I wanted to hit a bunch of that last year, but with everything else conflicting, it never happened. I'll look to check them out if I can. Waka is so tough because even in the day, you got shit like Orgonne, Dopapod, Break Sciece, Keys n Krates, Magic Beans, Twiddle, etc. it's a good problem to have conflicts, but they still piss us all off.
Fwiw, 5 VIP tickets now purchased. Merry X to the brood +1. Broke but happy.
Never been to Wakarusa but it's always been on my radar. We're thinking of going this year and are intrigued by all the perks (and the price) of VIP! Can anyone who has done VIP at Wakarusa before fill me in on all the perks (meals every day? alcohol included?), if it's worth it, what the vibes like in VIP camping, etc.?

It was cheaper when i did it, but it was a very good experience. They had a separate group that handled the VIP's and they took care of any need you had. And as far as i could tell, vip had the only shaded camping....it was like a 2 minute walk from our campsite to free beer, to front row main stage.

Lineup round 2 drops today. Wakarusa's twitter account referenced a hint of "something old," which I would assume to be someone who has headlined before. My hopes are that it's one or all of MMJ, Pretty Lights (full band, please and thank you), and/or Wilco. Making my first trip out to the mountain this year since I can't make it to the farm this year.
edit. And, I'm dumb. Round 2 is tomorrow. Womp Wah.

I'm in the same boat. Can't do ROO this year but Waka is pretty close by so I'm strongly considering. Also hoping for MMJ.

To me, Waka saying something old means a band older than say Panic. Could be wrong, but they've had a lot of repeat headliners, so it seems like this is something different.
A lot of stuff in Round #2 that I don't know. I mean I don't want to sound like I just crawled out from a rock, but I have no idea who Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals is. Adds I'm happy about - The Magic Beans, Chance the Rapper, Slightly Stoopid, Portugal the Man (will also be at Buku), Big Gigantic, The Floozies, Wick-it, Boombox, Chali 2Na, Dopapod, and Yojimbo featuring Carly Hates the Dubstep.
Of the middle, I will have to research Joe Russo's almost dead, Matisyahu, Dilated People's (wtf?!?!), Black Tiger Sex Machine, Nattali Rize & Notis, Quantic, ProbCause, Forgotten Space, and almost all the undercard.
Chance The Rapper is the most attractive name to me. Missed his show at Roo because I wasn't yet initiated.
His set was really really wonderful.
Blast from the past for me here, Dilated Peoples and Quantic are acts that I've been listening to since I was a teenager. The Polish Ambassador would really make me feel good about this lineup. I'll be working at this festival regardless, but I need some Polish in my life in 2015.

Joe Russo is going to pretty much exclusively cover Grateful Dead songs, with a bit of Led Zeppelin covers thrown in. Saw him at Hulaween and it was a good time. Matisyahu does funky reggae-rock, Dilated Peoples are quintessential west coast underground hip hop from the late 90's-early 2000's, and Quantic is an amazing producer who makes funky latin style jazz/hip hopish stuff. Samba, Bossa Nova, etc. I'd be surprised if he didn't have a live band.
Thanks y'all. Jabco texted me his last album won a blues grammy and to think Not-Jack Johnson as this would be some soft, some folk, reggae and some soul. Seriously didn't know him. Strange headliner though, so probably either a Friday/Saturday night primetime slot. I've got work to do. Lots of it.

Offically bought my ticket this afternoon. Solid lineup additions. It will be interesting to see if Umphrey's gets that spot behind STS9. I'm stoked for chance. I only saw the first half hour of his set at roo because the kanye pit stole all of my energy.
