On the beach? Sorry friends. Short fuse today. Should not let negative folks drag me down with them. I lost count of how many new friends I made at Hangout this year. Keeping up with usernames and real names was a challenge for my remaining memory.
Tedeschi Trucks, OCMS, and everyone of the performers Zaj included. I'm sure by next Hangout there will be a bunch of new, haven't heard them before I will want to see. Listening to MMJ, Cold War Kids, and TV on the radio on the deck with cold beer. Three of my favorite new to me performers.
I was really blown away by TV on the Radio. Before the show I was like...meh. They drew the "sun straight in your face" afternoon slot and totally rocked the crowd. I guess Jamell Richardson would be the second performer that I was not expecting and just killed it. Tribute to BB King was awesome. For the first time I can remember I actually had to ease back from in front of the Surf Stage speakers. MMJ was fantastic, but killed my eardrums. Once I got about 300 rows back vice 10 rows back, sounded great.
Are you going to Bonnaroo? Know any of the Hangout 2015 Infocrew that are going? I live about 20 minutes from the site on the lake and have plenty of room if anyone wants or needs a place to pitstop, jump in the lake and cool off, shower, etc. Looks like it will be later in the summer before I go to California. Still debating spending the cash to watch the Stones. I guess like everthing, some classic rockers are awesome and some not so much in concert. The Hall and Oates concert at the Ryman was a let down. They played an hour and half of hits which was great and just...see ya. I think the show started at 8 and over by 9:30. Guess they had to take a nap. Definitely appreciate the new, young and hungry performers who are working hard to make it and give some love to their fans.
Getting this crew together is like hearding cats...what happened to the Steelism meet up?...i guess some of ya'll were there like 5 minutes and split. I thought they were pretty good...closed with a Bond Theme jam.
I caught a bit of Steelism with the group. Met rcatthebeach and a few others I think on top of the group we walked in with (sparkysarah, chickinchickasaw, beachbob, mattlikesrock and myself). Went and got a drink with Sarah and came back to watch some more of the band. Looked around and everyone was gone. Saw Bob and Paula headed to the beach and tagged along with them. Glad I caught Jamell. Didn't really run into many other people throughout the weekend besides Paula's group as we hung with them and at her house and spot a lot. Did run into you before Spoon I think and we tried to get over where you said you guys were for that set but never saw you. Saw mattlikesrock in passing a few times and beachbob at the bar while I caught a bit of J Roddy.
I stayed at Steelism. Y'all left me when I went to the bathroom.
Honestly I dont care about undercard repeats at all, especially if they have new material. Within reason of course.
im def cool with a few repeats but i prefer ones form like 3+ years back if possible. This was the perfect time to have Foo back i thought and i loved the Mowglis set this year too but a bunch from just 2 years ago is kinda weak. i will say though look at the last 3 lineups they are really different from eachother its pretty cool
Amos Lee's second show was a lot more upbeat and bigger, better sound. Delta Rae also improved. Jason Isbell has a new album due out this summer and he is getting better. Amos Lee went from midday hot performance to later and cooler time slot and you could really tell the energy difference in the crowd.
Sounds good to me. If the loudest bands played during the heat and mellow putting people to sleep at midnight...might work. Current format to get louder and louder probably not.
yea im not a fan of the 11am start. i would be cool if they even went back to 12 and back to 1 hour sets for everyone so we can have like a small gap inbetween sets so we dont have to run to the next one each time
It was awhile back, but someone...maybe moten, mentioned that GV isn't trying to make this the Eastern Coachella. Which is nice. Honestly, I'm not sure what would make this fest better other changing it to a 4th day or having a better pre-party planned.
There's def no more room for another stage. The addition of a DJ seems very favorable even though I spent all of 30 seconds going through it. I think thenline up is fairly diverse but it would be nice to stray a bit fron EDM more towards a few more hip hop and jam bands. They probabaly had the best restroom set up of any fest. The food vendors were below average, but I'm a bit jaded coming from Austin's haven of food trucks.
I think the Palladia stage needs more work if any. They added some sand this year, but not enough.
