Looks like they made a pretty generic statement on Twitter:
"HQ understands there has been some confusion regarding the festival alcohol policy. Thank you for your patience while HQ works to clarify the FAQ in the coming weeks. It is fully expected that Electric Forest's campground experience will be very similar to the way it has always been in the past. Together we all look forward to coming together in June for another amazing experience in Rothbury."
That's such a basic no-answer statement. "Hey we know you're pissed so give us some time to figure out how to spend this so we don't look like complete money-grubbing assholes."
I paid $1700 for Back 40 tix and my BF and I are 31. I will have a damn mimosa at my camp if I want to.
and they took down the policy from their website right now and it says coming soon. Hopefully it gets straightened out, like you said I'll have a damn screwdriver if I want jesus

HQ would like to clarify the confusion that surrounds the comments that surfaced over the weekend regarding the festival Alcohol Policy. We recognize that there was ambiguity in the policy that had been posted for the past few years. Please find clarification below. Our apology for any confusion that may have been inadvertently caused. Thank you to the Forest Family for bringing this to our attention. Please know that the festival experience will be similar to years past. Here is the official policy that has been updated on the festival guidelines: You must be 21+ to consume alcohol in the campgrounds. A reasonable amount of unopened beer and wine (limited to 1 case of beer and one box of wine per person), will be permitted to be brought onto your camping area. If, however, in the security’s judgment anyone in the vehicle is intoxicated, or the alcohol is open, then the organizers reserve the right to confiscate the alcohol. Kegs, glass, liquor, or vending of alcohol is not permitted in the campgrounds, and alcohol may not be brought from the campsites into the festival venue.
have you been there before? i'm wondering how similar the searches are to roo, aka not very thorough
Never been. This will be the first year for everyone in our group.
I also have a friend who can only drink and I know he is going to, firstly, be pissed about no liqour and secondly, want to sneak in some booze (which I don't blame him for at all). No liqour is ridiculous imo.

my first year as well, i plan on sneaking of course, just don't know how far i need to go. like emptying water bottles and refilling with vodka far? or hide some in my suit case, tent, ez up, or what.

others in this thread???
Just put a few bottles in a few different places.. I've never really been thoroughly searched.. I always wrap a bottle or 2 in a towel or blanket.. They wont make you take everything out of your vehicle.. Just have a back up plan in case they do find one.. Also, you can always do the water bottle trick.. Myself, im gonna bring in a couple cases of beers and a 5th or 2 of vodka for Bloody Mary's.. always like supplying those early in the AM; good way to make neighborly friends

Just put liquor in a few water bottles and put them in your bags. Our search consisted on glove box, cooler, quick glance, good to go.
Not a problem.. If you have any other questions, just let us know
appreciate it, it's nice to be able to ask questions here vs on reddit. i don't need 75 responses to the simple answer questions lol. we have early arrival passes for wed and plan on being there an hour or two before gate open. i expect to wait in a line, i think the gate open is 11? or noon? we'll be driving as far as we can from MN on tues night and then the remainder on wed and trying to be there by 9/10ish. hoping this early arrival alleviates some of the chaos i've read about entering the venue the past couple years, but we shall see.

entry starts around noon.. you'll have people start lining up as early as midnight the night before..
yea, twas a clusterfuck last year, I think they've expanded the campgrounds so that should help alleviate some of the hassle..
just make sure to watch for the signs leading to the grounds.. they'll be different signs for GA, GL, EA, etc... I think a big problem last year was people getting in the wrong lines, which caused mass confusion.. I would hope that they have a better grasp of the size of the crowd this year so they'll have enough people ready to start checking cars in
I'm looking for ideally two GA tickets. I'd be ecstatic with one thou I'm open to whichever payment method you prefer. Looking forward to my first Forest exp and dancing like a kid during Cheese

Bump!
We got the schedule last night. I have a couple conflicts, but the only one that really hurts is the disco biscuits during bonobo. Glad I'll be able to catch lane 8 seeing as I missed him at roo.
We leave a week from today and I couldn't be more excited for my first trip to the forest!

I leave a week from yesterday!!! very excited to check out the forest for the first time as well!
i'm honestly torn by savoy/12th planet. overall i'd have to say it's a pretty good schedule for me and i will probably have to see savoy w/outdoor lasers
New Master Sounds, Nth power , Earphunk, and Dumpstaphunk, and Karl D, I see there is some funkiness for me in this lineup. Papadosio and Polish Ambassador, and Bonobo would be other shows I would check out. Great sounds, but I would like to know about the ART, I hear this is going to be an epic year. I would love to hear about your favorite installations.
Is it interactive? If so, how many people can interact with art piece at one time?
It is ever changing or a stationary art piece?
On a scale of 1-10, how much did art piece 'blow your mind'?
Porter Robinson's set was incredible. Played some new songs. Didn't know what to expect, but I'm a fan now
Too bad you couldn't even hear his bass if you weren't close. I could hear the Forest stage's base over his most of the show. It was an absolute joke that they put him on a stage that had no base. Forest hasn't put the necessary amount of money into production imporvement and it shows. The people/atmosphere is no longer worth the shit lineup and garbage production in my opinion. Was my last year without a doubt.
2 weekends in 2017 per Festive Owl. Not going, but I hope those who have wanted to attend but have been unable will be able to go.
yup, my thoughts exactly. some people were getting so butt hurt about this like it's going to ruin it. calm down people. also heard they're capping each weekend at 30k instead of the 45k that were there last year which i really like too
Yea, still not sure how i feel about this.. im 100% for opening it up to others that may have not been able to experience EF otherwise, but having different artists on each weekend could cause some serious problems trying to decide..Im thinking it'll be more like ACL, where the headliners mostly stay the same, but the undercard may change some.. Also, different curated events each weekend could be meh
They are giving the initial lineup release before the ticket sale, which is nice..
Im not jumping off the proverbial bridge yet like i see a bunch of others doing.. I trust that they have a good plan for all of this

yup i totally agree with all of that. you'd have to think they would keep the headliners the same for both weekends, i'd hope. glad they're announcing the lineup beforehand, i'm assuming tickets will go on sale a little later this year and lineup earlier. they def seem like they've put in the effort to ensure that it is not all lost by this change. i trust them too
