I recommend any young traveler looking for shenanigans to stay at the IHSP hostel on Damen. There's a rooftop party every night thursday-Sunday. The Thursday night party was the best I've ever been to. There's also awesome authentic eats, from tacos to hit dogs to wings to pizza, all for a pretty cheap price (I ate massive tacos and hot dogs for dinner every night. 2/$5), as well as tons of shit to do all within less than a mile. There's four bars within view of the rooftop, two nightclubs, and the double-door, which is a venue guaranteed to have after shows every night.
Book early though. Prices get jacked up to about 150/night (from 30/night) around January.

You figure with Livenation taking over, we have no idea what to expect. It could be a good thing, the worst thing, or not much of a thing. So I figure Livenation is big into the EDM scene, so at least two mainstage EDM headliners. Two mainstream acts- Coldplay and Kanye. One legacy act- Robert Plant. Then one rock act- Jack White.
I'm doing a contest on Reddit if you want to join, may the best guesser win a Lolla 2015 T-shirt of their choice at Lolla next summer.

I live in Chicago so I'm gonna go whenever I can but talk about tempered expectations. Last year was a reality check I didn't see coming for this fest. It's still a huge lineup so you can usually count on a solid undercard but acts like Pearl Jam, Metallica, TOOL, that have previously played won't even enter my possible hopes for headliners. If they book 'em awesome but I won't be expecting anything like that.

The real problem last year was that the undercard was also shitty. The top third of that poster was an utter wasteland. Then again, I think it was an off year for fests in general last year, but Lolla was easily the lowlight.

The way Lolla is layed out + short sets mean you can't split conflicts easily if at all, it's also in the most miserably hot & humid month in Chicago. One look at last years lineup tells me unless you got $$ to burn, pick another fest instead of this clusterfuck.

Lollapalooza has announced the lineups for the South American Lollas. The undercard usually matches up with the Lolla Chicago lineup, and the headliners usually share one or two headliners with the Lolla Chicago lineup. Take a peak below and check out Lolla Brazil, Lolla Chile, and Lolla Argentina.

The coachella Get ready for U2, Jack White and Eminem. Or Drake, Jack White and U2. Coachella will be better than Lolla South America, but I think Lolla Chicago will look a lot better than what the South American ones have offered lol.

Many of the American acts played Lolla this year so it doesn't tell us much about next years lineup.
Minus the acts that have played this year's Lolla: St. Vincent, Alt-J, Bastille, Chainsmokers, Robert Plant, Pharell, Kasabian, and Jack White will most likely be at Lolla Chicago.

Highly doubt Jack White will still be playing solo shows by next summer.
U2 - Beyoncé - Green Day - Drake - Calvin Harris - Deadmau5
Those are bigger headliners than the past few years combined.
The last time I went the headliners were Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Sabbath, Jack White, Black Keys, Avicci, and Justice. I think what I posted is fairly comparable.

I doubt that either Pharrell or Robert Plant would headline.
Jack's already HL'd, and Kasabian's a pretty plausible sub, or even a #5 or #6. They'd be 2015's Arctic Monkeys.

No dude, RHCP is not comparable to U2. The Black Keys are not comparable to Beyonce. Avicii and Justice have never been as big as Calvin Harris and Deadmau5 (plus Calvin played this year). Etc.

I think with Livenation taking over, this could be a possible lineup. I just chose 40 acts.

Kanye vs Smashing Pumpkins Coldplay vs Bassnectar Drake vs Weezer
Last year was the first time in five years I didn't go to Lolla and with the direction this festival seems to be headed, I might not be back for a while which is a real shame. Really no idea who's playing this year so I'm just guessing. Kanye hasn't been back since 08 and definitely could be #1, I doubt they stop having a modern "rock" headliner in the top three and Coldplay is a pretty logical progression from The Killers and Kings of Leon, Drake because why not and I feel like hes more likely now with livenation at the helm, the SA Lolla's have me hoping for Smashing Pumpkins and they'd make for a great alternative to a rap or electronic headliner plus they're one of the few original lolla bands to not play the Chicago version, Bassnectar for big name cheesy EDM (Could be subbed for Guetta, Armin, Tiesto, etc) and Weezer because new album and they'd be a decent lower tier HL to put against rap/pop/edm.
I could also see Kendrick or Pharell getting a north stage HL
