame Impala, Kid Cudi, and Brand New on Saturday? Any foreseeable conflicts there?
I think Tame Impala and Cudi are too big for the Grove...although last time Cudi played Lolla he closed Perry's stage when it was a tent. I don't see Brand New closing the Grove either but I'm not 100% sure at this point. I'd put my money on Banks closing the Grove against Metallica, Sam Smith, and Alesso.
cheers to lolla for finally putting out a decent lineup after last year's atrocity! maybe if I can snag some craigslist tix near the festival time I'll make my first stop at lolla since 2009!
This is my favorite Lolla lineup since it was my first music festival in 2007.
Paul, Metallica, Florence are all 3 must sees for me. DFA79, First Aid Kit, Hot Chip, and Tallest Man on Earth are probably the 4 acts at the top of my musical bucket list at this moment. George Ezra is one of my favorite upcoming musicians. I recently remembered how much I love The Wombats after binge-watching The Inbetweeners. Alt-j, Alabama Shakes, Of Monsters and Men, Tam Impala, Brand New, TV on the Radio, The War on Drugs, Lord Huron, Gogol Bordello, Chet Faker, Odesza, James Bay, Givers, Jamestown Revival, Shakey Graves, Sturgill Simpson, What So Not (although I'm sad to hear that Flume is not part of the duo anymore), Bear's Den, and Black Pistol Fire are all acts I would be more than happy to see (and would probably pay to see in concert if the timing was right).
With that said, I had no intention of going so I didn't buy 3 days. And the 1 days sold out before I could get in. Plus, Chicago is an expensive city. If any of you are selling tickets at face value, please keep me in mind!

If this is something you really want to do you will be able to grab a 3-day at close to face a week or two before the festival.

Florence is headliner status, specially with her new album dropping in May. Her show was absolutely packed in 2012 on the north stage. Excited to see her close out an epic weekend. Or maybe ill go see Assnectar

I don't understand the disdain for Florence. I like her songs enough and thought she was amazing in 2012. She has enough hit songs to warrant a headlining slot and she has a pretty great voice.
I was never a fan of hers till I saw her live and she was great. I'm surprised at her being a headliner but I'll take her over a lot of the others on the festival circuit right now.

I think Florence is unbelievably talented and happens to also appeal to my personal tastes, but even if she didn't, I don't really understand how any music lover could not at the least recognize her talent. That voice, goddamn.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

That's what got me, her voice is so powerful. It's not that I ever disliked her, I enjoyed the singles I heard but her live show was amazing. I downloaded her albums after and have been a fan since. That's why I love festivals so much, I wouldn't be a fan because i never would have bought a ticket to just see her.
I don't get the shock of Florence as a headliner. Shes #5 at Roo, #1 at Osheaga, #2 at Governor's Ball.....why is #3 at Lolla such a surprise?
She's #4 at Gov Ball, and Lolla is twice as big of a festival. If she was 4-6 no one would think twice. Three is a bit of a stretch to me.
Oh right, , I was looking at the daily lineup poster for Gov Ball. But still, it's not like she was playing a tent at Roo and then headlining Lolla. Shes top 5 anywhere she goes.
