Scalpers suck. There's ppl selling tix for $500+ for GA. I really want to go this year, but if we can't find tix $50-75 above face we're not going. Hopefully prices will dip closer to the festival.
Also, isn't Pretty Lights supposed to be the other headliner? Would they wait till Phase 2 to drop a headliner??

nothing on here right now and you may have checked here, but a good place to watch closer and closer to the fest
also, i really have no idea. somebody had a decent point that since all the tickets are gone there's no rush to reveal the lineup necessarily and he could be added in phase 2. personally i'm not exactly counting on it, but who knows
Yeah, the more I look at it the more dissapointed I am. I can't believe they wasted another top billing on Bassnectar. It makes me cringe to know we have to deal with waves of bassheads storming through ranch. I'm assuming they are missing a headliner but any lineup that has Floss near the top is meh.
yeah... i don't understand the whole basshead cult thing. by all accounts lorin seems like a super cool and humble dude, and yet his "fans" seem to be some of the douchiest people around. just the other day on reddit some guy was asking about single day passes for okeechobee so he could see bassnectar. he NEEDED to see bassnecter before he goes to mysteryland AND basscenter. when i said there weren't gonna be any, his response was, "oh well, guess i'll just sneak in then." fuck off, tool.

yea i'm def not one of the crazed bassnectar fans that would camp out all day at the stage for him, or sneak in, shit like that is awful. even the gf is concerned and has heard awful things about his fans. i do love his live sets though, there are a blast, his studio stuff is good too. like the dudes music and looking forward to seeing him again, from a safe distance

oh absolutely. i love bassnectar. his sets are one of a kind and i'll probably see him any chance i get unless there's something else that reaaaally interests me. and there are tons of awesome bassheads. the rabid ones are just so selfish it amazes me.

any particularly zealous fanbase is going to have insane fans that are willing to go to extreme lengths to see their artist of choice as many times as possible. see: grateful dead deer creek 95 gate crashers.
I think people will always want to attach themselves to a musical act and make that act at least part of their identity in some way. I've certainly made my choice and live with it now (and enjoy the hell out of it).
As a jamband kid it's been clear for several years no jamband will rise to the level of GD or Phish in terms of size of following, so I assumed it would be an electronic artist that would do it. Bassnectar did it. His fanbase is young right now. They'll grow up and they'll learn, but there will always be a certain percentage of assholes and idiots amongst any group.
I've been seeing Bassnectar since 2007 and it's really strange to see how he and his fanbase have evolved. I'm more a jamband fan myself but I always have a blast at his shows and like how all of his shows are never the same so I've stayed a fan. That being said, I went to see him this NYE and it was a VERY different vibe than what I was used to. These kids were way too drugged up, could barely stand, and then there were the select few "bros" that were just overall being assholes. This was the 1st time I really noticed it so it could have just been where we were seated or maybe that's becoming the norm. That being said, I think the bad ones that got called out last year at fests are usually on the rail, so it should be safe in the back. More room to dance anyway.

He's even made it a point to call for respect from those idiots. But they don't care. It's maybe 5-10% of his fanbase that are that outrageous. Sure, 75% of them are headbanging these days (who would have seen that coming from EDM), but most of those kids get into the music and aren't bro'd out douchebags. That always comes with the territory when there is a younger fan base involved (hardcore, metal heads from years gone by, rap wiggers, etc.).

I read on reddit that the festival is working on trying to solve the issue of bassnectar fans camping out all day for rail. Possibly a pit system or passes etc. Apparently its been an issue in the past.

They must have a team of monkeys working around the clock on that brain-scratcher. Apparently the notion of "hey, you guys know we don't HAVE to book Bassnectar every year, right?" never came up in their weekly meetings.
It was a guy from the Disco Biscuits that commented about it on Facebook (after Bassheads camped in front of DB at Bisco). But either way, it's lazy booking to have him come back 2 years in a row.

You're just trolling because you don't like the festival overall. Just like i laugh at other some other niche festivals. All good.
Aside from a few cool bookings like Kamasi Washington and Neon Indian, this lineup doesn't excite me too much. But hey, at least the forest looks cool.

Same. I miss the days when Bassnectar was a side stage act, and you could break it down without dealing with a bunch of douchebags

I was in the pit for String Cheese last year and AS SOON AS THE LIGHTS DIMMED I was almost knocked over by a bunch of idiots that had no regards for anyone else and just wanted the rail. As soon as they got there they started going crazy and tried making room for themselves so that they weren't crowded... Yeah, they pushed US out of the way and then were worried that they were too crowded. Lorin's music is ok but I'll never bother seeing him at a festival again due to the obnoxious/ignorant 5% that make it feel like 95%.

there's a facebook group for "basseechobee." a camp of almost 400 people that are planning to camp together at okeechobee because of their mutual love of bassnectar. they are probably going to blast bassnectar exclusively 24/7, yaaaaaay. it's such a fucking circlejerk. complaining about it makes me feel a little better.

Agreed. Someone needs to name these types - basschoades or something.

hahahaha that's hilarious. i will start using this.
....so they're banning outside alcohol? That's pretty lame. Hopefully this gets fixed somehow, either way I'll have mine but what the fuck
Yea, working on finding out reasoning now.. This has plenty people pissed; most are claiming that this was never in the guidelines online until recently.. The HQ is claiming that its a new MI law, but people are tearing the laws apart to see if this is true.. The Festival Lawyer has been emailed so hopefully this gets resolved soon..
Nothing like being 33 years old and having to sneak around to have a drink

yea seems pretty redic from what I've read. They have to do or say something about it that's for sure
Isn't Electric Forest held on private property? If that's the case I can't see how this can be enforced unless the Michigan police are doing the searches on the way into the fest.
Looks like they made a pretty generic statement on Twitter:
"HQ understands there has been some confusion regarding the festival alcohol policy. Thank you for your patience while HQ works to clarify the FAQ in the coming weeks. It is fully expected that Electric Forest's campground experience will be very similar to the way it has always been in the past. Together we all look forward to coming together in June for another amazing experience in Rothbury."
That's such a basic no-answer statement. "Hey we know you're pissed so give us some time to figure out how to spin this so we don't look like complete money-grubbing assholes."
I paid $1700 for Back 40 tix and my BF and I are 31. I will have a damn mimosa at my camp if I want to.
